Sonoma House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 bedrooms + Tatami room (&bedding), 2 baths, close to Plaza and Wineries

Welcome to Sprawling Oak, a relaxing wine country retreat!

The house is ideal for 2 to 3 couples, or 2 couples with kids, or a family with parents/in-laws and kids, or 6 individuals. It is very kid-friendly and spacious. Up to 6 adults with small children can stay comfortably.

The house is in the perfect location:

Walking distance to the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn, groceries, fruit stands, and numerous eateries. Golf course right nearby. 5 minutes to historic Sonoma Plaza. 7 minutes to world-class award winning wineries. 5 minutes to famous restaurants; hiking and mountain biking; and weekly farmers market. 20 minutes to Napa. 45 minutes from San Francisco. Right off highway 12 but it’s a quiet neighborhood.

The house is 1614 square feet with a soaring ceiling, plenty of gathering spaces, unique, warm, and inviting. It has a very functional layout: the bedrooms on one side and the open space on the other side.

The house has:

A big family room/dining room with an open kitchen for gatherings and entertaining with family and friends.

Two spacious traditional bedrooms (king and queen size beds).

One big tatami room perfect for kids to play and for everyone to sleep in (high-tech memory foam pads and bedding provided).

A super comfortable pullout sofa bed in the family room.

Two full bathrooms.

A laundry room with front-loading washer/dryer. Laundry detergent is provided.

Perfect for couples and individuals. Two traditional bedrooms with king and queen size beds, plus the tatami room with comfortable pads and bedding, and a pullout sofa bed in the family room, can easily fit 2 or 3 couples, or up to 6 individuals. The big open space of the family room and the kitchen is on the other side of the house, same as the backyard with the outdoor table and sofa. That makes the house very functional for resting and gathering. The tatami room can also be a “work from home” station with a big desk and WiFi relay.

Kid friendly and family oriented! The house has everything you need for kids of all ages: high chairs, baby bath, toys, books, DVDs, electric piano, and baby utensils. Pack-n-play and stroller are also available upon request. All tall furniture is fixed to wall for safety. The backyard is very safe for kids to play in. The swing in the side yard that can be converted into a hammock, is every kid’s favorite. We have also provided a document with all info on the most kid friendly wineries, farmers’ markets, nearby Train Town, Safari West, and all the best family places.

Perfect for wedding guests! We've hosted many wedding guests before; they’ve all enjoyed our amenities (ironing board, etc.), capabilities (spaces to sleep for individuals and parking spaces), and flexibility. The house is also very close to most wedding venues.

The Full (and fully equipped) kitchen is a gourmet cook’s delight. It has new stainless steel gas stove and refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, oven, toaster, coffee maker, blender, cookware, utensils, wine-related tools, dishes and glassware. A Weber BBQ Grill is in the backyard. Everything you need to feel at home. The beautiful dining table can be extended to sit more than 8 people.

Both bathrooms are full baths with all you need provided: hair dryer, toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner), high-end towels (three sizes), and toilet papers. Laundry room is next to kitchen, with best-rated washer and dryer, and laundry detergent.

The private backyard is safe for kids to play in, and is a lovely spot for a quiet outdoor meal or an afternoon of lounging. The backyard has a comfortable sofa set, and a dining table. The side yard has a swing that can be converted into a hammock – it’s a perfect spot to read in the golden sunset in the afternoon. There are lemon trees in the front yard and flowers visited by the occasional humming bird in the back yard.

Heat/Air Conditioning, free hi-speed Wi-Fi in every corner (with relay) and the backyard, gas fireplace, DVD player, ironing board, cable with a big screen TV, and a folder filled with vetted local info are all provided. All towels & linens provided.

Ample parking: with the front yard and the part of the side yard you can park 2 cars off street.

Things to do in Valley of the Moon: wine tasting, going for weddings, sight seeing, hiking, shopping in the beautiful Sonoma Plaza, enjoying farmers' markets, taking private cooking lessons, hot air ballooning, biking, golfing, horseback riding, antiquing, eating everywhere from world class restaurants to local taquerias, enjoying spas, or relaxing in the sunny weather. Nearby there are the Infineon Raceway, Six Flags Marin World, Safari West Wildlife Preserve, Skate Park, Tennis Courts, Historic Sites: Bear Flag Monument, Charles Schultz Museum, the last of California’s 21 Missions, Sonoma Barracks and Historic Parks. There are also lots of great resources for kids including parks, playgrounds, museums, Safari, kid friendly wineries, and even a miniature railroad, to name a few. Sonoma is a very relaxed, down to earth place, it's full of a small town charm. You will always feel welcome in Sonoma.

