About Roger Vivas
I am a Venezuelan adopted by Columbus, which I proudly call my second hometown. I have traveled the world extensively and my best experiences always came from small places owned and managed by people who really cared; not only about their business and their guests but also their community. With Vivas Guesthouse, I have the opportunity to make a difference to those who visit this great city and to the German Village neighborhood. I am apart of this community; an ambassador who is eager to share my knowledge with others so they can understand why Columbus is so great! I can suggest what to see, where to eat or even cook for you myself. I am here to ensure your stay is wonderful. I have dedicated my career to hospitality; worked for years in hotels and restaurants and wanted to get away from the cookie cutter. A destination like Vivas Guesthouse will save you from having to feel like a stranger occupying one of the hundreds of identical rooms. Vivas Guesthouse is a boutique destination that feels like home. You can use one of the many bikes to explore the neighborhood, stay in the master suite that I built with my own hands, and even cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. Or even better, have me cook that meal for you. I hope you enjoy your stay. Warmest Regards, Roger Vivas

Lovely and convenient
This house is very well thought out; with a beautiful decoration and offering everything we needed. Free wifi, cable, outdoor space. Not to mention the location; we LOVED German Village.
This place is a MUST and with an amazing host!
Cold when we arrived; NO working refrigerator or freezer. Bare minimum
The location was good; the place was clean. But there were no "extras" or nice arrival touches. The owner was not quick to get back to me about the refrigerator that was not working. We lost our food/had no cold drinks that we had brought. Most places we stay have coffee, bath hand towel, and paper towels. This house had none of those.
Was a great Location!!
This was a very neat place to stay in the heart of a great neighborhood Columbus experience. We are a family with young kids and we loved being able to be walking distance to the park. Always having a parking spot available in front of house was great. The home was nice, it had a rustic eclectic feel to it. Had plenty of room and supplies for our family of 5. The home is clearly a very old home and had some show of this and a bit of cobwebs, maybe just need some focus from the cleaning people on this but this was probably my only negative thing to say. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond to us arriving and when we needed anything. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend this home. It truly was all about Location on this one that made it for us.
German Village Duplex
The homes in German Villlage are so cute and quirky and have so much character and this home was no exception. The furniture and beds were comfortable. The location was perfect for what we had planned. There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The neighborhood was safe and friendly and there was plenty of on street parking right in front of the house. However, the reason for the 4 stars and not 5 are as follows:
1) The fridge wasn’t working properly. It was warm and kept nothing cold. We had to go out and buy a cooler and ice to keep our drinks and cheese from spoiling. I alerted Roger about this issue but did not hear back from him.
2) The shades on the bedroom windows didn’t block any light and offerd little privacy. I had to hang towels on the windows to block out the harvest moon and street lights so we could sleep.
3) Paper towels, extra dish towels and dish washing detergent were missing from kitchen, however, there was plenty of shampoos, conditioners and toilet paper in bathroom.
4)There were no check out instructions. We did a few things like stripped the beds and gathered used towels. We couldn’t find a garbage can out back so we just left the trash bag in the kitchen.
Great location but be advised...
The location is wonderful! The area is exactly where we wanted to be. Some things you may want to know before you rent:
The steps to the second floor are very steep with no handrail.
The shower is quite difficult to get in and out of.
The refrigerator did not work the entire time we were there and the owner was apologetic but it did not get handled and he did not communicate well with us.
There is no off-street parking here.
The television and wifi were not operable during our stay.
Two of the three bedrooms are decent sized and the beds are very comfortable.
Nice Home in German Village
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this home. We loved the location and had a great time exploring German Village. The only issue we had was with the fridge. It didn’t keep anything cold and we had to put ice in to keep it remotely cold. Other than that, the house was clean, had plenty of towels and linens, and the right amount of kitchenware for cooking. Would recommend to stay in this area again.
