Great Cruz Bay Estates Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

St John Island is truly paradise, and with affordable accommodations such as Larimar, it is also ensures that St John is an economical destination. We have recently redecorated our island retreat and are just now offering Larimar as a rental.

Our two bedroom condo is located just a short walk from Cruz Bay Town on a shady street with views of the ocean and other nearby Caribbean islands.

Enjoy open air living at Larimar with Caribbean tradewinds blowing through the numerous windows surrounding the bedrooms and living area.

Cruz Bay restaurants, shopping, ferry dock, and hiking trails are within easy walking distance. Plus, Larimar is just steps from wonderful Frank Bay for sunning and enjoying the warm Caribbean Sea.

Perfect for honeymooners, two couples or a small family to enjoy.

The large (34' x 8') common pool (shared by the other 3 condos) has ample lounge chairs and plenty of sunny areas to take home the perfect Caribbean tan.

Larimar's on-island caretakers, Steve and Lisa, will personally meet you at the ferry dock upon your arrival to St. John, escort you to Larimar, and give you an introduction to the property and St. John.

Great Anniversary Vacation on St John

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a fabulous 9 day stay on St John. We've been there twice before and had different accommodations each time. Although they all had great features Larimar had the best combination not the least of which was it's proximity to Cruz Bay. The other condos we stayed at you had to drive to town, which is tricking after visiting some of the wonderful bars and restaurants. From Larimar It was an easy walk to town as it was all down hill. The walk back is a little more difficult as you have to climb a moderate hill. Actually it was great exercise!

The condo itself was very nice although slightly over kill for just 2 people. The entire unit was very clean and comfortable, especially the master bed. There were plenty of bath towels (I preferred to air dry) and beach towels (again I air dried) along with great beach chairs. Having coolers was also a huge benefit for the beach. The only minor fault I could find was that the kitchen was small and the refrigerator looked like it should be replaced, although it worked fine. The other thing is that it only had a small George Forman grill on the deck, not the gas grill shown in the pictures. We don't like air conditioners so that wasn't an issue, the ceiling and floor fans kept us cool enough and kept the tiny bugs away. Don't plan on sleeping in as the roosters, peacock and morning doves start making a major racket beginning around 4:30am every morning, actually we experienced those natural noises at the other condos too. It's just part of the experience. Oh yeah, then there was the two construction projects going on at either end of the street that began at 6:45am everyday... can't blame the owners for any of that. When all is said and done, I would highly recommend this place and will definitely considerate for our next visit. Oh yes, Steve was a great guy and a big help and always available if needed. Oh before I forget, someone said it's an easy walk to Solomon/Honeymoon Beach, NOT SO! If you start at the beginning of the trail it's a 30 minute walk and another 15 minutes from the condo. I'm in very good shape but to me the hike isn't worth it. Go to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay those are by far the best beaches. Ok now I'm done.

Family Vacation in St. John

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly special time on St. John and staying at Larimar. This condo was a great value, super-convenient, and we loved it. We were close to all the restaurants, activities and trails, but in a quiet neighborhood. If were get to come back, we would rent it again. We had the pool to ourselves every day. Every meal we ate at the condo was on the spacious and shaded porch. We walked to downtown Cruz Bay for at least one meal each day, and while the hills were steep, they were short. The views of the boats and ships in the Bay, and the tiny salt pond, kept me occupied with binoculars for hours. We watched birds and lizards and iguanas A LOT. We appreciated the convenient parking along the street. We have two teenagers so the walking was easy, but if you have kids who are under 8, they might get worn out with all the fun St. John provides and THEN the uphill walk home. Wifi was key and worked flawlessly. The kitchen is well equipped and tidy. Finishes and linens are just fine - nothing special but comfortable and not so precious that you worried about dirty feet and sandy towels. And speaking of towels, they provide you with a TON and you cannot imagine why until you have used almost every single one - hiking to beaches, swimming in pool.

