Our family of 4 and yellow lab deeply enjoyed the charm of the cabin and having roaring campfires in the big oversized fire pit in the backyard. There was plenty of room in the cabin and it appears to be very well loved and cared for. It offers directv for those not wanting to totally disconnect, but no WiFi. Towels and bedding NOT provided. This isn't made known to the rentees until after the sale is final. Most disappointing, however, was the trek to and from the lake. The cabin has no lake view and sits on a hill (rather steep when carrying kayaks and canoes) around 300 yards from the access point. The lake access point was somewhat hard to find and the trail was narrow and barely allowed us to pass toting belongings and kayaks. There is no flat frontage to park a beach chair and the dock is far from relaxing with its clear instability. In all, we enjoyed our stay because of what the town and lake have to offer. We spent our days enjoying a public boat launch on a charming fishing pond about 4 miles further down the road in beaver cove that provided us all we had been missing with our cabin's location. Renter beware, misleading!
First paragraph of Owner's description of this property states that the property is on Moosehead Lake and that there is a private dock. We were surprised to find that the cabin is not on the lake but in the woods with no view of the lake at all. There is a dock in poor repair that is shared with three other homes located down the road about 100 yards. The path to the dock would make carrying even a small boat all but impossible and there is no area for swimming. Clutter from old boats, docks, etc at the waterfront makes for an area we visited only once during our week stay.
The pictures don't show the third bedroom most likely because it is the smallest bedroom I've ever seen...a queen bed just fits in with about 16 inches on only one side.
DVD/VCR is broken. There's a note that states you cannot use the wood stove although this is advertised as working. The property description also states linens and towels are provided...good thing I asked the owner before we went up as he told me they were not provided.
The cabin was clean and the bathroom is nice with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. I certainly could have overlooked the negatives noted above had the cabin been on the lake as advertised. A good snowmobile camp...not so great for a vacation on Moosehead Lake.
The Property was lovely and quaint and we felt right at home! Everything was clean and all the amenities were just perfect! So glad we chose Prays cabin! The wildlife was abundant and we got a lot of laughs watching them... We enjoyed all the views and had some real family bonding - we didn't even turn on the TV! The beds were comfy, I cooked up a storm and we can't wait to go back! We took John Prays word and ventured on the four wheelers we rented to The Black Frog for lunch which is right on the lake and it was delicious. He also mentioned Indian Hill Trading Post which had everything from a dozen eggs to shoes and he was right! We had a fun shopping there and the entire long weekend experience was a delight! Next time we'll stay for at least the week as they were very accommodating and their wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted to. I have already recommended Prays cabin to my family and friends and now to you. Enjoy!
