A perfect way to experience the north coast of Northern Ireland

  • 5 of 5

A perfect accommodation for a visit to Northern Ireland. Cozy, comfortable and with a historic flavor, my wife and I found this cottage to be the highlight of our trip, right down to the peat and wood fire that provided heat every evening. Beautiful rural setting, but conveniently located close to the town of Bushmills and the Giant's Causeway. As it is off the beaten path, try to arrive before dark. Rosalind was so helpful and even provided us with food from her kitchen after we arrived late our first night. If you really want to experience the culture of the north coast, stay in this wonderful cottage!

Great place, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent about a week at The Coves. Rosalind was a most generous host, with her time and sight seeing suggestions, with plenty of firewood, and fruit cakes because we liked them so much.

The cottage is quaint and very Irish in appearance but it is very comfortable and has all the conveniences for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect for exploring the North Coast and if the weather cooperates (which it did for us) there are some great coastal hikes. Accommodation-wise, The Coves was the highlight of our trip.

A welcoming and quaint dog-friendly cottage near the north Antrim coast

  • 4 of 5

We had a most enjoyable stay in The Coves and were made most welcome by Rosalind and her husband John.

The cottage proved the ideal base for our short trip and is suited for couples or families, with one double room and another with bunk beds.

The sitting room and kitchen is very nicely decorated, combining the old world charm of a traditional Irish cottage, including a wood burning stove, with modern conveniences of a cooker, microwave, fridge, dish washer and coffee maker.

Rosalind had stocked the kitchen with bread, homemade jam, fresh milk and orange juice, as well as fuel for the stove. She also gave us information as to dog friendly places where we could eat with our dog.

The cottage is ideally located for visiting the north Antrim coast and its beautiful beaches, the Giant's Causeway and the Glens.

Fantastic cottage - book it

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is very idyllic, charming, comfortable and well kept. Location is excellent next to whitepark bay beach. Welcome pack of pancakes milk and jam was a nice touch, and hosts were lovely and extra helpful. Great for kids. Better than many hotels and guest houses if you need some space and appreciate a personal touch. Would stay again!

Lovely cottage, wonderful welcome!

  • 5 of 5

First of all I'd like to say that Rosalind couldn't have been any more welcoming! Communication before our trip was great, including directions for both a direct route from Belfast and via the Causeway Coastal route, and a couple of suggestions for things to do. We arrived in the pouring rain and because of our useless sense of direction, Rosalind was waiting in the awful weather to wave us down! There were plenty of leaflets etc in the cottage and Rosalind gave us a few more ideas, and there were several basics left for us, ie milk, orange juice etc, together with some lovely homemade jam which we would have taken home if we could have! The cottage itself is lovely, very cosy and plenty of heating so if you were visiting in the winter, you'd probably never want to set foot out of the door. The kitchen/dining/sitting area is well equipped - everything you need for however much cooking you'd want to do, a dining room table and four chairs, and comfy chairs for four. There is a log burner which was really nice to have going in the evening - although we visited in the summer, it was a British summer! There are two comfortable bedrooms, a double and one with two singles in a sort of bunk bed arrangement. We have two teenagers and they were very comfy in this room. There is wifi but this didn't work very well on our devices, but this wasn't a problem for us. We visited an activity centre near Limavady (around 45 mins away), the Giant's Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Ballintoy Harbour and White Park Bay, as well as Carrickfergus and Ballycastle on the way from Belfast. We had a very nice meal in the Bushmills Inn (lunch time menu), and if you're in Portrush, try one of the Ramore restaurants - we went to Coast which served pizza and pasta - very busy on a Wednesday early evening, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. It's not fine dining, but very reasonable if you want a cheap meal out.

In summary, I'd definitely recommend this cottage, and its owner!

Was honestly just perfect..

Clean and so beautifully quaint.. Had everything we needed.. The wood burner was an added bonus.. Would thoroughly recommend this get away.. So close to all local beauty spots.. Rosalind and her husband could not be any more welcoming.. Hubby even did a taxi run to bush ills so as we could enjoy a few glasses of wine with our evening meal.. Will definitely go back.. It was charming DL
