Don't be fooled by the price on this beautiful cabin! I am a traveler myself so understand how important it is to find a good deal on a nice place to stay. When you are ready to get away from the stress of every day life, this space offers an opportunity to do just that! A wonderfully, quiet room in small cabin settled within a nature preserve;(Think tall pines and surrounded by nature). If you desire solitude and privacy, rest assured, the owner generally resides elsewhere during the duration of your stay, but will be on call to make sure you have everything you need. Peaceful neighborhood, with public transit exactly one mile away. Golf course, pool, many lakes and trails all within walking/riding distance, or a short two minute drive. Local grocery and restaurants within a mile range. Cabin overlooks a bluff and has a small wood stove. Perfect for the person who wishes to get away from it all. Wifi, hard-line internet, small oven/stove and small private refrigerator are available.
The city of Bellingham is ten minutes away for those individuals who enjoy a day of adventure. Western University is a short ten mile drive for those parents who wish to visit their students. Whatcom Falls park within five miles and many mountain biking trails. The near-by town of Fairhaven is filled with wonderful artists and specialty restaurants. Inter-urban trails, Alaska ferry, and outdoor theater are all close by. Some fun activities include : the mall, the board walk, sailboat racing during summer months and maybe you'll experience the comedy club later in the evening. You can adventure out knowing you'll have inviting accommodations to return to when you are tired and need to relax.
You can expect a warm greeting upon your arrival and your room will include incidentals in case you've forgotten something at home. While most of the house is aesthetically pleasing, there are a couple small projects that are still in need of completion. We look forward to meeting you!
Please be advised this is a private residence. The owner maintains the loft area but will not be present during your stay; however, will be available if needed.
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison and Walden University, and have a Masters in Forensic Psychology. I am currently enrolled in my Ph.D. program in school. I have traveled to Iceland, Ireland and the lower 48 United States. I am quiet, enjoy traveling alone, and enjoy experiencing the culture of a destination rather than participate in large tour groups. I enjoy a variety of different types of music and genres of literature. In life, I strive to make a positive difference in the world around me.
Constance Lang purchased this cabin in 2009
This cabin offers a sense of serenity I have yet to find elsewhere. The unique scents of the forest, the view of the treetops and the peaceful nature of the cabin make it a wonderful place to stay.
It is a very nice cabin in the woods with nature all around you and yet all your needs taken care of. It was also great to have the place to our self. No sharing with a roommate. Constance was very accommodating in getting us an extra folding bed for an additional person. 5 stars
Great experience ! It was definitely built in the 70's but I think that adds to the charm . I hope it will be avalible the next time I visit Bellingham .
Great place to stay in a beautiful area. We love Sudden Valley and this cabin is really charming. We'll be back. Thank you!
Cute, comfortable and well supplied with everything. Needs a little work, but overall in good condition. Since property is located in Sudden Valley, there are LOTS of trees that provide LOTS of shade and little sunshine. Location would be our only issue with property, but all in all very good value for the money. Constance was very accomodating - I would recommend.
My husband and I wanted a short "staycation" close to Seattle. This little home in Sudden Valley was great, especially for the unbeatable price! We hadn't heard of the neighborhood and had no idea what to expect. Basically, it's like a master planned suburb in the forest. The house itself is eclectic with a mix of funky updates (paint), new construction (bathroom tile and kitchen island), and just old stuff (heaters). The space is perfect for two people with a comfy bed and a wood stove. The owner responded quickly to our emails once we were there. Our only concern was that we weren't sure if she was going to show up or be staying there. The upstairs is off limits b/c she lives there some of the time. We never saw her, but that may be something to confirm with her beforehand.
The house is quaint and cozy! I stayed for almost 2 months while looking for more permanent housing for my job relocation. The sudden valley area is a great lil escape while still being close to downtown Bellingham. The owner was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.
We have completed our stay at the Bellingham VBRO#366018HA.
Sad to say but the owner certainly is misleading the renters she gets for this listing.
We rented for a total of 2 months (July 12-Sept 12, 2014). The rental has so many problems that include "Safety" issues that I contacted the Fire Chief asking about the issues. He was appalled to say the least. There are exposed 220 volt wires protruding from the living room was where a baseboard heater was removed and not replaced after painting. Listing states "there are a couple of small projects that are still in need of completion" but frankly every room has had work and no room is completely finished. There are several wall electric outlets, light switches that do not have cover plates so the exposed wires are there for the shocking experience. There is no electric outlet in bathroom for hair dryer, curling iron or shaver. You must run an extension cord from the laundry room for use in the bathroom. Listing states bathroom newly remodeled. Yes, but only about 70% complete. Throughout the house, no GFI outlets for shock protection. Only one smoke detector upstairs in a "off-limits" area that does not indicate it's working.
We were not greet us upon arrival as stated in the listing to go over any issues or items. Our first greeting was several days after arriving. One look inside showed that the owner still made this her full time home as every closet, drawer, cupboard and refrigerator was full of personal items. We ended up moving the bedroom closet clothing into a hall closet so we could unpack. We threw out all the old food remaining and defrosted the refrigerator. We also had to buy a used dresser for a 2 month stay. (Not like we were there for a few days and could live from a suitcase).
We were promised the bathroom electrical would be fixed and the outside filthy deck would be cleaned and recoated several times. Each time there was an excuse why nothing was being accomplished. We left after 2 months and still nothing completed.
This is a sad excuse for a rental. Anyone who might have a grandchild visit for the day would certainly not allow that due to exposed wiring.
Be prepared for a shocking experience.
Western State University is 11 miles away. Fairhaven offers many local artisans, unique dining experiences as well as wonderful artists and is located approximately 12 miles away.
