We LOVE our Maggie Valley Chalet, and you will too! This is not just any vacation rental--we have lived in, and lovingly cared for this unique home for the last two years, and only now have decided to share it with guests to Maggie Valley (Carroll is a gardener and wanted more land for her garden!). There is nothing quite like sitting out in the hot tub under a star filled mountain sky and letting your cares literally float away. Or take a stroll down by the golf course or on one of the many hiking paths just outside our door. Or, just look out your kitchen window to see a beautiful lighted waterfall and fire pit! Our chalet is unique for this area, with a great location, year round access, and exceptional amenities. It boasts hardwood floors throughout, tongue and groove wooden ceilings (all vaulted upstairs), a fabulous chef's kitchen with large island, s/s appliances, gas oven, and granite countertops, private master suite with huge bath including his and hers sinks, jacuzzi tub and custom shower, large upstairs family room, and two huge decks looking out at the mountains. There is a downstairs bedroom off the kitchen as well, and a large bath with custom tiled shower and floors. There is a one car garage and covered parking for an additional vehicle. The Maggie Valley Club golf course is a 5 minute walk away, and skiing is 5 miles down the road! PLEASE CALL FOR LAST MINUTE SPECIALS (ONE WEEK OR LESS IN ADVANCE)
Carroll and Jim have worked in healthcare as RNs for many years. Carroll is a master gardner and takes care of the house decor as well as the flowers in the yard. Jim has a nutritional consulting business and is presently writing his first novel. We are originally from Louisiana and Texas respectively and met on the west coast in Washington state. We enjoy traveling, photography, and outdoor activities, which is what attracted us to Western North Carolina. We love the 4 seasons here and enjoy the coolness of the summers! Our chalet takes up a good bit of our time, as we personally manage and care for the property. All our guests are special to us and we hope to make each person's time here very special and as enjoyable as it possibly can be.
Jim and Carroll Grant purchased this chalet in 2015
After living in Maggie Valley for 3 years, we selected this property for its natural beauty and year round access. We previously owned a cabin with a fabulous view, but it was difficult and stressful to get to. Not so with the Chalet de Montagne! All local attractions are within an hour of the home and most within just a few minutes. No matter what the season, you will love the natural beauty of our luxurious chalet!
Just steps from a beautiful mountain golf course, yet nestled in the hills above the course, our chalet offers superior accommodations in a warm inviting atmosphere. Lots of glass, skylights, and a great southern view make the property a most enjoyable place to relax after a day in the mountains! The hot tub is on the deck looking out to the mountains, and our chalet is private, quiet, and EASY TO GET TO, which is a good thing in the winter here! We have two gas log fireplaces (one in each living area, up and down), plus central heat and air. Hiking is literally right out the front door, as is a great round of mountain golf! OR, just relax on the hot tub and gaze up at the starry night sky and the mountain silhouette in the distance. If that's not enough, there is a beautiful lighted water feature and fire pit
right outside the kitchen window!
A great week in this lovely property. Everything you could pssibly need is available. The house is comfortable and in a very quiet and picturesque location. Enjoyed using the hot tub and relaxing on the patio until late at night. A super place to stay - we would love to return one day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We loved our stay at Jim and Carrol's chalet! The home was spacious, clean, and had everything we could have ever needed. The view was amazing! Location was private and quite, but quick to get to the main highway for trips to Waynesville, Asheville, and the mountains! We spent a lot of time hiking off the Blue Ridge Parkway, but enjoyed the hot tub, ping pong table and darts, campfires, and cooking at the chalet. A wonderful, relaxing vacation. Highly recommended and we hope to return!
