Located on the top floor of a classic 1898 classic Brooklyn brownstone, this apartment occupies the entire span of the 4th floor. The entrance is separate from the entrance that the family uses, going up the front steps of the house. Complete with skylights and tree top views, it is a peaceful haven with wood floors and exquisite artwork. The back windows look down on tree-filled backyards with a multitude of birds and squirrels who make their lives there. The front windows gaze down and across the the tops of other 19th century rooftops on the block. The block is inhabited by many different kinds of people, from families to young people enjoying the cultural renaissance of Brooklyn life to old timers who can talk about the changes that have taken place in the neighborhood over the past 40 years. Subways are nearby and in 30 minutes one can be in Manhattan or in 15 minutes to downtown Brooklyn.

About Elizabeth Macon Agee
I am a teacher, artist, mother of two mistress of this beautiful old and historic house in Brooklyn. Surrounded by so much history and the most diverse population of people living together) I love people and have been immensely enjoying my role as hostess over the past two years. I have had some of most interesting and wonderful people stay here who I will hopefully see again either in their countries or hometowns, or right here if they ever come back.
Elizabeth Macon Agee purchased this Townhome in 2000
Why Elizabeth Macon Agee chose Bedford-Stuyvesant
For those who treasure this part of Brooklyn - as many do - its historic roots, cultural diversity and home to such a wide array of artists, musicians, professionals, workers and other unclassifiables - this is the perfect spot. In the heart of Bed-Stuy, but only a stone's throw from Bushwick, Williamsburg, Ft. Greene, we are in the perfect spot. Manhattan by car is only 15 minutes while by train it may take 30 - 45 to over to the 'city' However, Brookyln itself has so much to offer these days in the way of cultural institutions, restaurants, music, a plethora of happy hours, and many other spots of interest.

Charming Brownstone hideaway
This is a charming property! Having zero experience with NYC or any of its five boroughs, I had no idea what to expect. Everything was as described, except for a few minor things we discussed with the property owner, Elizabeth. The apartment was comfortable and super clean. Since we were on a budget, we cooked our own meals at the apartment and it was equipped with everything we needed to do so. We had a great time and never really felt insecure about having our car parked on the street. All in all, enjoyable!
This was a lovely family and for folks coming to Brooklyn for the first time - and all of its mixture of people living together - they adapted well and seemed to enjoy their time spent here immensely.
They are of course welcome back anytime. I recommend this family to any others who may host them in the future.
Great interesting space
We had a great time at Elizabeth's home in Brooklyn. She showed us around the top floor space, gave us the keys and was full of information about the area. It was a short walk to a subway into Manhattan. The space was filled with art, had nice beds, and the AC worked great. Would definitely book again.
Clean, spacious apartment
Family friendly, light-filled, artfully decorated apartment in quiet neighborhood. Apartment bedrooms are private and can be locked. However, there is not a door to the third floor apartment; kitchen, bathroom (with a door that locks inside), and dining area are accessible to other guests. Perhaps this is in the description about the apartment, I don't remember and only add it as we felt badly that we couldn't close a door to dampen the noise made by our young children. The apartment is close to the G and J trains to Manhattan or buses that go into downtown Brooklyn. Our host Elizabeth was welcoming and helpful. Free wi-fi.
No other guests have ever gone up to tge attic though and really tgere is total privacy since the other guests are in a clised apartment down on another floor of the house
Its a lovely place and very confortable! Me and my friends had a good experience
Decent price for decent stay
I would definitely stay here again. It's about the same price as a hostel with WAY more space. You could sleep 3-4 comfortably. We were about an hour subway ride out of Manhattan and a couple block walk from the bus. The neighborhood seemed ok. If you're trying to see new york on a budget, this place will do just fine.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay and it worked for you!!
Come back again.
