Tucked away in the woods but conveniently located a short 15 minute drive from Bethel village, 25 minutes from Sunday River, and 12 minutes from Mount Abram, this well-appointed chalet-style home is the perfect place to relax after a long day on the slopes or in the hills. During the summer of 2015, we added a new Hot Springs Sovereign spa on a new secluded deck. Enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy while taking in spectacular mountain sunset views, looking up to starry nights, or sipping on your morning coffee.
In the winter, cozy up next to the fire on the open main floor while the kids watch a movie downstairs.
In the summer, enjoy the beautiful mountain views while sitting on the wrap-around deck, the star-gazing, and the long evenings playing cards in the screened in porch.
This beautiful getaway comfortably sleeps 8 with plenty of room to spare.
Come enjoy our home as much as we do!
My wife and I stayed at this cabin in the woods while visiting to watch the Maine leaves change beautiful colors. We've stayed at many VRBO properties and this one was a fabulous find! The owners were extremely responsive to our e-mails and texts. They provided information on the area and advice on things to do which was helpful to me since I'd never been to Maine before.
The home is wonderfully decorated on all 3 levels. Properly "rustic" but extremely clean and nicely furnished. There is accent lighting that automatically turned on / off so that I could navigate at night or early in the morning on the way to the coffee pot. I was able to pair my phone with the sound system easily and the WiFi worked without any issues. The owners are nice enough to include free movie rentals and we took in a late night movie after a day exploring the area. And, we streamed pictures from my phone to TV on the lower level.
The kitchen is stocked with cooking essentials and more. We hadn't shopped before arriving and there were some things in the freezer that were perfect after the drive into the mountains as well as some breakfast items for the next morning.
The property itself is nestled into the surrounding woods. We utilized the fire pit and available wood on one of the cool evenings while enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine. Quiet and serene which was perfect after hiking the AT which is 25 minutes down the road.
The hot tub was always heated, very clean, secluded, and afforded a night viewing of the stars. We could even see the Milky Way!
There is nearby hiking right behind the property on some overgrown logging roads as well as some more difficult day hikes in the nearby State Park.
Wished we lived closer so that we could take advantage of this property more frequently!
The owners have created the "perfect" Maine mountain getaway that feels like home plus vacation amenities!
Stayed Feb vacation 2016 enjoyed the snowshoe trails with our lab which we greatly appreciated being able to bring him along! House was well equipped and cozy. Hot tub was a great amenity after skiing and hiking. Private location very serene not too far to drive to skiing. Owners very responsive when a bad ice storm required additional sand on the driveway. Teenagers loved the hot tub and downstairs tv area just wish there was another small tv either in upstairs living room or master bedroom as difficult weather had us all home bound a few times during our stay. Would highly recommend this rental!
6 of us went up to the Jackalope Lodge over Thanksgiving weekend 2015. It's a beautiful cabin stocked with everything you could want. The hot tub is really nice, the TV and sound system is really nice. The kitchen is great. Everything was described accurately, everything was nice and clean. Dave and Nathan were great to deal with.
10/10 would recommend.
Excellent house with everything you need and the hosts are quick to help if you need it. Perfect spot in the woods and awesome views. The house was one of the cleanest, most stocked rentals I've ever had. I can't wait to stay here again. Ryan
Simply put, we loved our stay at the Jakalope! There was plenty of room for my wife, 2 daughters (aged 9 & 11) and 2 small dogs to hang out. We found the house exactly as described, very clean with modern furnishings, a well stocked kitchen and invitingly comfy beds. We spent our time skiing and riding the spring snow at Sunday River (15 mins away), eating and shopping in Bethel but mainly chilling out at the house. The owner was great, providing quick responses to our questions before and during our stay. The whole trip was hassle free; really all we had to do was open a bottle wine, kick back and enjoy the views...
