Encantada Guest House - Since 2011
It's Simply Magical!
Greetings from the owners, Marty & Nita Kemsley.
We bought this Beautiful 2 acre property in 2006, with an eye toward early retirement in 2008 and the dream of running a small eco-friendly, culturally pleasing B&B. However due to the on going economic difficulties in the US, the grand scheme of our plan is now developing at a much slower pace than we had hoped for.
The Casita, as an independent vacation-rental, marks the completion of Phase One of our vision and Phase Two, will include a Spanish Colonial style B&B, with two additional upscale Cabinas. It will also feature, a Half Moon Infinity Swimming Pool with Volcano View, Hot Tub, More Landscaping and Further improvements. Your bookings are much appreciated and will move us ever closer to building the dream, one brick at a time! Pura Vida...There is nothing like it. Thank You!
Nita Kemsley purchased this cottage in 2006
There is something both magical and captivating about the area of El Castillo, Adding a sunset or an active lava flow from the Arenal volcano makes it mesmerizing.
Moving to Costa Rica is a calling and we were hooked on our very first trip.
We very much enjoy being unplugged and at one with nature and the local community. The Views and Tranquility here are awesome and we are grateful to God everyday for this wonderful opportunity. Pura Vida, is more than a tag line, it is a way of life here.
Hacienda Encantada, Costa Rica. It is Simply Magical!
Wake up to the magical sound of howling monkeys and the view of..
A truly unique rental, very cozy and well appointed, in a very secluded location (4WD essential!), right in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, with wonderful views of the lake and the arenal volcano! We were a family of 5 (3 adult children), and spent 4 nights here during our Christmas vacation to Costa Rica. Service by property manager was superb.
We stayed for 5 nights with two young kids under 4. Before arrival, Nita was very helpful and accommodating to any questions we had. We arrived to a very clean house. She provided coffee, spices and oils to cook with so you don't have to buy any of that at the store. Kitchen had pretty much everything.
The views were amazing, you can see the lake and the volcano from the hammock. It was nice listening to the howler monkeys every morning at 5 a.m. It's a beautiful property! The colors of the house, tile around the property and all the flowers too-- was so Costa Rican... we just can't say enough good things.
If you already booked this, some recommendations would be to visit Arenal National Park to see the Ceiba Tree (huge 400 year old tree).. you won't see much animal-wise because there are a lot of visitors there. Mistico Hanging Bridges, that was a fun thing to do and we saw a sloth! La Fortuna was really fun, we recommend horseback riding to the falls. Also, Los Lagos was a great place to spend the day... hot springs, slides, great food, toucans, frogs, and other wildlife.
Thanks for a great week!
The house was clean and comfortable. It was perfect for our group of 4 but could fit more. The patio was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. The Kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. We loved the back room to hang out and play the games that were provided. The road was definitely ruff for our little car but we made it with a few scratches on the bottom. A little more clearance on the vehicle would of made us feel safe but we were fairly warned about the road.
We really enjoyed our stay in this house. Very clean, neat, tons of attention to little details. Owners made us feel very welcome and helped us plan our few days while we stayed there. We were able to hear/see the howler monkeys, many hummingbirds, some parrots and other little birds. There are a lot of pretty flowers surrounding the house and just sitting in the hammock was fun and relaxing to see all that surrounded you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Enchanted Guest Casa. This is a very comfortable, clean and beautiful home that is located in a lush tropical setting. The landscaping is well maintained and has plenty of colorful vegetation. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessities needed to prepare your own meals. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. There are plenty of outdoor areas to sit and relax while checking out the views or watching the array of birds and butterflies.
One of the best parts of our visit was hanging out in the local village of El Castillo. This is a quaint little town that gives you a good feel for the ordinary Tican way of life. The locals were very friendly and helpful. This area is off the beaten path but worth it if you want a true non-touristy experience, although there are opportunities for the typical tourist activities in nearby La Fortuna.
We also enjoyed having Riley and Quinn, the 2 cool outdoor cats, to help us with our daily cat fix!!
Marty and Nita were very friendly and we enjoyed meeting them. They were easy to communicate with and provided helpful info for our stay.
We would recommend this place to anyone looking for quiet relaxing Costa Rican experience.
I finally got the chance to go on a vacation of a life time ,after many nights of looking on the internet we came across this amazing Hacienda Guest House the price was reasonable so we booked the home for 7 days. After a long flight and the great directions Nita gave us we finally arrived I was not only amazed with the view of the Lake Arenal the Volcano and the beautiful rain forest from our Hacienda The guest house was also amazing clean and beautiful inside and out,It was also fully furnished bedding kitchen and bathroom. The out side had really relaxing areas with rocking chairs,Hammock and even a BBQ if you wanted. The next day we ventured out their was so much to see and do natural hot springs nice restaurants and shopping even the snake zoo was educational. In Returning back to our Hacienda from our daily adventures, we meet the owners of our guest house Marty and Nita they we so friendly ,nice and accommodating and offered to make reservations for any tours we might like to do in which we did two of them that were fantastic.I would recommend any one to stay at the Encantada Guest House .Thank you Marty and Nita for making our trip wonderful and all your assistance.
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Encantada Guest House. Nita did a wonderful job of providing directions and "things to do Information" prior to our arrival. The property manager, Juan, is super nice & helped us set up a private hike with a local naturalist. We also loved visiting the Butterfly Conservatory. My favorite spot was the hammock each afternoon!
