Further Details: Why the Owner Chose Maya Beach
Quiet, beautiful, tropical house overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Private setting with beautiful sunrises, white sand beach, and your own pool.
Our favourite time of day is in the early morning, having coffee on the deck and watching many different forms of sea life and birds frolicking in the Caribbean Sea, or have your afternoon cocktail sitting at the swim up bar and watching everything around you. Calming and beautiful.
A large Tangerine-colored House with spiral staircase on each side of the house facing the sea. 5 mins. south of Placencia Hotel & Resort. Located at Mile Marker 12.
About Us: The three owners (David, Yvonne & Terry) live on Vancouver Island in B.C., Canada. We were introduced to Belize by a friend of ours and purchased our property soon afterward. 1 1/2 years later, we have now completed our dream house right on the Caribbean Sea.
My wife and I spent the last 4 days of our honeymoon at this house and it was absolutely stunning.
The whole process went smoothly and and it was easy to find and Lus the property manager was waiting for us when we arrived.
The house is 3 levels split into a duplex and the other side was not occupied while we were there so we had the pool and beach completely to ourselves. A complete, private paradise. It may be worth noting that the property immediately next door is being built on and soon there will be close neighbors however there are some trees and vegetation so the pool and beach will retain some of their privacy.
Maya beach was only a few miles down the road and has a few great restaurants and the small town of Placencia is about a 25 minute drive away. Yvonne provided a list of some great restaurants in the area and some things to do.
Because of the more private location you pretty much have to rent a car and for the 2 weeks that we had planned on being there it cost over $1000. I had booked it in advance but didn't realize there is at least one other rental company on the peninsula so I don't know if it would be possible to get a better rate at all.
Placencia is small and Maya beach is smaller so if you are into city bright lights and night life somewhere else may be more your style. I personally loved the private tranquility and the small town feel. We drove into Placencia every day we were there and after only a couple days it feels like you start to get to know people. There are also a ton of snorkeling, scuba diving, and jungle expedition tours that are available and run every day so if you are a more adventurous type there is no shortage of things to do.
Unfortunately for us, my wife got a call that her grandpa got rushed to the hospital and we had to cut our trip short and book the next flight out of Belize. Because of this we were not able to take full advantage of all there was to do and I really wanted to hire the private boat that people have hired in the past and it came highly recommended.
Probably my favorite thing to do was just lying on the hammock outside reading, listening to the ocean surf and breeze through the palm trees, swatting the occasional fly and sipping on a cold bottled Coke.
Seabreeze Villa is a fantastic getaway with a lot of options for different types of vacations and I really hope that we can return soon!
Our family ritual is to go someplace warm over winter break. Our dear departed grandmother started this practice many years ago and we have diligently carried it forward. We have been to Hawaii, (a couple of times) California, and gone on a couple of cruises. (not the children's favorite) We have never ventured outside of the U.S. on our own but decided to give Belize a try. We are very glad we did.
To start with the house was great. As shown and as described on the web site, although; we think the owners could have done a bit more bragging about the sleeping arrangements as the beds were very comfortable, something we don't usually find in rental houses. Yvonne was very helpful with pre-trip information. She even sent us very detailed driving directions from Belize City to the house including points of interest along the route. (rest areas, gas stops, places to grab a bite to eat, etc.) Lus (the house care taker) deserves a pat on the back as our plane was delayed a few hours coming in but she was at the house with a big smile to greet us on our arrival. She was also available during the week if needed but not a snooper, a troubling experience we have had in the past.
The weather could not have been better. It rained a few times during the night but the days were sunny and warm. (85º to 90º) Just what us northerners needed. We didn't even find it necessary to use the A/C as the breeze off the ocean was more than enough to cool things down at night.
We did a few touristy things but it was just as much fun to hang out at the house, swim in the pool or ocean and cook up some steaks on the outdoor grille.
We would highly recommend Seabreezevilla if you are in search of an excellent vacation.
