What a fantastic Colorado vacation home. GREAT location near to both summer and winter activities. It's a home away from home--clean and cute with great beds and plenty of space. If you're looking for a headquarters for your mountain vacation, you won't do better than this South Fork cabin. My family and I can't wait to go back!!!!!
We spent four wonderful days at this cabin in South Fork. The cabin is rustic, but with very comfortable beds and furniture. We were only minutes away from Creed with its great restaurants, mountain trails for four-wheeling and hiking, and streams for fly fishing. It is a perfect location for driving the Alpine Loop if you are into four wheel drive excursions. After a day of exercise, sitting on the deck and resting in the hot tub were as close to perfect as one can get. Truly a great getaway location!
The location of this house was perfect for our family over spring break. Easy drive to Wolf Creek Ski Area, where the staff are wonderful and really make you feel at home and welcome. The house had plenty of space / seating in the family room and dining area. Separate bedroom upstairs with a bath was great retreat for teen. Furnace works fantastic! Fireplace too! Hot tub is nice after a long day of skiing (water could have been cleaner and better maintained) Would recommend this home for family with older children (teens +) as the stairwell is made of real logs and is a little challenging to navigate and not really safe for anyone under the age of seven as the railing is wide open and it is steep. Kitchen is stocked, though pots, pans, utensils are seriously used and out dated, kitchen still has most things you need minus a dishwasher. The absence of a dish washer was a challenge since we cooked almost every meal. The refrigerator was not working very well (not cold) and could probably stand to be serviced or replaced. Downstairs bath was nice with new large capacity washer and dryer and a nice supply of laundry soap and dryer sheets. Lots of nice thick towels for use. Bed and linens throughout house were comfortable and nice. Decor is very " Colorado" with authentic log construction and real wildlife decor. If you're a hunter / fisher you will like the cozy real wildlife theme. If you're a member of PETA, you will not want to stay here. Overall, I would recommend this home, but I do suggest some updating and maintenance for the above mentioned items. With a little attention and maintenance, this house is would be 5 star, as is, its probably a 3.
We couldn't have found a more perfect setting for our Thanksgiving gathering. The family room has comfy sofas and chairs and a new TV that we put to great use watching all of the "Hunger Games" DVD's. The kitchen is well equipped with new pots and pans and all of the gadgets/utensils needed to prepare a Thanksgiving feast. The bedrooms had plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable. Soft clean linens. The bath towels were thick, soft and the bathrooms were very clean. The cabin is rustic, but very nice. It's very homey and comfortable. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. It snowed about 6 inches while we were there which made for an even more picture perfect setting. (We were relieved when the snowplows came right in front of the cabin the morning that we were driving back to the Denver airport). We'll definitely re-book this cabin.
My family and I have stayed at this cabin many times over the years in both the summer and winter seasons. We find it to have a warm, and very home like feel. It is very relaxing to come home to after a day of hiking or skiing at Wolf Creek. We have enjoyed many adventures in the mountains around South Fork and Creed. I would not change anything about this cabin, as it has just the right amount of simple luxuries while keeping true to its authentic rustic charm. We hope to stay there many times in future as we still have a lot to explore in the area. I would recommend this cabin to anyone that is looking for a peaceful place to come home to and rest after a long day of enjoying the natural beauty of Colorado.
Cabin has everything you need or want. Rustic exterior and interior make you feel like you are really in the wide open spaces. Location is convenient to lots of fishing rivers/streams. We fished two days while at the cabin. For the hikers there are plenty of trails close by. My daughter and her husband enjoyed the hikes. We rented ATVs one day and had a blast, there was lots of beautiful country to see. We didn't go white water rafting on this trip but have done that in the past. Then, the best part was in the evening when you can simmer in a hot tub while sipping a glass of wine. We had a great week.
