On property

Cross Village is a natural destination point for travelers in Emmet County, as it stands at the northern end of M-119, a state designated Scenic Heritage Route, that extends north from Harbor Springs following the Lake Michigan shoreline. This road is renowned for its natural scenery, particularly the bordering hardwood forests. En route to Cross Village, the traveler passes meadows, occasional panoramic views over Lake Michigan, historic cottages, tree stands that bridge the road in canopy fashion, through Good Hart, and antique shops. The road winds and twists to encourage slow speed and enhance the enjoyment of the scenic tour. While Cross Village is a the terminus of M-119, it is not the end of the road, as Shore Drive continues northeast out of the Township into Bliss Township.

Beautiful house in a great surrounding

Thoroughly enjoyed the place with all its amenities. Nice kitchen, and all vessels provided. Very easy to visit Petoskey, Mackinaw island and numerous other places. The beach was right there and very private and secluded. A very relaxing week with family inside and outside(campfire, grilling etc). Beautiful sunsets on Lake Michigan! We will return !!!.... The Chalet was beautiful. So relaxing and comfortable. It had everything we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

The property is spectacular. The three seasons room was a great place for eating and just being together. There is plenty to do in the area, but the cottage is wonderful if you just want a place to relax. The Legs Inn is very close and is a must for dinner. They have great food and a beautiful garden that looks out over the lake.

Great house, relaxing location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (me, husband, sons-21, 18 and 15, grandma and puppy) REALLY enjoyed the stay at this house. Michael had awesome instructions for everything! plus was very responsive to any email or text messages. The house was CLEAN and had plenty of amenities for when we cooked/grilled at the house. Nice to have the two bikes and two kayaks available. Plenty of games (Ticket to Ride was a big hit) and puzzles. A lot of movies were available.

Perfect hideaway surrounded by trees with the lake just across the street. The house is beautiful!

I was pleasantly surprised with the cabin, it is prettier and nicer than the pictures, and in such a picturesque spot up in the trees making you feel like you are in your own little world up amongst them!

Our large family of seven had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The kitchen though not huge was plenty big enough to cook large meals, we made cookies, baked bread and ate every supper but one in. Mind we had planned on eating out more but at the end of full days out hiking, biking, kayaking, and swimming we all just felt like staying in and enjoying our "home away from home"!

The huge screened in back porch was an added bonus, the day it rained we spent it out there playing games, reading, and eating meals, letting us feel like we were outdoors without getting wet!

We really felt like we were able to take advantage of all the little perks of the home, sitting around the wonderful fire pit at night, and even lighting a fire in the fireplace one cold night. The bedrooms were beautifully done especially the master which has a balcony to sit out on facing the lake which was perfect for morning cups of coffee planning that days adventure! We could have easily spent another week (or the whole summer!) with all the things there were to do! We rented kayaks and canoes from Ryde Marina in Alanson on Crooked Lake which was perfect for us novices being a little nervous of taking on Lake Michigan for our first time in a kayak! It actually gave us enough confidence to use the two kayaks provided at the cottage by the end of the week we were taking turns gliding along the shore!

Touring Gear in Harbor Springs was also very patient renting bikes to us and showing us some beautiful bike trails to take between Petoskey and Harbor Springs!

Some of our other favorites were Tom's Mom's Cookies (best cookie I ever had!), Kilwin's Ice Cream, and the Stained Cup for coffee and wifi all in Harbor Springs. The Petoskey state park has a beautiful beach and hiking trail, the Mackinac Lighthouse Museum was awesome and enlightening, but our absolute favorite hidden gem was the Dark Sky National Park right outside of Mackinac. We drove there one night around midnight and it was truly a magical moment laying out Near the shore, under the most beautiful sky you've ever seen! We all thought it was one of the most special times of the whole trip!

Lastly Mike mentions in his instructions a beach 1/2 mile hike or drive from cabin, don't miss it, it's spectacular!

Family vacation to the Tunnel of Trees Bluff Chalet was fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I went with our daughters, along with their husbands and our three grandchildren to Lake Michigan, where we stayed at the beautiful Tunnel of Trees Bluff Chalet. This quaint yet well-furnished cottage was perfect for our group. It was comfortable, offered many amenities and was in close proximity to not only gorgeous views of the lake, but also to Mackinac Island and other breath-taking sites. The local residents were very hospitable and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The 46-steps from the parking level to the Three Season Room entrance were a bit intimidating at first, but proved to be more than manageable. The front deck offered both peace of mind and a fantastic view of Lake Michigan.
