The terrace level floors are also hardwood (tile in the kitchen). All new appliances. There is a large walk-in shower. The terrace level has a very big activity room with a regulation pool table, two TVs (a projection TV and LCD flat screen TV with built-in DVD player) and exercise equipment. There is a stone paver patio overlooking the lake outside the double french doors in the terrace kitchen. A stone paver walkway leads from the patio to the stone paver walkway in the front.

A pergola is located at the foot of the driveway down by the river which can be used for entertaining, weddings or picnics.

Enjoy walking along the river or to historic Campbellton, jogging or biking the miles of unpaved road along the river, hiking trails along the bluff overlooking the river or just sit outside and enjoy the wildlife - deer, hawks, owls. Fish in the private lake. Bring your canoe, kayak or raft and enjoy the river. Plenty of room to practice that golf swing. Indoor swimming is about two minutes away at a public aquatic center. All of this in the shadow of Atlanta. You are literally just minutes away from the Atlanta's sites, restaurants, entertainment and sports activities (Falcons, Braves, Tech, etc.) or the airport. About Cary Evans

We love water settings and acreage. We live on 9 acres about 10 minutes away from the river estate. We wanted a nice place to retire to without leaving the area since we have lived here for 35 years. When the river estate came on the market we jumped on it. We have completely renovated the entire house. We are comfortable where we live and are not ready to retire just yet to the river estate so we are offering for vacation rental. We have had such a warm reception to our home we purchased another estate on six acres with private swimming pool and tennis court just one mile away. It is available on VRBO. See VRBO listing 408928 - Estate 166.

Cary Evans purchased this estate in 2007

Why Cary Evans chose Georgia

Atlanta is our home and most of our relatives live here. We wanted a vacation type home that is large enough for family to visit in a setting where grandkids and friends could enjoy. The Chattahoochee River runs through Atlanta and bluffs along the river are high enough make settings be similar to North Georgia mountains.

What makes this estate unique

A completely private retreat from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta and yet literally minutes away from all of it. You will find it hard to believe that such a rural setting is still in Atlanta. Miles of unpaved roads, hiking trails, acres and acres of open space, wildlife, and a historical location.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family all met here to find your Chattahoochee River Estate to be SPECTACULAR and BREATHTAKING and the view overwhelming. The house is the best in Southern living with much room for everyone. It was surely a home away from home with beds ready to fall right into and how comfortable.

This was a weekend that our family will be sure to remember. Our grandson from Lawrenceville, our son and his family from Hampton, GA joined with us and their sister, two brothers and the other two grand children from NC to put our family all together again this year. Our oldest son’s best friend also came to visit us here during our stay. The children had very much fun inside as well as outside.

Thanks for letting us stay in your home away from home and all the extras. It was a joy for us all

I have used VRBO for approximately 5 years and have over 30 bookings and I will tell you by this was the best experience ever! First of all, the owner is absolutely wonderful. I know that many owners turn their properties over to management companies to manage but after this experience, I'm not sure if I'll ever deal with a management company again. Mr. Evans has superior customer service. He was always available to answer questions no matter the time of day or night. The information he sent before we checked in really impressed me. His directions were thorough and he gave more than enough information for us to plan a great trip.

I used this home to host a family gathering and it was absolutely perfect! I am borderline germ phobic and I was very comfortable in this house. It was definitely my home away from home. Everyone that came to the house absolutely loved it.

Great home for entertaining

yard space for outdoor activities

plenty of comfortable seating

away from traffic and city life

bit remote

driveway is hard to get in and out of

need new pots/pans

Would I rent this house again? Absolutely! Did I mention the owner was great? If you're looking for a comfortable place at a great rate, look no further. This is it!

Quiet comfort

  • 5 of 5

We were in Atlanta for a wedding and spent a long weekend at the Chattahoochee River estate. There were two families of ten adults and there was plenty of room to spare. The welcoming gift was much appreciated and quite useful. The owner was very informative and responsive to any communication. The house was well stocked with everything we could have needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We love this property!

Large, inviting house off the beaten path. We had a lovely time celebrating my grandmothers 85 birthday. The kids had their own retreat in the lower level of this house. The adults had the main level. The bedrooms were charming. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and utensils. The owners leave some additional supplies when you check in, cookies, coffee, creamer, granola bars, etc. The grocery store and gas station areright down the road. The downside for our group was the wifi signal strength and the driveway incline. The property owners were very easy to contact. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

A great place for a weekend getaway-especially with a group!

  • 4 of 5

Chattahooche River Estate was the perfect house for our large group of people to stay for a long weekend. We were a church youth group with 9 teenagers and 4 adults. The house was set up just perfect for us. There were 2 large bedrooms downstairs, just off the game room where 7 of the kids could sleep. The kids had their own kitchen downstairs too where they could snack and play games around the kitchen table. The upstairs had 3 bedrooms. The adults stayed in 2 of those bedrooms and 2 teen girls stayed in the other bedroom. There was a large room above the garage (just down the hall from the kitchen) where we could all watch tv together on a large-screen television and there were plenty of movies at the house for us to choose from as well.

The customer service was excellent. Mr. Evans had a large welcoming package on the kitchen table when we arrived which included a case of water, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap and dishwasher detergent. We even had some cereal bars and coffee K-cups included. The owners could easily be reached by phone or e-mail. One night Mr. Evans texted me to remind me to take the trash cans out for garbage pick up in the morning & another night he called the house after a storm to see if we lost power at the house. Two days after we got home, I got an e-mail from the owner that one of the kids left some sandals at the house and he would send them to us!

The house was clean and the beds were super comfortable. The only negative thing about the house was the bathroom at the end of the hall had a spicket in the shower that was hard to turn. One of the kids couldn't even turn it on.

Overall, the place was a great place for us to stay for the weekend. It was close to Six Flags and restaurants we ate at and we could spend the evenings playing pool, cards and watching movies together.