I spent HOURS looking for a house in the Asheville area that had a combination of a convenient and safe location, spaciousness, privacy, beautiful view, great amenities, right price and updated everything! I found it with this home in Maggie Valley. It sits on a hillside with two decks that overlook the Blue Ridge Mountains. That fulfilled the "beautiful view" requirement. We were inside the Country Club Estate area, which meant the surrounding neighborhood was full of nice homes and great neighbors. The beautiful new Ingles grocery store was about a 10 minute drive from us and I mean it is nice - even has a Starbucks! Even though we were staying in what felt like was our own little wilderness, we had an abundance of restaurants, gift shops and that great grocery store within 5-15 minute drive. The ease of getting into the Smoky mountains was incredible! Another great place to visit close to the house is Lake Junaluska. Check it out. It's a terrific family spot with so much to do and offers a little romanticism, too. I have to add here that Jim told us about many places close by including places to eat, hike and raft. He was an invaluable source of information for us! Even though this home only has two bedrooms, it worked out PERFECT for us because of the comfortable day/trundle bed on the upper floor den. You could say it has its own private 1/2 bath because the laundry room off the den has a nice sink and toilet. It was perfect for our 10.5 year old grandson who wanted to be close to us. The master bedroom, a nice distance of 50 feet or so from the daybed has a very comfy king size bed and a BEAUTIFUL spacious ensuite bathroom! It has two walk-in closets, but we had access to one of them. I chose to put not only my hanging clothes but also my shorts, undies, etc on the racks in the closet so I wouldn't have to go into the bedroom to grab clothes. My husband did use the nice roomy dresser in the bedroom, though, as well as hung some of his shirts in the closet. We woke up every morning to a view of the mountains, which I miss very much! The beautiful waterfall feature one one side of the house can be heard from the upstairs windows and exudes that peaceful sound we are all wanting on a vacation. My older grandson stayed in the queen bed downstairs and used bathroom right off the kitchen. He loved it! Youngest grandson took his showers in that bathroom - worked out perfectly! My relentless search was time well spent! Thanks, Jim and Carrol!!
Our hosts thought of *everything*. They called while we were on the road to give us detailed directions so we wouldn't get lost. They had a kitchen that was fully stocked with pantry supplies and paper goods, so we didn't have to buy things like spices, olive oil, or paper towels. We wanted for nothing in the kitchen - they had all the cooking implements we needed. The beds were deliciously comfortable. The closets were enormous with plenty of hangers. The bathrooms well-stocked with plush towels and plenty of soap/shampoo/body wash. The whirlpool bathtub in the upstairs bathroom was perfect after a long day of hiking. The living rooms (upstairs and down) had cozy couches. The porches were delightful to sit on, with cushioned chairs, so you could take in the view.
But the best part by far was the view. The trees are situated so that you have a constant view of the clouds rolling over the mountains. From sunrise to sunset you can watch the shadows play across the mountains, or the fog rising up between the peaks. It was stunning! And the big picture windows meant you could take the view in when the weather was miserable (from inside) or delightful (from the giant porches).
We ate breakfast outside every morning to greet the day. On clear evenings we built a fire in the fire pit and made s'mores and watched the stars. We spent most of the week (when it wasn't raining) with the windows open so we could hear the sound of the water in the waterfall. We went hiking every day we could - there are wonderful trails nearby, and our hosts had lots of information so we could plan our trips.
This was one of the best vacation homes we've ever stayed in. We hope to be back!
We stayed at Chalet Montagne for 3 nights to celebrate my dad's 83rd birthday. The view from the Chalet is the absolute best in Maggie Valley! The house was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures and Jim was a wonderful host/landlord. He bent over backwards to ensure everything was perfect for us. He recommended some walking trails and restaurants and we took his advice and on almost all of them and were not disappointed! The house has everything you could want - hot tub, two gas burning fireplaces, a firepit outside with plenty of wood, and a beautiful waterfall. We definitely plan to make this an annual trip!
My husband and I stayed at the Chalet March 4th thru the 7th. We were very impressed with how pretty the house is. Very clean. Jim and Carroll were absolutely amazing to work with.
I called Jim a few times regarding the area since we are thinking about purchasing a vacation home up there. He could not have been more helpful. I truly appreciated their hospitality and their thoughtfulness.
We will be returning, no doubt.
Our best to both Jim and Carroll!!
The Alpine Chalet is located right in the middle of Maggie Valley just off the golf course at Maggie Valley Resort with easy year round access.. It is the PEFECT LOCATION for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway (10 min) the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (25min) and all of our other incredible western North Carolina. It is 10 minutes to skiing at Cataloochee, steps to golf at Maggie Valley Club (beautiful mountain course), 10 minutes to boating, fishing and swimming at Lake Junaluska, 15 minutes to the cute mountain town of Waynesville, and 30 minutes to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, the chalet is nestled in the hills above the golf course, and has a nice view of the mountains in the distance. Hiking is literally right out the front door, as there are several hundred acres of forested mountains surrounding the chalet.PLEASE NOTE: This is a new property with the same number as our old cabin that has been sold. The reviews up until June of 2015 are from the old cabin. The reason for this is that we paid for a year listing that we weren't allowed to transfer to the new listing. These small glitches will be corrected in October when the old listing expires.Thanks.
