Great Rental Right on Lake Michigan
We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing weekend at this home right on Lake Michigan. This home was fully equipped with everything we needed to enjoy a few quiet days at the beach. Peace and quiet was wonderful and we were still close enough to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes to run up for a few hours of four wheeling fun on Saturday and still have plenty of time to soak up some sun on our private beachfront. A bonus of watching several hummingbirds enjoying the feeders that hung on each corner of the deck.
Kelly,
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Please come and visit us again! -Rhonda
Lakeside retreat
What a perfect spot for 5 old friends to spend some time together, enjoying the gorgeous beach and lakeside setting in early fall. Nicely set up for comfort and amusement, we found great spaces for solitude and for communing together. Wonderful beach walks (if you don't mind wet feet sometimes), friendly hummingbirds and fantastic sunsets. The kitchen was equipped with everything our gourmet meals required and you don't miss the lake while cooking or cleaning up. We all left renewed and refreshed, with our friendship reconfirmed by great memories of our great time together. Thanks for the homey hospitality!
Had a great stay.
Took the whole family on a vacation and loved staying at Huckleberry Hideaway. All adults had there own sleeping areas where we could get away for quite time then all meet back in the house for meals and family time. The kitchen is very efficient. The view from the upper deck is astonishing, have never enjoyed more beautiful sunsets. Remote and quiet setting that is truly away from it all. We loved it.
Nostalgic, peaceful, get away!
We stayed at the Huckleberry Hideaway the first week of August. Perfect location right on Lake Michigan in a peaceful and quiet area that was completely away from it all. The quaint cottage with it's 2 other out buildings (the sleeping porch was a perfect place to get out of the sun and read in the late afternoons and my daughter enjoyed playing pool in the space over the garage) provided everything we needed for a great stay. I am a clean freak, and can assure you that this home was immaculate! I also appreciated the fact that the kitchen was well appointed with almost any tool, pot, or pan I could possibly need to cook wonderful meals for my family. This is a true plus for me, as I've rented so many places in the past that were hardly equipped with the barest of essentials....and I love to cook, even on vacation. This nostalgic cottage has been well taken care of and well loved and we felt utterly comfortable and at home. I appreciated that we could bring our dog (who fetched endlessly in the water), and also that there was flexibility to rent less than a week given our limited time frame....though I wish we could have stayed longer. A big thank you for sharing this lovely property with us!
Great getaway!
Our family of 4 just returned from our stay at Huckleberry Hideaway. We have 2 boys, 10 and 14. They enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake. The water was so close and quite warm for Lake Michigan. It was so peaceful and quiet. We did have a little technology withdrawal without any TV or cell service. The wi-fi connection wasn't bad, but it only worked in the main house. The drive to town is about 20 minutes, so stock up and stay at the cottage! We were able to try out the different rooms, and they were all comfortable. I'm giving this rental 5 stars, but I do feel it was a bit more rustic than I was anticipating. This could be my own fault for not asking more questions. There are also many steep stairs leading to the house. Not a problem for us, but maybe for others. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
Great Stay with family
We loved our stay at this home. As soon as we stepped in I felt the nostalgia of being on an "Up North" vacation as a kid. I am so glad my boys will have the same memories thanks to this cottage! The beach was incredible and the beds were very comfortable. As a family of four we were actually unable to enjoy all that this place has to offer. There are multiple spaces like the “bungalow”, the “Pool room” and just some great deck areas to sit and enjoy. There are no steps to the beach you walk right out the lower level, off the deck and across the sand (No Rocks!) The cottage has a very nostalgic feel, although a little dated (which we actually loved), it is in very good condition. So here are few things that will help enhance your stay: It is a bit of a drive to town, which again was a plus for us. When arriving you have a great drive down a private wooded drive for a bit. You're not lost just keep going and enjoy it. By about 2pm, close the shades on the front of the cottage, it will get warm in there if you don't, but you SHOULD be at the beach anyway! Other than that, for the price it is a great place, safe, quiet and fun!! We will be coming back!
Joseph, We loved having you!!! This cottage is so charming...we are so glad you loved it and were able to make great memories for the kids. We would LOVE to have you back! - Rhonda, Shore House Property Services
