Villa Ohana - Moorea

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,153 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Bedrooms 3, Bathrooms 2, Sleeps 8

This charming wooden beachfront villa is designed to anticipate the needs of seasoned travellers seeking absolute peace and privacy. The Ohana Villa has its own private white sand beach and shallow sandy waters that children and families will enjoy all day long.

Ohana means family, and this name is really appropiate to this holiday rental.

Small boats can easily moor right in front of the villa to the facility, and from time to time you will admire super yachts mooring in the bay just for the pleasure of your eyes. It is a generous space with a large garden and lagoon front patio that pays tribute to tropical living. The warm breeze will keep you relaxed and comfortable at all times. Living and dining area with sliding glass patio doors open onto an extensive wooden deck and offering amazing Cook’s bay views.

The advantage of this exclusive beach villa relies on the closeness to different key areas on the island. Should you wish to get a pizza or French bread and pastries no need to take your car, it is all right across the street in front of the villa. The main village is only at 2 min drive and offers all convenient grocery stores, banks, restaurants, medical centre, retail shops and much more. This private home has been entirely renovated, painted and furnished for the comfort of the guests in december 2013.

Guestbook comments from the manager

« My husband and I spent a week with my family at this beautiful home. I was excited for the home after seeing the pictures and reading the other reviews, and my expectations were exceeded! Location wise it is just perfect. Cook's Bay is absolutely gorgeous and near enough to amenities you can take a quick walk or drive if you need anything. The home itself is very well kept and updated. The kitchen had most everything we needed and we ended up cooking and bbqing quite a lot. Rooms were fine size and AC worked great (we were very glad to have them at night!). The backyard is really spectacular. We had our own private white sand beach, gorgeous views of the hills across the bay, great snorkeling, kayaks (the house had three) and much more. Like most of Moorea you should definitely wear water shoes in the water but even then it wasn't as rocky as some places we found on the island. If the mosquitoes like you like they do me, definitely bring some bug spray or possibly citronella candles. The windows don't have screens in the main part of the house, so unless you want to close up everything each evening you will encounter a few bugs. It just comes with the territory and Tahiti so be forewarned. Great food all over the island, but right across the street is also a delicious bakery and pizza place. »

Great location, house getting tired

  • 4 of 5

The location of the home is great -- right on the bay, with basic shopping and restaurants all within a short drive. We loved the "backyard" which has a small, sand beach, a large shade tree, well tended lawn, a couple of palms, and a wooden deck by the seawall that had great views up the valley and out to sea. The house has a covered deck on the back which was a great place to hang out when the sun got hot. The sand beach was perfect for relaxing or getting in/out of the water. The house had a couple kayaks that we used all the time (the green one is better!). From the deck we could see sharks (harmless black-tips), rays, and a turtle. It was actually a pretty decent place to snorkel. When we weren't out exploring the island we would hangout in the backyard -- it is a great place to relax.

Inside the house, the kitchen looks like it hasn't been remodeled in decades. It was functional, but pretty basic and old-fashioned. When we first got there the house had a strong musty smell. Fortunately, after airing it out for a day the smell was only noticeable in the second (northeast) bedroom. The main room does not have air conditioning and the eaves are open to the outside -- I mean OPEN, like no mosquito netting or anything. I suppose that adds ventilation, but the bugs would get tiresome after awhile. The windows do not have screens. I would not wish the attic sleeping arrangement on anyone -- it is hot and stuffy. This house realistically only sleeps six. The indoor furniture was mostly good, except for the mattresses. One mattress was pretty comfy, the other two were miserable, cheap wiry blocks masquerading as mattresses. I could tolerate it, but we resorted to taking the pad off the couch and putting it on the mattress so that my wife could get a decent night's sleep. It would have been nice to have some lounges for outside -- resin chairs don't exactly spell luxury or relaxation to me.

The house has WiFi, but it is pretty slow (think 3G speed), and basically unusable in the evening. I'm guessing that everybody on the island is going online in the evenings. Not a big deal to us, but it is kind of annoying when you can't even successfully download a 1mb photo. There is a television, but it only has a hand-full of French language channels. If you are hoping to wind-down in the evening expect to provide your own entertainment.

If you expect to not be indoors that much then this house may be all that you need.