One caveat - there is not AC. If you "run hot" this condo might not be okay for a summer rental. In the winter/spring, I'm sure it is fine, but it was about 90 degrees all week for us. We were fine with the ceiling and floor fans. Oh, and bring earplugs sleeping - the local chickens and peacocks wake up very early and the screen-only windows don't let you shut them out.

Steve and Lisa got us settled and gave us the quick tour of town. They were available for any hitch or problem, but we never needed them. We would recommend a day sail charter and snorkeling with Captain Phil of the Wayward Sailor and also the ranger-guided hike on the Reef Bay Trail. Enjoy!

Girls Week in St. John

  • 5 of 5

Larimar is wonderful. The condo is really lovely inside and has a fabulous balcony. Its perfectly located just up the hill from Cruz Bay and easy walking distance to Solomon and Honeymoon beaches (two of the nicest on the island). The hosts, Steve and Lisa, are wonderful. They are welcoming and helpful and immediately make guests feel at home. We would definitely stay here again.

Girls' trip to Larimar on St. John in April

  • 5 of 5

I visited St. John for the first time this April with 2 girlfriends. We stayed at Larimar to have extra room to spread out over 5 nights, and it was perfect! Steve and Lisa greeted us as we got off the ferry, gave us a quick tour of downtown, and drove us up the hill to the condo. They're wonderful!! Everything is exactly as advertised and looks just like the pictures. The rooms were very comfortable, kitchen was perfect for breakfast or late-night snacks, the hammock on the porch and great view were amazing! We didn't use the pool much, but it was nice to have available. We rented a jeep for several days to explore the island. Free parking right in front of the condo was super helpful, as were the beach chairs & towels & cooler which were available at Larimar. We would drive around to different beaches for snorkeling during the day, return to the condo to clean up, and walk into town each night. Perfect location - just a short walk into town, but it was comforting to have the quiet and safety of being up the hill. I would highly recommend Larimar - and St. John, and will absolutely stay there again!! We also took the Bad Kitty catamaran excursion to Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Norman Island. Highly recommend that as well.

Larimar at Villa Caribe

  • 5 of 5

This Villa was perfect for our 20th wedding anniversary trip! I can't say enough good things about this Villa, Cruz Bay, St. John, and our whole vacation. We truly did not want to leave. The Villa has wonderful views of the water, which was my favorite part! It is walkable distance to downtown Cruz Bay and all of the wonderful restaurants and night life. The Villa was very comfortable. The beds were great. It is well stocked with kitchen needs, linens and reference books about St. John as well as fun books to read. The Villa even has extras you can use while there such as beach chairs, coolers, sunscreen, etc. There is no air conditioner but you don't need one. We kept perfectly cool with the ceiling and floor fans. We rented a jeep on this trip to St. John so we could get to other parts of the island that we did not see on our last trip there. It was nice to be able to hop in our jeep each day and try out a different bay for snorkeling. Steve and Lisa were great hosts and filled us in on all of the needed information about the Villa and St. John. I would highly recommend this Villa and can't wait to come back to it on our next trip to St. John!

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

Me and 2 friends traveled to St John to celebrate a birthday, and really loved St John! The beaches are amazing; the water is so clear and beautiful. We decided to rent a condo instead of stay at a hotel, and this condo was very cute and well stocked with everything that we needed: beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, all kitchen things we would need to cook, cable TV and wifi. The beds were SUPER comfortable, as was the hammock out on the deck. The condo is located very close into town, and it's an easy walk to restaurants and hiking trails. It should be noted, though, that this condo does not have a/c, which I didn't know prior to arrival. There are ceiling fans in every room and multiple floor fans, but it was quite warm at night, and we all woke up several times in the middle of the night. I have been told, though, that not many condos have a/c; so if you require a/c make sure you ask if it's available. All in all, though, it was a great stay, and I would not hesitate to come back to St John in the future!