We were in Belize for 2 weeks in August we had the best time ever. Villa is just amazing fully equipped and beautiful. Swimming pool was just refreshing and having the palapa with the hammock was my highlight of the trip...just relaxing. My 2 girls 9 and 12 just loved hanging out in the pool and making sand castles on our private beach that was cleaned up every day. Listening to the waves at night from the bedroom was my god soooo relaxing :)
I really recommend taking Alrin for a tour guide we did Monkey River and Snorkeling/fishing both days were just perfect. We did some hiking, visited chocolate and banana plantation, zipline, cave tubing, ATM cave... Belize was just the perfect family vacation. August was a perfect month beautiful weather and less tourist!
Food in Belize is just WOW!!!
Thank you Yvonne and David for your recommendations and renting out your Villa this was the best family trip ever!
Our family of 4 traveled to Belize. Our children 14 and 19 thoroughly enjoyed there stay at the Seabreeze Villa. The pool is a must and the beach so close was very exciting. We woke with tropical birds singing. Limes to pick and banana trees in the back yard. You definitely need at least 8 days to enjoy Placencia and what the property had to offer. More if you want to see the sights. Singing Springs restaurant was excellent in Maya Beach. The food was to die for. Tutti Frutti Gelato in the village is excellent. I loved the fresh produce market in Placencia. They have the best fresh produce in abundance along with fresh eggs and meat to purchase from the freezer. Yvonne was very helpful in preparation for our trip, giving directions and things to see and do while there. Arlin, the boat guide, drove right up to the beach and took us to the barrier reef to fish and snorkel on our own private island!! What a wild ride and well worth the experience, even for someone who has not been in the ocean 20 miles out before. We went during the raining season, only rained one day for 30 minutes. Pretty amazing to see the storm roll in. Very warm weather. The pool will cool you off! We hated to leave and would love do it all over again.
We rented the entire home for 6 adults and had plenty of room. Dave and Yvonne were awesome helping us with preparations for a 50th party before we arrived and once we got there. The pool was an awesome additional benefit. We were welcomed by extremely friendly people and even went to dinner with them the first night we were there. You will need to rent a car to get to town as it is about a 20 minute car ride, but well worth it. Groceries, alcohol and water are available in Maya Beach just a short 5-10 minute drive. Villa is right on the beach so you can either play in the ocean or the pool. Highly recommend this villa to anyone wanting to stay in the Placencia area.
We have to thank Yvonne and Dave for renting their little piece of paradise to us. We were there for a total of 10 nights and every night we had a great sleep. The air-conditioning units cool down the house in minutes. We have two daughters 11 and 14. One slept in the downstairs bedroom and the other wanted to sleep on the couch even though there was a pull out cot available. Apparently the couch is really comfy to a 14 year old. A typical day was...Wake up and put on the coffee. Sit on the balcony and watch and listen to the ocean. We saw Dolphins one morning and Manatees another. What a tough life. If we did not go into Placencia we hung out in the pool and in the hammocks reading. We also walked the beach and the road to explore. You can walk out into the ocean a long ways as the bottom is sand. This is both good and bad. If you want to snorkel you have to go a fair distance out. There are no currents so it is safe. The sand bottom is so nice that you can just go out and sit in the warm water and enjoy the view and the sun. The washer and dryer are newer and work well. The fridge makes ample ice for your drinks. There is even a lime tree out front if you like to put lime in your beer. The house is very private and you feel totally safe. Watching the stars at night is amazing as there is almost no light pollution. The drive to Placencia is interesting. There are a bunch of speed humps and you really have to watch for them. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the village. We sometimes drove back and forth twice in a day. Every time you drove the road you see something different. Yvonne and Dave will provide you so much good information. They are spot on with everything they tell you. If they say use their guide Alrin...please do. He is excellent. Yvonne and Dave have great people that work for them. They are also full of a wealth of information and love to pass it on. I highly recommend Friends for breakfast. It is at the end of the road by the pier to your left. For lunch or supper have fun trying everything. We really enjoyed Wendy's. Wendy is very nice. Do not miss Tutti Frutti. Best Gelato I have ever had. I recommend Avadon if you plan on diving. Great Padi center and the people that work there are excellent. I wish we didn't have to leave.
