Quiet and secluded home close to Bar Harbor & Acadia

  • 5 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this property. We were a party of 7 adults, 1 infant and 1 small child. The property is situated on a large plot of land well off the main road; there are no other houses around. The rooms were very spacious and comfortably attired. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, utensils, pots and pans making cooking meals easy. The stove has a center grill that made making flapjacks a cinch. The dining area had a table for 6 and there is a kitchen island with 4 stools that gave enough room for everyone at meal time. Off the kitchen is a screened room that gave the house additional space and a pleasant place to enjoy the late afternoon and early evening. There were plenty of chairs and couches for all of our party. The ground level contains a large family room, TV and curved couch. The master bedroom on the top floor was quite large with an attached spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. Even with our large party, there was plenty of room and, if you wanted to, you could find a quiet place to read.

We were about a 5 minute drive from the Visitors' Center and entrance to Acadia National Park and about 9 minutes to Bar Harbor.

Great setting and close to Bar Harbor

  • 4 of 5

A group of 6 shared this lovely home. It was spacious with plenty of room. The layout was perfect with a great room and deck. We had a few glitches with some of the appliances - gas stove burner needed to be lit manually and the outdoor gas grill had a burner that didn't light, but we still managed just fine. The owners were prompt at coming to check on these issues. The dishwasher worked great once we figured out that the door didn't need to latch. Some of the previous renters weren't as good at making sure the dishes were clean before returning them to the cabinet... needed to wash most items before we used them. It was exceptionally warm during our stay and we were pleased that there were lots of portable fans to spread around as air conditioning is not available due to the usually balmy temps. It wasn't a big deal for us, but you should note that the whirlpool tub in the master bath doesn't work. Otherwise that bathrooms were all very clean and functional. The dining chairs and the great room furniture have seen much use and could be refreshed. The beds were very comfortable and the setting was quite peaceful. It was very easy to get the Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Very nice house with lots of room to be able to spread out and enjoy all that this house has.

You can feel right at home in this spacious house, you can watch TV downstairs while someone else can be reading a book in the upstairs living room. This house also has a nice screened in porch. My family really enjoyed ourselves and the owner was very nice and helpful.

Private Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here on a small extended family vacation (five of us) and really enjoyed the spacious layout. It's nestled in the woods, away from the busyness of downtown in high season, but Acadia park and downtown Bar Harbor are easily accessible. We rented bikes and spent a lot of time on the nearby carriage trails, ate dinner on the patio, watched movies on the huge couch downstairs, and took a walk to the nearby lake (although you have to walk a short distance on the main road for this). The owner was friendly and accommodating and kind enough to mail us a left-behind pair of jeans.

Outdoor wonderland!

  • 5 of 5

This three bedroom three bath house was exactly what two families of four needed to enjoy the beautiful Acadia National Park! The well equipped kitchen made our eatin dinners easy to prepare, the garage gave us a place to secure all eight of our bikes and the cozy porch gave us a place to unwind.

The location could not be much better a short bike ride and you were in the park and on the carriage roads. The best part about the location was Lakewood lake which is three driveways east of the house, this large, clean and clear lake was a cooling off spot for us every afternoon after our day of Hiking. The lake has a walkin beach area as well as twelve feet high cliffs that the kids (big and little) would jump from.

We felt very at home, linens, towels and some paper products were provided. If you are not used to the local well water you may want to bring drinking water as it has an Iron test, other than that the place was fabulous!!

Vacation Dream

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a place to call home that you want to return to look no further. My family has vacationed here several times and we are looking forward to our next trip. The property is quiet and private and has a large backyard for the kids to play. The bedrooms have ample space and the beds are very comfortable. The family room is cozy and is a perfect place to relax after a day on the beach. Everything is well maintained and clean which definitely helps reduce the stress of renting a place. Summer can't get here quick enough!
