Even more beautiful than expected

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 families that included many kids staying and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was well equipped to deal with large groups. The only negative we had is that the airflow on the bottom floor was not very good. It was very hot and with no AC was difficult to cool down. The view is absolutely breathtaking. We are already planning to stay again.

Awesome views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed our stay. We are two large families that stayed here with several children (21 people total). The manager Emily was very gracious and welcoming. We loved how roomy the cabin was and that there were plenty of dishes, linens, towels etc. The privacy is wonderful and the views from the cabin are simply amazing. We were wishing that there would have been snow at the cabin for the little ones to be able to do some sliding while the older kids were skiing, but, of course, that is uncontrollable. Also, the good Finns that we are, were missing a sauna. :) There is a steam shower in the master bedroom upstairs but it did not work. The cabin is a little outdated but it was tidy and clean and well sufficed for our purposes. The owners did a wonderful job communicating with us and giving us suggestions and tips on things to do in the area. We would definitely like to come again.

Lake Springs Lodge

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 13 adults and three children spent Christmas week of 2016 at the beautiful Lake Springs Lodge. An amazing property built on a hill overlooking the valley and nearby mountains. The vistas were incredible - cloud wrapped Mt Sopris was mysterious and beautiful, and the sunsets and sunrises were breathtaking. Deer roam nearby and there is hardly another home in sight. The lodge was comfortable and spacious and thoughtfully decorated for Christmas. The on site manager was helpful and friendly but did not intrude. A short drive takes you into town for groceries and restaurants, skiing at Mt Sunlight and the relaxing hot springs pools. Not too far are Snowmass and Aspen. It was a lovely place to stay and we were grateful to the generous owners that share their beautiful home while they work as medical missionaries in Mexico. We were very pleased and happy to stay at this lodge.

Cabin needs updating but the views and setting are beautiful.

  • 3 of 5

This is a difficult property/experience to assess. I guess I'll sum it up by saying that in spite of encountering a number of problems with the property, we did enjoy the beautiful setting and loved our time in Glenwood Springs.

First the positive- The cabin is large and has amazing views. It accommodates a lot of people with beds, bathrooms and space. As already stated, the setting is lovely. Also, the property manager, Kathy, is a gem and was wonderful to work with.

Now the negatives. Although large, the cabin is in need of updating. The fridge is old and very inadequate for large groups of people. There were many little inconveniences such as the trash compactor breaking, their very old toaster stopped working, and one of the toilets (in the basement) gave us trouble too. Again, it simply needs updating & some repairs & replacing of appliances need to happen. Another "negative" we encountered were the old pipes. My daughters and I slept on the main level and when someone would shower upstairs above us, we could hear the squealing & hissing of the pipes. It was so loud that it woke us all up at 6 am. The loud horrible sound lasted the length of the shower-a good 15 or 20 min.

Another complaint of ours was the additional charge for some extra toddlers and babies. We were over the maximum # of people but it was because of very little ones. Bottom line, it felt wrong paying an additional $150 per baby. Babies don't use linens, add any wear & tear to the place, or even take up space. :)

The upstairs & main level look & feel nice (except for old appliances) but the basement feels very old & dated & is in desperate need of updating and repairs. In addition to the old toilet, we also had a cable and some trim in the bedroom that fell down in the night & woke up and startled my sister and her kids. Just another example of an inconvenience & needed repairs.

Another frustration was a night we all gathered to watch a movie only to discover that not only was the DVD player not hooked up, but didn't even have the right cords/cables. Thankfully the property manager bought us one at Walmart the following day and we were able to hook it up. For the size of cabin, the size of the TV was very disappointing & inadequate.

In sum, if the owners put some $ into the cabin it would be a much better experience & would be worth the top dollar they're already charging. A huge THANK YOU to KATHY for doing her best to help us navigate the problems we encountered!

Owner's Response: Thank you Maureen for your feedback. We have since addressed the issues you have mentioned. I am sorry for your inconvenience of the smaller issues and am glad that I could take care of them as they arose. I am glad your overall experience was good. We are fairly new at this and continue to improve with the help of you and other's suggestions. Thank you, Kathy-on site manager
