Featured in April 2013 Fine Homebuilding Magazine ('Stress Free in South Texas'), this home won the magazine's national award for Best Retirement Home. You can see pictures of the apartment in the magazine article. It is a sustainable, energy-efficient home designed by the owner-architect, but its cozy apartment has all the comforts of home and a vintage feel!
Charming, 2nd floor apartment in the heart of Boerne on Frederick Creek. Own kitchen and bath (dishes and linens provided), dining nook, washer dryer, full-sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, 32-inch flat screen tv on swivel wall mount, internet access. The bed is a double (not queen) with new mattress and box spring. All the furnishings are from the 1930s, and the bed has a wooden headboard and footboard, and as of June 4, 2015, has a newly built frame that eliminates all creakiness of the former antique frame. The tub has a shower. The sofa has comfortable pillows, but does not make into a bed. We provide coffee, coffee maker and snacks. The balcony has a small table and two chairs for morning coffee.
10 minute walk to Main Street filled with antique shops and restaurants. 40 minute drive from San Antonio airport. Private entrance, parking. Picnic on the shady creek!
Come for these special events in Boerne:
Every month, Second Saturday and Sunday, crafts, art and wine: crafts market with food and music, just a 5-minute walk from here, and art galleries host wine tour by trolley on Saturday night. Shops on Main St. are open till 8pm on Saturday night.
Every month, second Tuesday -- Live at the Library. Beautiful music at Boerne's fabulous new library.
We are a quick walk from the Kendall Inn, trailhead for the Heart of Boerne Trail, which connects to the Hill Country Mile, a landscaped walkway connecting downtown along the Cibolo Creek. Walk among trees and native plants from the North end of Main Street to River Road. Other hike and bike paths follow the Old Number Nine train route through town.
Cibolo Farmer's Market offers fresh, locally-grown produce and flowers. Saturday mornings at the Herff Farm.
We (Nancy and Jon) live in a sustainable, energy-efficient home in the heart of Boerne, TX. Jon is the architect. The apartment for rent is self-contained, on the second floor, and is across the courtyard from our home, with its own gated entrance. We like the fact that we can walk to the Bear Moon Bakery (unbelievable breakfasts and lunch), the Boerne Wine Bar, Bistro 259, the Cypress Grill or the Creek Restaurant in 10 minutes, but we also have chickens next door and deer wandering along the creek behind the house. It's truly country in the city!
For outings, there's Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg 1 hour away. Hilltop Cafe outside Fredericksburg should not be missed. Only 12 miles from here is Comfort, with it's well-preserved downtown and the beautiful Bending Branch winery. Listen to live acoustic sounds near the outdoor fireplace overlooking the hills. Guadalupe River State Park is 20 minutes away. Boerne itself boasts a well-known nature center, hike and bike trails, Second Saturday arts, crafts, and gallery hopping, and numerous other points of interest, which we will be glad to let you know about if you're interested. See the GUIDEBOOK for recommended restaurants.
We are in an eclectic residential neighborhood 3 walkable blocks from Main Street. Boerne is a sweet little town, but for extended visits, the large grocery store is a convenient 5 minute drive, and San Antonio is only 30 minutes away. The Hill Country offers beautiful drives and vistas.

Visiting family so this was a home away from their home. Quiet, relaxing, friendly atmosphere, clean. All the comforts I needed when I needed "me" time from their hectic schedule. Centrally located so I was able to attend all my four grandsons sporting and school events of which there were many. Would definitely return and stay again when I am in Boerne escaping the NY winter
It was Great. The place was very quiet, and it had a peace about it that was unique. Charlie the dog was a nice touch as he greeted us almost every morning and evening.
So completely impressed with this little space. It was comfortable with all the conveniences of home. Quiet and peaceful, yet close to San Antonio and the cute little shops in downtown Boerne. My husband and I will definitely come and stay again!
We could not sleep on the bed due to CREAKING ( perhaps due to a bad frame and/or box spring). The dining table is too wobbly and the chairs need new pads.
In all, the entire furniture needs to be replaced.
Over all it was great with all the amenities of home, but bed can use a better mattress. We had a great time in Boerne. We plan on staying there again and would recommend to friends.