The house is a no smoking, no pet property, no worry about allergies.

We look forward to your arrival and we are confident you will have a wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing stay!

About Lan Marvit

We are a family with small children who fell in love with the spirit of wine country. We found this house (with the protection one huge and magical tree gives the house) perfectly captures the relaxation, openness and energy that make Sonoma so unique. We are excited to share this with guests who will appreciate a truly special place.

Lan Marvit purchased this house in 2013

Why Lan Marvit chose Sonoma County

Unbeatable location: We are near all the attractions and amenities Sonoma has to offer - world class wineries, luxury spas, golf courses, shopping, historic downtown, hiking trails in natural settings and through vineyards, world-class restaurants and local eateries, farmers markets and local fruit stand, museums and art galleries.

Spacious (1614 sqft): the master bedroom, the tatami room, and the space of the family room and adjacent open kitchen are all big, make it perfect for families and friends. The cathedral ceiling makes the space spacious in three dimensions.

Beautiful: the front, side, and backyard have all sort of flowers and plants; the unique and tranquil tatami room provides a romantic atmosphere; the whole glass wall lets the morning sunlight in, makes the dinning room and the kitchen enchanted.

What makes this house unique

Close to everything, and yet quiet and relaxed.

Minutes away from our favorite wineries - Imagery, Little Family Winery, Chateau St Jean, BR Cohn, Ty Caton Vineyards, Muscardini Cellars, and Cline Cellar.

Tatami room is beautiful and is full of smell of the tatami grass.

Local fruit stand down the road - they sell everything, all local stuff.

Local guide is provided.

Ample parking.

Kid friendly: The house has many kid's stuff and it's very safe for kids - all tall furniture is fixed to wall.

The house is fully stocked (especially the kitchen): we've put everything in place for guests to be completely at home.

Good for wedding guests: Close to wedding venues. The house has amenities and space for preparations for the weddings. Many off street parking spaces available.

Fantastic location. We were able to walk to various restaurants for dinner and the local brew pub was a 5 minute walk away. House was perfect for 2 couples and 2 kids. Kids loved the toys. Kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely recommend and return if we are in the area.

Very well maintained vacation house to select if you are looking for a quiet neighborhood, well stocked kitchen and room for two couples or a family. Enjoyed the fireplace, the patio area and the relaxed, but organized house. Quick drive to Sonoma and to the wineries. Will stay again!

A great value, very well equipped

  • 5 of 5

We are first time users of, but our son and daughter-in-law used your service before to book a honeymoon rental in South Africa. They highly recommended this website.

We found your service easy to use and were amazed at the amount of choices we had. The house we rented was clean and better than we imagined, especially since we had a 2 1/2 year old with us and there were plenty of toys, puzzles and videos to keep him busy. Also appreciated was the prompt communication with the owner, Lan. We heartily recommend this rental to anyone wishing to stay close to town.

Good Location and Very Responsive Owners

  • 4 of 5

One of the best things about renting this house is the responsiveness of the owner. Every question I emailed her prior to trip was answered within an hour, most times. Once we got there, we had a couple additional questions, and they were answered within minutes when I texted Lan. This made me very comfortable as I never felt like we would be stranded if something happened.

It is located a couple miles from the main square in Sonoma, but walkable to a few restaurants, produce market, coffee shops, etc. For wine tasting, we drove up the Napa side the first day, and the Sonoma side the second day. Both were easy to access from the house.

The house worked well for us four ladies. Two people on the king in the master bedroom, one in the second bedroom, and one in the front room, where fold out mattresses were available. The kitchen is well equipped and everything working. And having two bathrooms worked well for the four of us.

The only suggestion we would have is to replace the carpet. I'm sure it is tough to keep it in perfect shape when people are bringing wine back to the house at night. And I would probably choose to not have carpet in a bathroom.

It was a great location for our trip. Thanks Lan for sharing your home with us!
