Wonderful Thanksgiving in Mount Pleasant with family!

The Attaway vacation home in Mount Pleasant was a warm and cozy retreat full of every amenity - the washer and dryer were oh so helpful and there was seating and service to accommodate all 16 family members for Thanksgiving dinner! The cousins had so much fun running around in the fenced-in back yard with our nightly bonfires. So much room and truly charming - there is nothing we would have changed.

Dave with iTrip called to check in on us and make sure we had everything we needed.

We will be back again and again.

comfortable stay

Dave was extremely helpful leading up to the trip and even accommodated an early check in. The house was in a perfect location and the keypad entry made it easy to come and go without worrying about keys. The kitchen was equipped enough to get by but I was thankful to have brought extra mixing bowls, tupperware, etc. for the bigger meals I made. We did have the max number of people sleeping in the house but unfortunately there were not proper linens for the futon. It was fortunate that we had one gal drive up late and she was able to bring extra sheets and such. My friend did mention she was a little grossed out by the cleanliness of the shower curtain. Overall, we were pleased. This home has definitely seen some traffic but was perfect for us with a group our size.

I am sorry about the shower liner, we would have replaced that immediately. Thank you for letting us know. It was the cloth variety, and had been bleached just before your stay, but didn't come clean. It was replaced the day we read this message. We booked this house for a family vacation and wedding. Once we got to the house, the AC was 80 degrees in the house. We tried to turn it down and it wouldn't go down below 76. The next morning we realized that the home owner had the thermostat set to go up to 76 and 80 degrees multiple times throughout the day and at night while your sleeping, so if you changed it, it would go back up. We finally got that figured out and it cooled down. The next morning we got a phone call from Dave the property manager and he patronized me as if I were uneducated. My father is an HVAC specialist for commercial buildings. Dave said we are not allowed to turn the AC down below 72 degrees in the house because it could freeze up the air unit. They can watch the thermostat and know when you change the temperature in the house. He then sent me an email and did not return my call. No where in our rental agreement did it say we couldn't choose our AC temp! Because I would have never paid over $2,000 to be told I had to sleep in the heat. The house was cute but definitely older. There were holes in the sheets. Pillow feathers were coming out of the pillows. I'm not sure the last time the house was swept. Beds were awful and uncomfortable. The living room was cute and nice for our family to gather at after dinner. The back yard was nice and we loved the deck. However after the way the property manager spoke to me, and the fact we couldn't be cool in the horrible heat, I will never go through this company again. Which is a shame since we vacation twice a year in SC.

Owner's Response: Wow. First, I admit there was an initial problem with the thermostat, but that was resolved. No phone call went unanswered except for one voice mail that preceeded a text by the guest where she apologized for having forgotten the "oven was on for an hour making lasagna and that the thermostat was working fine now". Our Check-In Procedures clearly state- {Be Green! Please conserve electricity by turning off lights as you exit a room. Air conditioning is provided for your comfort, and we want you to be comfortable. Please note that if you desire a cooler temperature, adjust the thermostat down only to your target temperature. Remember, the thermostat operates as an on-off switch, not like the the accelerator on your auto. Turning it down below your target temperature does not cool the house faster. :) Never set the thermostat below 72 to cool. Leaving doors open for any length of time when it is hot and humid outside can freeze up the unit. Then, the only remedy is to turn off the unit until it thaws out. Not fun :( Any HVAC specialist familiar with the Charleston area would agree with this. The home owner can monitor the thermostat over wifi and found it set at 68, so he asked me to contact the guests. The house was swept just before their arrival, I employ the best cleaners in the area, we get many reviews praising the cleanliness. No one is perfect, and this cleaner would have come right back to address any issues, including worn linens. Wonderful Wedding Weekend!

We rented this home to attend our son's wedding in Charleston. We are very picky when we choose a vacation rental as we are an extended family that always travel with our rescue dogs. Dave was wonderful to work with, answering all of my questions prior to our booking the property. Hurricane Matthew moved through Charleston one week before our arrival and I was concerned as to what condition the property would be in when we arrived. Dave assured me that he and his staff would do their very best to see that any problems would quickly be taken care of. When we got to the home, it was in perfect condition, beautiful, clean and well stocked. The furnishings are lovely and comfortable. The large privacy fenced back yard was perfect for our dogs! Our son and daughter in law, who live in Mt. Pleasant, SC thought the home was wonderful as well! We would love to rent this home again during our next visit to Charleston!!!

Good location but FILTHY HOUSE and VERY Dishonest property management

The vacation home is in a great location but unfortunately when we got there we found the house to be filthy, batteries were dead in remotes, the grill was filthy/not cleaned to the point it would start a grease fire), the carpets are stained and not cleaned, we had visible garbage sitting out when we checked in, siding on the house had fallen off, large stain on the couch, towel rack in the bathroom was broken, the fan in the bedroom was not secure, the cupboards were sticky, there were dead bugs in the cabinets, dirty dishes in the cabinets, and a ton of dust. WORSE, when got home we discovered that Dave the property manager was charging us an additional cleaning fee for a number of things he claimed that are not true. He claimed that we left the house in poor condition and that there was dog feces/urine in a closet which is NOT true. We attempted to talk about this with Dave and he ended up hanging up on my wife. I would highly recommend staying away from this rental and Dave Rockey property management. VERY BAD!

Owner's Response: As a property manager, I have garnered 339 reviews, and the average of all of them is 4.6 out of 5.0. Many reviews have specifically praised the cleanliness of the units this cleaner handles. We employ a service to roll out the garbage for every pick-up date, as well as the recycling. It is possible the previous tenant waited until the end of their trip to take garbage out to the bin, thus creating an overflow situation. These Seattle guests arrived on a Tuesday, with trash pick-up day being Wednesday morning. These guests called with only two issues shortly after their arrival- (1) remote(s) needing new batteries, which I offered to bring out, but they said they took care of it, and (2) propane tank empty, and I told them of a full spare spare in the garage. These guests then proceeded to leave the property with both tanks empty, without advising me. Checkout procedures warn of a $50 fine for failure to notify property manager of an empty propane tank, which I did not charge these guests. Any cleanliness problem would have been addressed immediately by having the cleaning company return to the property. Any noticeable dust would have been the result of their 4-week visit, the house was clean when they arrived. My cleaner found this property in a very filthy condition after their 4-week stay. Funny how they now complain about dirty dishes in the cabinets, when that was one of my many many reasons to them for the extra cleaning charge! To suggest my cleaner lied about the dog feces and the urine smell is ludicrous. The guest (husband) used unfit language with me both on the phone as well as in emails. The wife refused to listen to what I had to say, instead talking over me to the point where I realized there is no sense in trying to converse with someone who insists upon listening with her mouth. The towel rack was ripped off the wall by these guests, and I had it repaired immediately after their departure. My cleaner would not think of having such a problem for the next guests.

If Only

Pro...The home is centrally located to Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Daniel Island. The beds were comfortable.

Con....There are no towel racks in the main bathroom (only the holes in the wall where one used to be). The air vents are extremely dirty. One ceiling vent is missing. The house has numerous step-downs that are easily tripped on. Curtains are not adequate.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry of any shortcomings. The towel rack will be repaired ASAP and the air vents addressed. The step-downs were pointed out in the pictures, but we have added more references in the listing. Most guests have recognized the window sheers as adequate, but a slight few have been less than totally comfortable with the style.
