This 1920 Saranac Lake Classic Village home on Kiwassa Road was purchased and lovingly fully restored in 2010.
Your vacation will be especially memorable when you stay in this beautiful home that easily accommodates 10+ family members or multiple families looking to vacation together.
With just a short walk to downtown Saranac Lake and a short drive to Lake Placid, the heart of the Adirondacks and all that it offers is just moments away!
Whether you enjoy golfing, boating, swimming, hiking, downhill skiing, X-country skiing, snowshoeing, visiting all the Olympic venues or simply enjoying an easy hike through one of the endless trails, this "home away from home" will be your center point.
The first floor offers very large common areas for everyone with a beautiful new kitchen, a special adirondack style dining room that automatically seats 10, a half bath and a large living room and family room with fireplace.
The second floor offers three spacious bedrooms for all the adults. The master suite is very large with its own private porch (complete with TV and office space) king bed and master bath. The 2nd bedroom offers a queen bed and beautiful private full bathroom. The 3rd bedroom also offers a queen bed with a full bathroom just outside the door.
The third floor is the "hit" with the kids. It's been completely renovated to offer two bedrooms and a half bath. One of the bedrooms offers 3 twin beds and is often called the "girls" room while the second bedroom offers 2 beds (with space for another twin Aero bed if needed) and is outfitted in fly fishing motif. This room is understandably dubbed the "boys" room. The real plus is that it also contains the TV, wireless internet and a Wii game console (shh.....don't tell the girls!)
The final bonus is the basement which serves as the best "man cave" around! With a flat screen TV mounted for everything ESPN has to offer, a professional pool table, darts, and golf putting course, the basement is the hangout for everyone of all ages.
Did I mention the house sits on over 2 acres! You wouldn't expect that in a village home but we enjoy spacious privacy. Just walk out the door and our backyard is acres of hiking! We even have a friendly deer, nicknamed "Fern" that comes for visits with her fawn.
Come to the Adirondacks and stay in Saranac Lake.....we know you will love our home as much as we do!

As a graduate from Paul Smiths College, my husband introduced our family to the Saranac Lake region many years ago. We actually bought our first home in SL back in 1993 and lived there for three years. Family took us back to MA but we have been bringing our children back to the region for many years now. They have learned to ski and swim in the area and the family memories we have created are too many to count. We have always dreamed of owning our vacation home in SL and that dream became a reality finally in late 2009. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do!

Our love for the Saranac chain of lakes and all that they offer (camping, boating, hiking, fishing, hunting or sailing) as well as skiing at either Titus Mtn or Whiteface, makes Saranac Lake the perfect "middle ground". We can always choose to drive into Lake Placid to shop or go to the movies but have always preferred the lower tourist volumes and quieter environment that Saranac Lake offers. It's truly a small town feel and it's no surprise that it was voted as one of the Top 100 Small Towns in America.
We had our biannual family reunion in Upstate New York this summer. Three out of five families stayed at this home, and all of us ate several meals here. The kitchen is great for cooking for larger groups. Well equipped and roomy. The highlight for the kids (age ranges from upper elementary to college) was the basement pool table. We had access to a lake and boating at another location, so we spent time on the water elsewhere. There is a marina for boat rentals in town. Had one dinner out at the Red Fox Inn. Food was really good in unpresupposing building on edge of town. Owners were wonderful in supplying staples and giving detailed information on swimming options. Pricey but worth it!
We rented this house for Ironman week July 2012. Since my husband was doing the race and wanted to be close we also had a room at the Marriott courtyard for the 3 nights before the race. This was perfect as we were able to enjoy the area without the crowds the race brought in but were close for preface activities. We had 10 other family members staying at the house and we all had plenty of room. The drive into Lake Placid was much easier than I expected, 15-20 minted tops and race day- family was able to catch a shuttle from parking area b in saranac and was bused right to the Olympic center. Much easier than for us tring to get our car back to the marriot once race was underway.
The house was extremely comfortable and I am very picky. We were lucky enough to have the master bedroom and bath and loved it. Very spacious and great mattress. There were 2 dining areas and we used one for adults and one for all the kids which was great. Kitchen was new and very well stocked. We did vacuum early in the stay which was necessary but otherwise the house was very clean. The owners allowed us to use the kayaks which was a great treat and everyone loved them. Fortunately one of our family had a padded truck bed to bring them around the corner to the Lake Flower boat launch. The house has a large steep backyard with fire pit area and swing. The kids loved climbing up the mountain and playing back there. Basement had a pol table and darts but we were too busy on the water and exploring and didn't get down there except to do laundry which was wonderful to have. Things to do include the Olympic sites ( we bought the passports to save money), mirror lake, walking main street lake placid, fishing, camping, boating. There is an aldi and grand union for groceries with in 5 minutes. Tail of the pup had great barbecue but was the only place we ate out as we cooks every night. . Bring fishing gear ( and get fishing license, Debbie mentioned DEC/police are strict) and we saw them every day we were fishing. We rented an island to camp at in lower saranac lake which was cheap $35 a night and an awesome time for the kids. They are boat access only so plan a boat rental -but so much fun for the camping type. Weather was incredible in July. Race day was hot but otherwise perfect and cool at night for making smores by the fire. Best vacation we have had in years. Didn't want it too end.
We enjoyed our family get together for Christmas week. There was plenty of room and rooms for the adults and kids. The kitchen is well equipped to satisfy all cooks. We enjoyed our walks to town and the trips to Lake Placid were just a short ride away. We left talking about a future return for our family of 12.

We just stayed at this property for a week with 12 people for a family reunion, it was so wonderful! There was everything you could need, everything felt brand new and in wonderful condition. The house was clean and cozy and everything was truly perfect. The setting with wooded back yards was perfect for the kids, they loved climbing the hills! 15 minute drive to lake placid! Highly recommend this house!
Stayed here for 2 nights in early December.
Our party included 3 couples and 3 small children.
The home itself is a large older home that has been modernly updated.
Two out of the three bedrooms are large and include attached bath, the third bedroom has a queen bed but tight quarters ( no big deal just some info) ,and has its own bath in the hallway.
All the baths are modern with upscale finishes.
The master bedroom is like an apartment with its own living/dining area, beautiful.
Upstairs the boys and girls rooms also share a bath.
In town location but secluded.
We took the kids to North Pole NY (about 30 mins away) and spent some time in Lake Placid.
As for food, we grilled the first night, just beware that groceries in the Adirondacks tend to be quite a bit more expensive, so cooking at home really wont save any money if that is your goal.
We had Little Italy pizza, which is only 2 minutes away.
It was descent pizza and hoagies but no delivery.
Also I highly recommend the Eat and Meet Grill in downtown Saranac Lake.
The menu is updated and posted online daily, call your order in and take back to the house.
There is not much seating inside but the food quality is unparalleled and is as good as it gets.
Although it was just my husband and myself, we came up from Tennessee to enjoy a week of fun in the Adirondacks. This home was our home away from home. It was furnished with everything a person would want, it was very clean and cozy. We look forward to going back again next summer.
