Silverthorne Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 BR/2 BA Timber Ridge Condo. Sleeps 6.

Warm weather has finally arrived in Colorado, translating to swelling rivers and blooming flowers. Great reasons to visit the high country during the summer: local art and music festivals; incredible hiking, cycling, mountain biking; white water rafting/kayaking; water skiing/sailing/wake-boarding/fishing on Dillon Reservoir; Blue-Ribbon fly fishing on the Blue River and other nearby streams; horseback riding; adventures unlimited; the cool, clean mountain air.

Our condo is the PERFECT PLACE to stay while you experience the best of COLORADO. We are located at the top of Wildernest in Silverthorne, CO right at the base of Buffalo Mountain - with easy access (right from the front door) to a huge trail system in the White River National Forest & Eagles Nest Wilderness Area. 40 minutes or less to SEVEN major ski areas (Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Loveland, Vail, Beaver Creek, A Basin). Steamboat Springs is only 90 minute away (the drive offers stunning scenery!) For cross country skiing there are great Nordic Centers in Frisco and Breckenridge, only 20-40 minutes away. Shopping options include a variety of boutique shops in Frisco, Breckenridge and Vail plus numerous factory outlet stores right in Silverthorne only minutes from the condo. And there are more restaurants and eateries than I can mention here.

2 BR, 2 BA. 900 sq ft. This end unit has new picture windows bringing in lots of light and a peaceful, airy feeling with views of National Forest, Dillon Reservoir and mountain views from every window. Beautiful, original art in every room.

Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to create wonderful meals at home while enjoying a roaring fire and a glass of wine. We’ve had professional chefs as our guests who have created many memorable feasts here. Of course there are also many restaurants in the immediate area. Choose from beer pubs like Dam Straight Lager, Avalanche Amber and Ptarmigan Pilsner, chains like Noodles, Chipotle and Smashburger. We really like the sushi restaurant next to the King Soopers in Dillon. And of course there are lots more restaurants for your dining pleasure in Frisco, Breckenridge and Vail.

The Timber Ridge Clubhouse is the best in Silverthorne. It’s an easy few minutes walk from the condo. Two hot tubs, heated swimming pool, sauna, pool table, racquetball court, foose-ball, ping pong table, outdoor tennis court and a large, comfy lounge area. About Buff Elting

Buff is a full-time artist. Her nature-inspired paintings are in galleries in Santa Fe and Denver. You can see examples of her work hanging throughout our condo. Bob is one of the best land surveyors in the West as well as an avid and highly skilled back country pilot. Together we enjoy skate-skiing, trail running, hiking, rafting, and cycling. We spend as much time as we can at the condo when it isn't rented out.

Buff Elting purchased this condo in 2002

Why Buff Elting chose Summit County Colorado

We bought this condo because we love Summit County and wanted to spend more time skiing, hiking & relaxing and less time battling weekend traffic on I-70. We love being at the very top of the Wildernest area and chose this particular unit because of its location on the end of the first building, right next to the forest and wilderness - full of light, very quiet and no parking lot views!

Before beetle kill and fire-mitigation actions a few years ago, the primordial dark forest came right up to our windows. Stepping from our door into that forest was downright magical. The forest is still close and very beautiful, it just takes a couple minutes longer to get to it on the far side of the sloping meadow. The best advantage to fewer trees is that our view of the mountains and lake have actually improved! And we still love it that our vistas never include any cars, noise or headlights.

What makes this condo unique

This condo is as close as you can get to the edge of Silverthorne National Forest and Eagles Nest Wilderness Area. Plus, tucked back against the quiet of the forest, we are protected from the headlights and noise of the parking lot while still having gorgeous views of the mountains. Our end unit allowed us the opportunity to install picture windows on both sides of the fireplace, welcoming in lots of natural light and vistas. A peaceful, airy feeling makes this a place that really welcomes you home.

Chickadees, White-Breasted Nuthatch, Stellar Jays, Pine Grosbeaks and Downy Woodpeckers and Abert's squirrel are all regular visitors to the tall pines right outside the tall LR/DR windows. If you're patient, observant and lucky, you might even be graced by a nocturnal visit from our beautiful resident foxes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Buff & family,

What a delightful time we had here. Your condo was perfect for the 4 of us. It was bright & cheerful & had everything we needed. Just one note - the boy's tub is draining slowly - thought you'd want to know. Thanks for the Christmas chocolate & wonderful hospitality.

We'll be back.

A long weekend getaway before our daughter started graduate school-great location and very relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

VRBO write-up very accurate. We loved everything about this property! Location was great - especially if you want someplace centrally located but not in the middle of tourist congestion. Thr condo was very comfortable roomy - we had 3 adults - and well supplied. The location and windows in the condo make you feel close to nature and views are wonderful. The higher elevation and great windows give you different views of the mountains as well as Lake Dillon/the reservoir. We hiked from the condo, went to Idaho Springs to Whitewater raft and also used the hot tub and pool in the clubhouse - great after a long hike! Thanks for a great property and hope to be back again.

