This beautiful lakefront home is situated on an almost two acre wooded site overlooking a protected cove on the large public side of gorgeous Lake Anna. The sunsets in the evenings are magnificent as the sun settles below the treeline to the west with golden rays reflecting off the water.
Laurelin ('Song of Gold' in Tolkien's Old Elvish tongue) has plenty of room for entertaining and relaxing. A large den/family room has a 42 inch Phillips HD flat screen TV with Dish programming and DVD player for those needing a break from the water. The central kitchen is very nicely equipped and features a 'pass-through' to the den area.
There are three bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, bunk beds, and three full baths to easily accommodate ten people, as well as plenty of floor space for additional air beds if needed (there are two full airbeds provided). The master bathroom suite includes a two-person Jacuzzi tub as well as a large walk-in shower. French doors on both levels allow for great views of the lake.
Wi-Fi Internet Access/ Phone Service: Laurelin has it's own Wi-Fi 'hot spot' to allow guests to stay connected by smart phone or laptop computer during their visit. High speed internet service is available along with a wireless N600 dual-band router, and the WEP encryption access password will be provided upon guests' arrival.
Home phone service with unlimited local and US long distance calling is also included at no additional cost.
There is a combination propane/charcoal grill on the deck, and propane is provided.
Thanks for checking in on us after the earthquake (5.9 earthquake at 1:53 pm on 8/23/11- Once in a lifetime!)and helping us through it with a couple of bottles of wine. We had a great time with the kids swimming and catching catfish from the dock and playing pool. A great family vacation!
Laurelin was amazing! The house was fantastic and spotless when we arrived! So much to do IN the house! Beautiful porch deck where we enjoyed coffee every morning. The location was perfect for traveling to restaurants by boat or car. Great place to come home to after a long day on the water! It truly felt like home! We can't wait to book for next year!
The owner was wonderful1 From our first inquiry about the property, to interactions prior to our stay, to the greeting upon arrival, to the quick response when we had some internet problems, to his farewell upon our leaving were pleasant and like dealing with a friend.
Property is even more lovely than the pictures show. Nestled on a wooded lot hidden from the street, it was definitely a break from our hectic schedules.
Our dog was welcomed with open arms. A Chesapeake Bay Retriever who prefers the water to land any day, had a blast running the yard and popping in and out of the water at the dock. The owner's first meeting with our soaking wet wet dog was as she nearly ran him over chasing our teenagers off the dock.
We had a fabulous time with our extended family. Great directions made it easy for family to come and stay a few days at a time so that we 4 generations got time at the lake on on the boat.
Planning for 2015 will be easy since we know where we'll be wanting to stay!
Laurelin is a wonderful, private property, snuggled back off an already private community road; lending itself to a very relaxing atmosphere. Bob the owner is fantastic. We arrived by boat about an hour early and he saw us down near the dock and came down to say hello. We promised we weren't staying, merely trying to locate the house from the drop location via water. He told us the place would be ready in 15 minutes, so we got in a few minutes early!
The kitchen is well appointed, tons of spices, dishes, pans, etc... The rooms are all pretty standard. The master has a large bathroom and jet tub.
They have a fantastic group of CDs to play as well as a huge Xbox360 library. The kids had a blast between Xbox and pool. Additionally, they have a book library, that I suspect you could bring a book and take a book; but I didn't spend anytime reading while there. The dock is great for hanging out, or fishing, although a bit tight if you have a boat 24'+ long, getting in and out was tricky (but doable). We had a 26' power boat, a 14' fishing boat, a 12' sailboat and a 10' jetski and it all fit at the dock! Not to mention tons of floats and tubes and fishing stuff. The walk from the house to the dock is a decent incline/decline and not paved, so it can be a bit slippery after rain. Not a big deal, just a something to keep in mind for people with special needs. Great exercise! The picture of the back of the house doesn't show the fire pit he added, we didn't get to use it, but it would have been fun had it not rained at night. The house feels much more like someones personal home than a rental home; they have many extras you don't usually see. Also, we brought our two dogs who had a blast. The house has no indications of previous dogs or dog messes/smells. Our only near miss incident was one of the dogs taking off to chase a deer the first night there!
We would definitely come back to Larelin, it was a great week! Thanks for the wine Bob!
We had a great time here. The house is absolutely wonderful. It held 5 adults and 2 kids very comfortably. The dock was great, in a quiet almost private little cover in a great place for the kids to be able to jump of the dock over and over again without the worry of boats coming through. Even though we were there during the hottest week of the summer, we still had a great time playing pool and sitting around talking. We loved how the kitchen opened up to the living room so everyone could stay connected and even playing the occasional game of trivial pursuit (guys vs. girls). We are looking forward to more visits there in the future.
We loved our stay at this beautiful, fully equipped, pet-friendly home on Lake Anna. The owner was very helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We loved watching the many birds at the birdfeeder, and a walk in the quiet surrounding neighborhood produced a sighting of two Pileated Woodpeckers. We enjoyed a visit to Lake Anna Winery, Lake Anna State Park, and Spotsylvania Battlefield. The property is in close enough proximity to Fredericksburg to provide a busy day or two of sightseeing and shopping. Our next visit will be in spring or fall, when we can make use of the dock on the property for kayaking on the lake.
What a beautiful home!!
Extremely well equipt with all the little extras. The owner could not have been more helpful. It was a special girls trip but we all agreed our husbands would definitely enjoy Lake Anna.
This house would make any vacation, year around, special. It would definitely be a treat during season of the year:)
Lake Anna offers the best in fishing, skiing, and wake boarding anywhere! 13,000 acres of lake and 200 miles of shoreline ensure that there is always a place to play. Lake Anna is conveniently located 90 minutes from Washington DC and 60 minutes from Richmond or Charlottesville. Only 45 minutes to King's Dominion and golf and tennis just 20 minutes away.
