About Michael Epperly
I grew up in the Detroit area but spent a good portion of my childhood summers in Northern Michigan. From that experience I always had a dream of someday owning a cottage in Northern Michigan.
Michael Epperly purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Michael Epperly chose Bliss
I was introduced to the Tunnel of Trees approximately ten years ago and was instantly taken by its uniqueness and natural beauty. There are many facets to this property. It has a Chalet style home is surrounded by trees yet has great views overlooking the Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan. Behind the property is over an acre of unblemished woods with a creek running through it. Property also has private beach access.
What makes this Chalet unique
The property is conveniently located for a diverse set of day trips. Aside from touring or biking the Tunnel of Trees, it is a short drive to the Sturgeon Bay (with its dunes), a 30 minute trip to Mackinaw City, and 30 minutes or less to Harbor Springs and Petoskey.

Perfect Winter Escape
Just returned from our winter escape to this lovely little cottage in the north. The cottage was clean and exactly as advertised. I was a little worried that it would be cold, as most seem to use the home in the summer and the temperatures during our stay were between -15 and 15 degrees, but it was very warm and inviting. While my boys were out hitting the slopes during the day, my dog and I relaxed by the fireplace. This time of year is very quiet there, walking through the woods I experience a silence I have never experienced before, always having lived in populated areas. It was amazing. Watching the lake change with the weather was really cool too. Overall a very nice getaway, I would highly recommend this spot. Would love to see it in the warm weather too, would be a completely different experience.
Perfect Thanksgiving Weekend Getaway!
We greatly appreciate the thought and effort that the owner put forward to make this property the perfect retreat venue for our family's annual Thanksgiving celebration. The property is even better than described as the owner makes sure to provide every convenience necessary for a stress-free stay. We've utilized several locations for our retreat over the years and this one definitely tops the list. A wonderful, well-appointed property with a wonderful view of the Lake Michigan located in a town where waitresses and convenience store staff might call you "Hon" as they greet you. We reluctantly left at the end of our stay having reconnected as a family and re-energized ourselves both spiritually and emotionally (the view creates a truly magical environment).
Lovely location. Owner attentive to all the details. Quiet and comfortable home.
Spotlessly clean cottage
We had plenty of room, everything we needed was there. Its a good location and nice beach. Owner was very helpful. I would recommend it for anyone.

Beautiful house in a great surrounding
Thoroughly enjoyed the place with all its amenities. Nice kitchen, and all vessels provided. Very easy to visit Petoskey, Mackinaw island and numerous other places. The beach was right there and very private and secluded. A very relaxing week with family inside and outside(campfire, grilling etc). Beautiful sunsets on Lake Michigan! We will return !!!.... Cross Village is a natural destination point for travelers in Emmet County, as it stands at the northern end of M-119, a state designated Scenic Heritage Route, that extends north from Harbor Springs following the Lake Michigan shoreline. This road is renowned for its natural scenery, particularly the bordering hardwood forests. En route to Cross Village, the traveler passes meadows, occasional panoramic views over Lake Michigan, historic cottages, tree stands that bridge the road in canopy fashion, through Good Hart, and antique shops. The road winds and twists to encourage slow speed and enhance the enjoyment of the scenic tour. While Cross Village is a the terminus of M-119, it is not the end of the road, as Shore Drive continues northeast out of the Township into Bliss Township.