Family weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time while we were in Silverthorne. The scenery and weather were beautiful! Went hiking and shopping at the Outlet Stores during the day and enjoyed the hot tub and ping pong at the Clubhouse when we came back that evening. The condo was furnished with games & movies which we used and they also provided a basket with snacks in the kitchen which the kids really enjoyed...it was a very homey atmosphere.

Nice Get away!

  • 5 of 5

Overall the apartment was exactly what it said it would be, even had a gift basket with snacks and treats on the counter. My wife, my 10 month old, and I had a great time. The apartment is near a tree line and up on a mountain that gives it a wilderness feel with the views, but is close enough to town to help you get what you need. The maintenance for the building did a good job of keeping the sidewalks and parking lots clear, so there was no inconvenience when there was a heavy snow. Close enough to different ski areas so you can go to more than one in a trip. The fireplace in the house also was very nice and warm. Great views as well. Plan on going back if I get the opportunity while our family is still small enough.

Nice condo at a reasonable price

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable two bedroom condo with 2 queen sleeper sofas. Our family of four stayed in condo four nights while we went skiing at Copper Mountain. It was a great place to stay, convenient to ski resorts, shopping, and restaurants. The owner went out of her way to help us, answer questions, and make our stay enjoyable. The only negative was we couldn't locate a foam support board for the queen sofa sleeper, and we thought there was a charcoal grill at the condo, but there wasn't.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. I'd forgotten that my husband needed the support board for one of his projects. Thanks for reminding me to remove that from my description. About the grill. I'm pretty sure my description does not say I have one. We used to but realized pretty quickly that it was more of a fire hazard (on the deck with all the firewood) than it was worth. My apologies for any misunderstanding or inconvenience this may have caused you though. Best wishes, Buff

Nice but not great

  • 3 of 5

Condo had nice views but was smaller than it appeared in the pictures, but still fine. The biggest issue was much of our 3 day stay there was little or no hot water. This seemed to be a combo of an Xcel problem (they changed the gas meter on the building while we were there), and a poor hot water system. When there was hot water, it took several minutes of running the water on hot before hot water arrived.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. Although pictures may seem misleading, they are not ever meant to be. The stated square foot measurement of any property (just under 900 square feet in the case of my condo) should be considered when trying to imagine the size any place you are planning to rent. I was very sorry about the hot water situation but I never had a single phone call about it until the very end of your stay. As it turned out, if you had called me directly (as I stress doing in every advance email I send) I would have been able to call the building maintenance supervisor directly and he would have been able to switch the boiler back on to give you hot water within 10 minutes of your call. It's so unfortunate when maintenance issues occur but everyone was doing the best they could to fix the problem as quickly as possible so I appreciate your being so understanding. In the future, when in doubt, I would encourage any renter to call the owner directly and immediately whenever possible. I am available to take calls or texts at all times. Thank you, again, for choosing our condo for your trip. Buff

Summit County is fantastic place to enjoy some R&R no matter what the season. For year-round fun, we are within 30 minutes of seven major Colorado ski areas (Breckinridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Loveland, Vail, Beaver Creek, A Basin). Steamboat is a 90 minute drive. Frisco Nordic Center is 20 min away: a personal favorite, it is one of the premiere Nordic centers in the Rocky Mountain Region with 40 k of expertly groomed ski trails, snowshoe trails, rentals & lessons. Right next door to Frisco Nordic is the Frisco Adventure Park with groomed sledding for hours of family fun in the winter and a skate-board park in the summer.

Other activities include mountain biking, road cycling, hiking, golf, sail boating, kayaking, fishing, water skiing, river rafting, horse-back riding and much more. The drive to Steamboat is worth it just for the stunning scenery year-round. During the summer they host an authentic, outdoor rodeo. The Alpine water slides are great fun while you wait for the rodeo to begin.

There is renowned fly-fishing on the Blue River in the tail waters of Dillon Reservoir Dam, just a few minutes away right at the bottom of the hill. The Raven, an 18-hole golf course, is less than 5 miles away, along Highway 9 following the Blue River.

Lots of great shopping: the Silverthorne/Dillon Factory Outlet Stores are just minutes away or Frisco, Breckinridge and Vail are only 20-30 minutes away.

One of the things we love most is being able to walk right out the door into the Silverthorne National Forest and Eagles Nest Wilderness Area. The path starts literally right at our doorstep. Take an easy, pleasant stroll through the woods or for more ambitious, strenuous hikes you can summit Buffalo Mountain, hike to the Seven Falls or connect into other trail networks. A Trail Guide book is available in the condo to help you figure out where you want to go.
