About Christine Holmes

My husband and I live in NYS. He owns and operates a collision repair shop with our sons.

We bought our first home on Ski Mtn in 1993 after taking a ride up the mountain with his brother and wife who live about 1 1/2 hrs. from Gatlinburg. We sold that home and and bought a cabin in 1996. Then in 2003, I found out I had lung cancer so we sold the home. We thought we would never go back again.

I was lucky. I am now a 14 yr lung cancer survivor.

Christine Holmes purchased this chalet in 2011

Why Christine Holmes chose Gatlinburg

In 2011 we decided we would love to buy another home there. We realized how much we missed those mountains and the area.

When we went down, we stayed at Wynstone while we looked at other homes. We loved everything about Wynstone, the high ceilings, the bedrooms with the baths inside them and the fact that there was a yard. We could walk all around the house. We couldn't do that at either of the other homes we had owned there. Plus, the view and the location were both wonderful. Another plus for us was the nice driveway. Easy in and out. Plus plenty of room so we could invite our friends.

What makes this chalet unique

To us the benefits of this home are many. We love everything. The home itself and the location. Just a 10 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg and the entrance to the park and Ober Gatlinburg. The beautiful mountain views and the surprise visits from a bear now and then if we're lucky.

Both my husband and I enjoy going down every chance we get. Plus the home is large enough for us to invite friends and family.

It is just so peaceful there. A place where we can unwind and totally relax.

Great Stay at Wynstone

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean and very comfortable. It was in the perfect location - close enough to downtown, yet far enough to enjoy a quiet relaxing vacation. We would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing Getaway at Wynstone... Beautiful Mountain Views!

  • 5 of 5

Our three-generation family of 8 people really enjoyed the well-appointed Wynstone home. With lots of space for everyone, we all had a great time. The kitchen is well-appointed, all 4 bedrooms had comfortable beds and linens and nice en-suite bathrooms, and the kids enjoyed playing pool and games. The views of the Smoky Mountains and roaring fireplace were fabulous, so it was very relaxing! (The many outdoor decks would have been awesome to enjoy in spring, summer and fall! We were there in winter.) The owner, Chris, was very gracious and helpful... she touched base to before our stay, once we arrived, and after we left, to make sure everything was to our liking... so appreciated. We must also put in a great word for Whitney, the person who keeps the home so immaculate... it was SO clean... even the windows sparkled inside and out so the views were perfect! Thanks for a great, relaxing stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review. The cleaner was overwhelmed. She asked that I extend her thanks because you made her day. We thank you too for acknowledging her. She tries so hard to make everything perfect for our guests. We could never find a better company than hers and we've dealt with cleaners since we bought our first vacation home back in 1993. We also thank you all for still being our guest after we told you we still had no cable. It's taking them quite awhile to rebuild and repair all the damage from the fire. You've been wonderful, understanding guests and we all hope you'll return again. Ralph, Chris & The Polishers

Nice place - Good location

  • 2 of 5

My family went to Gatlinburg for a week before Thanksgiving. We took my parents for both their 70th birthdays. We had 6 adults and 4 kids (ages 4 to 10). The vacation was enjoyable and we had a great time.

The reason I'm writing this review is in response to the poor guest rating that the owner gave me and my family. You must know, this is my first review I've ever written and it comes with disappointment as I, along with my entire family, took great pride in this chalet, as we always do wherever we stay. Apparently, the cleaners provide the owner with a rating sheet on each guest, and the owner uses that to provide feedback on the guest. I'm really not sure how the cleaners would suggest our cleanliness was a 1 rating and I really have no clue how we rated a 2 for house rules. If you knew my family (my mom and my wife especially), you would know that they are both crazy (and I mean crazy) rule followers and cleaners. In fact, when I did a final walk through (to make sure no one forgot anything), I was impressed and thought to myself..."who else leaves places like this?" The entire place was clean, dishes done and washing in dishwasher, towels in dryer, garbage neatly in both garbage cans and locked, alarm set, and I even had the courtesy to send a text to the owner letting her know all is done and that we all were leaving. Anyway, I decided to send this message for those of you who are considering staying here. The place is nice, but beware that you may receive a bad VRBO rating. When I asked her to explain it, she simply stated that "with so many guests, neither of us (cleaner or myself) could pinpoint a certain one at this time". Just disappointed as we followed every single one of the many rules and cleaned the place to a point where the cleaners really had not much work to do.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry for my simple vague response to the guest. At the time of the text I honestly couldn't focus on someone asking about a bad score. I had just recently found out our home had survived the devastating fire in the Smokies, Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. It was right on one of the fire lines. I answered every call, email & text from past guests offering concern and prayers. So many of those guests brought tears to my eyes but their concern is something I will forever treasure. My cleaner is my eyes & ears for the home. I live 1300 miles away so she writes the reasons she gave the number of stars she felt were deserved. She is very familiar with the contract rules, rules posted in the home and checkout rules. She always sends her info to me and after reading her reasons for her score, I enter the number of stars myself. She has sent another copy of the report to me and I may send it along to the guest A final walk through is good but that isn't what the cleaner does when she comes.

Wynstone Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My recent stay at Wynstone in Gatlinburg, TN was all that I expected. The house was very clean and functional. All the amenities described were there for the enjoyment of me and my family. The customer service was top-notch. I have recommended this property to other family members and friends. It was perfect!

Owner's Response: Hi Don & Judy I am so glad you all had a great Thanksgiving at the house. I thank God that you left on the 27th. Everyone was told to evacuate on the 29th. Many people on the mtn never received the alert. The high winds spread the fire quickly. It was a blessing that it didn't happen days sooner. There would have been so many guests at all the rental homes. Thank you so much for your text and for your concern. That's what kept me from thinking about the fire, all the concern from previous caring guests like you. God Bless. Chris & Ralph
