Hi everyone! My name is Michelle, my husband Don and I built this lovely cabin as our weekend retreat in 2009. We have been enjoying the home with friends and family, over the years. Since the birth of our fabulous daughter Magnolia, we have been opening our doors to 'new friends' traveling the area in hopes that you will love it as much as we do! I am from Newfoundland, Canada originally and my wonderful Texan husband has encouraged me to decorate our home with pictures and colours that remind me of my hometown! My husband and I are both R.N.s living and working in Austin. We are both avid live music fans and Don is an actively working musician and he encourages our guests to bring an instrument!
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009
Conveniently located between Austin and Bastrop guests can take advantage of Austin's eclectic food, hip music and art scene while historic Bastrop provides a step back in time with cute shops on Main St.
Just minutes away from great hiking at McKinney Roughs Park. Attending a wedding or event at Cedar Bend Events Center? It's a 5 minute drive door to door!
We stayed here because all rooms at the nearby Lost Pines Hyatt were booked. So thankful we did! The location was easy to find, the cabin was well decorated, and there were even beers to welcome us in the fridge (we don't drink but the gesture was great!)! The setting was peaceful. The owners were super flexible so that my husband didn't end up hanging out with nothing to do while waiting for me to finish at a conference- and for that I'm thankful! We'd definitely book here for a weekend getaway again!
We stayed here the week of our wedding(Cedar Bend Events) with our two labrador retrievers. The house is perfectly set up for entertaining many and nicely located for adventures into and/around Austin. The owners(Don & Shelly) were a pleasure to work with and the ultimate hosts. Arrived to a bottle of champagne, card, gift basket and various refrigerator items. The back porch was a hit for us as we had some plans get canceled and ended up hosting 15-20 people at the house one night and there was more than enough room to spread out for a few hours. We would highly recommend the Magnolia house to anyone looking to visit Austin but not stay in the middle of the hustle or anyone visiting the Bastrop area. We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
A great place to stay. The house is easy to access off of 71, but it is very peaceful. The house is clean and well maintained and the back porch is wonderful.
Magnolia's House is fabulous. There's tons of room to spread out, and lots of supplies to help our family get away from it all. The owners are super friendly and responsive, and even had a pack and play available and a welcome basket (with treats for our dogs as well!) When there was a minor issue with th A/C while we were out, they responded super quick to get it addressed in a more than satisfactory manner. Will definitely look to stay there again next time we're in the area!
It was a week before my company’s big conference at the Hyatt, there weren’t any rooms left and we were forced to find lodging in Bastrop. Not really wanting to drive back and forth to Bastrop to one of the less than stellar motels I hopped on HomeAway to see what I could find. I came across the Magnolia house and grabbed it up. I arrived on Sunday to find an awesome little bungalow with a few welcome treats and a 6 pack of Lone Star beer in the fridge (I was sold with the Lone Star present). The house was very clean, modern with a great back porch for hanging out and sipping on some beers. There were two of us staying there with room for more if needed. It was too bad we had to leave because we were just getting used to our nightcaps on the porch by the 3rd night. Great job guys!
