Awesome Family Time!
We rented this cabin on the Jackson River for Thanksgiving this year, and we were so pleased with EVERYTHING that this placed offered. We loved the small town feel, the fishing, the coziness of the cabin. The owners are very well attentive and supply the cabin with anything and everything that you could possibly need. The fireplace was the icing on the cake!!! We even caught a few fish and the Teepee added a great touch! Being a black walnut fan, this place had hundreds of them, so we enjoyed cracking and eating them, while sitting by the campfire. The kitchen provided us with everything to prepare and cook our Thanksgiving feast. Thank you again, for sharing your cozy cabin!!!
Adventure at it's Best!
Our 3 families, 10 of us, and our 3 small dogs stayed at "Family Camp" in mid August. We had a great time kayaking 12 miles on the Jackson River, fly fishing, trout fishing, biking down the Scenic Jackson Trail, enjoying the camp fire pit, and preparing and eating way to much food!!! The house was cozy and clean. The location is perfect as it sits right on the river. It made for an easy stop point for our kayak trips...pull them right out of the river onto the bank! The river is gorgeous and clean. Our boys loved swimming in the "swimming holes". We caught rainbow and brown trout. My youngest son loved catching crawdads! The owner, Mike Moldenhauer, was extremely helpful and provided quick responses to our questions. We would definitely love to return for another vacation.
Beautiful property along The Jackson River! They had everything to entertain everyone in our family (ranging in age from 1 to 65). Spent time rafting, kayaking, fishing, sight seeing and relaxing around the camp fire. Mike was pleasant to deal with and gave great advice on things to do in the area. The cottage was very clean and well stocked for our stay. There's a gas station 1 mile away for other needs ice, drinks and etc. No need to bring food and supplies with you, there's a Walmart 20 minutes away.
Great place to stay for an outdoorsy family or someone just looking for a quiet place to relax. I have already recommended it to some of our family & friends for there next vacation.
We will definitely be contacting you again in the future Mike to schedule another family vacation. Next time for a longer stay though, because 5 days wasn't enough!
Perfect property for family gatherings.
We had a wonderful experience at this property.
The cabin is comfortable and well equipped. It is a perfect place for family gatherings and so beautiful by the river. Highly recommended! Robin Erickson
Perfect spot on the River
We rented this home for a mid summer vacation. It is great place to relax and unwind and the photos do not do it justice. The stretch of the Jackson river the cottage sits on is awesome, clear, cold, and clean with lots of landings to start or end your float from. We spent a lot of time playing in the river floating and tubing. The trout fishing is challenging but good and I enjoyed fishing early mornings and late evenings while the kids were resting. The cottage itself is great, it was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. In addition, the garage had a nice raft, kayaks, and tubes for the use on the river. The raft was a great way to introduce the kids to floating down the river and there were a bunch of life jackets to use as well. We also spent a day at Douthat State Park which is only half an hour away and really is a state treasure.
I would highly reccomend this cottage if you need to get away. A bit of advice I would pass on- the river really is wonderful and great for families to enjoy, but remember you need to respect it, there are currents and riffles so make sure the kids wear a life jacket when tubing or kayaking and pay attention. Also there are some special regulations on the trout fishing but well worth it as there are healthy, strong fish in the water that are a challenge to catch.
Many times when I take a vacation I am ready to head for home by the end it, this was not the case at this cottage, when we had to pack up and leave I felt like we could have stayed on longer.
Amazing! Very well kept... and easy to work with owners!
We reserved this for an extended weekend and found it more than what we could have wanted! We ranged from ages 2 to 68 and all 10 of us easily fit in the house, found lots of activities even for a teen ager :) and had more adventures that could be fulfilled. In fact the whole family agreed to meet here again. I have already referred two other groups to this location!
