Why Casey Patterson chose Manistee
We have been in this area for 20 years and love the secluded setting, both the towns of Manistee and Ludington.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love the beach, with the long walks and beach glass hunting. Some days we will the only people on the beach for miles. We also love just sitting on the decks reading and relaxing. It is a great place to go and get away.

Breathtaking View of Lake Michigan!
I began a search for a cottage on Lake Michigan a year ago and found the listing for the Patterson Cottage. It immediately felt like the right place. I contacted Casey Patterson who was beyond helpful and kept in touch until a week became available. This vacation was by far the best we have ever had. The "cottage" was actually a beautiful home with every amenity, cable tv, wi-fi. Our group included my 84 year old mother who slept in the main floor bedroom and had no problem getting around with her walker. We had a group of 6 total with plenty of room to spare. The setting is directly on Lake Michigan with an observation deck overlooking the beach several steps below. Our days were spent kayaking, swimming and walking the beach. We also explored Manistee which has cute shops and restaurants. One day we drove up to Sleeping Bear Dunes which was an easy drive. We barbecued and ate on the patio most nights followed by the most beautiful sunsets. We read and watched the summer Olympics and felt more relaxed than I have in years. We will count the days until we return.
A New Family Tradition
In early June our family enjoyed the most memorable vacation we have had in years. Our search for a quiet setting on Lake Michigan led us to the Patterson Cottage, located just south of Mainistee, Michigan. The cottage was perfect for our family of 8, offering 3 large bedrooms and a very comfortable roomy sleeping loft, 3.5 baths and plenty of room inside and out for everyone. Part of our search for a vacation home included accommodating someone with limited mobility. The Patterson Cottage offered wide hallways, hardwood floors and just a few short steps to the beautiful lookout over the lake. We went kayaking, enjoyed lazy days in the sun, bonfires at night, rock picking on the shoreline and had the thrill of seeing a bald eagle. The cottage is very homey and comfortable. The landscaping and exterior appearance is beautiful. The kitchen has up to date appliances, plenty of dish settings and cooking utensils. The interior decor is well thought. We found the satellite TV and high speed internet easy to use and liked the capability to stay connected with home. At the end our week it was unanimous that this would be a new family tradition to spend a week together at The Patterson Cottage.
