Before I get to the house, let me say that John and Maria go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcomed and cared for. Maria's binder of information was very thorough and helped us navigate around and plan out our time in Boston. We ate at some of the recommended nearby restaurants and were very pleased, especially with James's Gate.
The house was very clean and cozy. Everything we needed was there. The beds were pleasantly comfortable - typically a rare thing when travelling. We were in town for the Boston Marathon so it was especially nice to have the washer and dryer to wash the smelly running clothes!
It was nice being in Jamaica Plain because we could easily get to all the marathon events during the day, but then come back to a quiet place in the evening. Our kids loved the 2 nearby playgrounds and the arboretum. There were also good running trails just a block from the house. Travel into the city was a 5 minute walk to the station or bus stop and then either a 10-15 minute train ride or 20-25 minute bus ride.
We would highly recommend this property. Should we come back for the marathon next year, you will have to beat us to booking it!
We stayed at this duplex in December 2016. The house was incredibly well equipped with extra bedding, towels and blankets. The kitchen was perfect and had anything you might need to feed a family, and the entire unit was spotless. There were a number of toys and DVD's for the younger set as well. Perhaps the best thing is that it is a 8 minute walk through a lovely parkway to the T, which will get you anywhere in the city quickly and easily. Jamaica Plain also has a number of great pubs and restaurants, and the owner furnishes menus so that you can check out the food before you go. Altogether a wonderful, quiet place to stay at a very reasonable rate. Will use this VRBO again.
This house was very comfortable and had everything we needed - even a washer & dryer! The owners are friendly and helpful. Upon leaving the house the first morning, I ran into John and mentioned that I couldn't find the hair dryer. By the time we returned to the house, there was one waiting for us at the front door! (Later, I did find the hair dryer.) Maria was very prompt on an email reply when I had a question. This house is less than a 10 minute walk, through a well-lit park and neighborhood, to the Orange line "Green Street" T station. It is also within walking distance to a street with coffee shops and a wide variety of restaurants. The next time I am in Boston, I will check to see if this house is available.
A very nice place to stay. Well looked after, clean and exactly as described.
There were 4 of us, and it was the perfect size.
It's only a short walk from the T station, though this might seem further in the depths of winter.
You can also walk a few minutes to some restaurants and shop. We had a very good family dinner at The Bukhara Indian Bistro.
A couple of things to be aware of:
1) The bathroom is downstairs
2) The double be is against a wall, so someone will have to clamber into bed!
We've already booked for our next Boston visit.
Maria provided a nice, well-stocked place for a family up to five. Half mile walk to some restaurants and shopping. Safe neighborhood and easy access to the orange line. Thanks Maria!
Stayed here for a week while visiting family and exploring Boston. The home is nicely furnished, very clean, and in a great location - convenient to public transportation. The owners have gone out of their make guests feel welcome. The binder containing information about area restaurants and local attractions proved helpful and the directions to the bus stop and subway station - especially the short-cut to the Orange Line - helped us navigate public transportation as if we lived there.
