Quiet, Country Setting w/ Privacy -- Close to Everything Though

  • 5 of 5

The studio apartment is very private; close to but away from the owners' house with private entrance. The owners are great and respond quickly and well to texts, e-mails and telephone calls. With the great kitchen, guests can save money by cooking for themselves quite comfortably. While the property is set in a very quiet, country setting, it is only minutes from three different shopping areas in different directions, and about 45 minutes from D.C. The apartment is small, but much nicer than a hotel room and really very homey and comfortable. We stayed there for a longer-term stay while relocating to the area and it worked great for us as our temporary but primary residence. The owners were also very accommodating to us with some special issues we had regarding storage of some of our items we were keeping with us as well as scheduling us around their other bookings. They also helped us out with other issues unique to our situation, so I'm certain they would be very helpful to any guests with more "normal" issues and concerns during a short-term vacation rental as well. Highly recommended!

The Loft is a Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

I loved this little loft at the top of the stairs, looking out over beautiful grounds, completely private and quiet. I was able to rest, to read, to think, to write, and to spend time with friends, taking in the sounds and sweetness of summer. It is fresh, modern, comfortable, embracing – a triumph of simplicity. A real gem.

Private farmhouse loft (DC suburbs)

  • 3 of 5

Location was great and very picturesque. However, wi fi was out of range and a/c was marginal. It was unseasonably warm and the thermostat wasn't in the unit . The bed was substandard compared to what you find in decent hotels these days and needs to be upgraded. Television, kitchen and bath were fine.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

This quaint loft was perfect for us. It had a fully use-able kitchen, cable TV and WiFi, and the bed was comfortable. Location wise, it was about 25-30 minutes away from everywhere we wanted to go, as we expected. It gave us the privacy we wanted, and the quiet, country atmosphere we love. There were grocery stores, restaurants, and a laundromat within 10 minutes. Easy to get to IF you have an EZ Pass transponder. Order one ahead of your trip if you don't have one. We drove to the Greenbelt Metro train line to go into Washington DC. Strongly recommend having a GPS to travel anywhere there. The freeway/road system is amazing, but can easily get confusing if you don't have it well mapped out.

Car: recommended

Don't settle for boring and blah! Hang out by our old red horse barn, watch the renovation in progress on our historic Victorian farmhouse, and relax in peace and quiet in our carriage house loft. 30-45 minutes to DC or Baltimore!

We live in the beautiful Victorian farmhouse on what used to be an 18 acre farm in historic Sandy Spring. Now we're surrounded by mansions, but you'll still feel like you stepped back in time as you drive up the gravel driveway and relax looking out over the wooded backyard with huge trees, tons of green, and a cool old red barn to top it all off...

You'll have ample room to park and full access through a private 2nd floor entrance to the carriage house loft.

Our dog will bark at you as you drive up the driveway, but otherwise you'll have complete peace and quiet and you'll hardly know we're there unless you need something.
