We love Navarre - just not on July 4th!

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo that was roomy, neat and well furnished. It is the same unit we stayed in last year. Unfortunately the first 3 days the air conditioning was not working. Apparently it was a new unit. The maintenance team were very courteous and worked on it for 3 days with no result. They called an AC service repair that discovered the breaker to the ac unit had been sitting in water and was shorted out. After that the unit worked well in the main portion of the condo however the three bedrooms were warm. We did borrow one box fan from maintenance. The ceiling fans in the rooms were out of balance and were too noisy to leave running while trying to sleep. Unfortunate. We love the Navarre area and stayed for two weeks this year with kids and grandkids. We soon discovered that July 4th was not the time to be there. The traffic and population on the beach was more than we have ever seen there. Traffic was backed up to a stand still part of the time. We can deal with that but the disappointment was on the beach July 4th. We took our chairs and went to the beach to watch the City Fireworks Show. It was a great show (well as much of it as we got to see). There were a few individuals on the beach that had been drinking too much and had a full grocery cart of large explosive fireworks. These are the types of fireworks that typically a pyrotech must shoot off. They began to shoot them during the City show which was a major distraction and was dangerous. After a few people mentioned it to them (not me) they laughed and actually tilted the fireworks to the point that the embers were falling on the families that were on the beach. Very dangerous. Many children were crying and screaming and holding their ears and the parents were rushing them back to the condo to safety. This continued until well after midnight. These few individuals totally ruined July 4th at Navarre Towers for the guests, especially those with families. The rest of our visit was pleasant. Water was beautiful. We visited Ft. Pickens, Sea Turtle Conservatory, Scooters, Culvers, Eastside BBQ in Navarre. Drove to Pensacola for a day, Ft. Walton for a day and Destin for a day. Very nice. We will carefully plan our dates the next time we go to Navarre!

Great location and condo!

  • 4 of 5

The only issue was the broken screen door on the patio. In general the condo was more run down and sort of outdated but it was less expensive so it didn't bother us. The location was especially great and the property had a nice pool .

Owner's Response: We appreciate the review. The screen door has been repaired, and the unit has just received a freshening. The kitchen and laundry room have been painted, there is a new coffee table, dining table, artwork, and some new bed coverings.

Nice condo but not a great stay

  • 3 of 5

The condo itself was very nice and had new-ish furniture but parts of the condo (kitchen and bathrooms) are outdated but functional. The bed in the master is hard as a rock so we did not sleep very well on it. You cant please everyone but the bed was just too firm for us.

The bedrooms felt like there was no air ventilation at all (this is my main complaint.. everything else was minor)! It was extremely hot in the bedrooms but nice and cold in the living room area. We had the fan on but it was on full speed and didnt have a reachable chain to adjust the setting. I figured I would deal with it but it dried my throat out that first night which left me with a sore throat the rest of the trip. After 3 nights, i couldnt stand it anymore and called property management. They came on site and looked at the units and checked temperatures throughout the rooms. The bedrooms were 77-78 degrees. In 95 degree weather, it just wasnt pleasant. They confirmed there was definitely a problem (potentially the blower brcause the units tested fine) and notified the owners. That was our last night there so i was not expecting a follow up from the owners.

There is a sliding door that separates the living room from the bedrooms. The latch piece sticks out from the door and one person from our trip cut her arm on it. It is perfect height for a little one to hurt their face so be careful!

Several spoons were damaged and i cut my lip on one of them. Previous renters have probably not taken care of items and i am guessing some were caught in the garbage disposal at some point.

Lastly, the directions tell you to start a load of towels before you leave. We were not provided any detergent (checked all cabinets) and had to use our own. You also only get 1-2 dishwasher pods and no extra trash bags. We had to go buy trash bags for our stay.

After all that, i would still stay at the condo again. I just felt like we got dealt a bad card this trip and nothing went right.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear that this renter would stay in this unit again. Now that the high season is over we are in the process of doing inventory and maintenance inspections on all of our properties and will address items where needed. The master bed mattress was replaced last year. Instructions that are emailed out to renters a month prior to arrival clearly state that renter will need to provide dish and laundry detergent, and that small amounts of tissue and trash bags are provided.
