The wide sandy beach is dreamy. It is not a crowded beach whatsoever. I've been the only person on the beach more than once. The privacy that this gorgeous log cabin brings can be treasured. The outside deck stretches over the back end of the cottage facing Lake Michigan.
2 kitchens on separate floors allow a large family to have their individual space. New living room furniture and a screened in porch are key features.
Cabin in the dunes is a great place to escape. We spent Labor weekend there with family and friends, and it amazing. I forgot that night time can have such an incredible view of a sky, living in a city doesn't allow you that. Noting more you need, smell of a pine woods, sound of the waves hitting the shore, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Thanks.
We loved the seclusion of the property along with your own private beach! The night sky was fantastic! The home had more than enough space to fit our group of 10. There is plenty to do around the area as well. I would definitely recommend the Cabin in the dunes and hope to go back! The property was clean and maintained.
Our family had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful cabin on Lake Michigan. Property was clean and was even better in person than in the pictures. We enjoyed the very private beach - sunrise, sunset, bonfires, walking on the beach, and some even braved the chilly water to swim. We had a little trouble locating the 5th bedroom which could not be reached from inside the house, but it was a fun little room - almost like camping. We only saw 3.5 bathrooms, so if there was another one we never saw it. Our family took trips to Mackinac Island, Pictured Rocks and Tahquanamon Falls; all were about an hour and a half from the cabin. Dealing with the rental office was a breeze and we would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting this area. Our only recommendation for improvement to this house would be bigger and more comfortable beds. There is plenty of room for air mattresses though if you are not comfortable in the double beds! Great house!
This was our first "Home Away" experience. We celebrated Christmas there. On our way up to the "north" we didn't have a placed booked. We found this one called Jangle and she got us right in. We had never been up to the UP so we didn't know what to expect. We were hoping for snow since the kids had never seen it. We didn't experience the snow but the cold weather was plenty for us Floridian. Better spent in 30* weather than hot and humid Florida Christmas. All I have to say that I totally recommend this cabin to anyone! The gals who helped us were so helpful and accommodating. We never once had to call them for anything because we had everything we needed! The cabin is beautiful and VERY WELL built. Not once did we feel cold or chilly. We woke up feeling refreshed and warm. :) As a family of 9 we had no problems accomodating the children. They had a blast playing on the Dunes and when they were tired we had plenty of channels to watch those holiday movies, wifi connection to update the awesome vacation on Facebook, and supplied board games to play. I think my boys were in Risk heaven. :) The view was amazing and the place while feeling very cozy and intimate. We loved burning the chopped wood that was available to us on the wood burning stove. Had a great Christmas Eve meal on the beautiful dining room table. Also had a washer and dryer which is a must with lots of people in the family. We also went site seeing to Pictured Rock National Park which I highly recommend. It was beautiful!! We didn't get a chance to go see the huge waterfall they have up there...maybe next time! We miss the UP! Some of the kids have said they want to move there. Haha!!
What an awesome cabin for a large family! Plenty of room where no one felt cramped in the least! The views of Lake Michigan were absolutely mesmerizing!! The boardwalk to the lake was awesome for an active family like ours. (Elderly or handicapped would have difficulty making it to the beach.) The two kitchens made it nice to have plenty of room to store and prepare food! The fact that there were two different lighthouses within a few miles of either direction from the cabin was a pleasant surprise for me!!! We made the trip to Pictured Rocks (a little over an hour drive) which was absolutely more than worth it!!!! Cara was more than helpful with just a few questions we had while we stayed! The cabin was very clean and well stocked with your basic needs! (Plenty of NICE towels for our large family!) We would more than recommend this place to family and friends and will more than likely return there ourselves!!!
Lots of space, quiet location, lake access via private beach was great. Very comfortable and close enough to town to keep things stocked. Great attractions within a couple hour drive or less. Slept 11 people very comfortably. Internet speed was slow, but good way to keep mostly disconnected yet still informed about the rest of the world.
40 minutes to Pictured Rocks. Just 5 miles from the town of Manistique
