About Joe Kelly
This cabin is owned by two families who live and work in Charleston, SC. We have children that are very close in age, and we all love to go up to the cabin together when we get a chance. The set-up is great for families with children. The kids have their own bedrooms and living area downstairs where they can hang out and leave the grown-ups undisturbed in the evenings. We spend our time at the cabin hiking, holding ping-pong tournaments, sipping wine on the back deck, grilling out, and of course, taking advantage of river tubing, fishing, shopping, etc. in nearby Hendersonville and Asheville.
Joe Kelly purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Joe Kelly chose Hendersonville
Our cabin is a great place to get away from it all. We're surrounded by woods and hiking opportunities. After a short (but fairly steep and rough) hike up the hill behind the house, you will find miles and miles of old logging roads to explore on Rich Mountain and the surrounding hills. Yet, at the same time, we're a short, 13-minute drive away from numerous stores and restaurants in Hendersonville.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the log cabin feel of the place--the all-wood walls and ceilings in the upstairs living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedrooms especially. The cabin is extremely comfortable--laid-back and not fussy or fancy.

We rented this for a family get together. We had wall to wall grandchildren and our son and daughters, along with their guests.
We had lots of room downstairs and the kitchen had lots of pans and was well equipped.
The only downside was the basement toilet overflowed, but we got that worked out. The master bath had drainage issues and you ended up in about 4 inches of water in the tub when your shower was finished. The bathroom light in the master bath was not working and there was a lamp on the sink vanity. It was very dark in there. The end of the driveway needs some work.
We would stay here again however. It was a beautiful cabin.
We loved staying here! Great floor plan for gatherings!
We really enjoyed our stay. The home was well stocked, well laid out, and the surroundings were amazing! We made trips to local towns and state parks-so close to so many great things!
Cabin 1400 Old Mill Rd
Very nice if you are looking for privacy and a mountain wooded getaway. We enjoyed all amenities of the property. Close enough to attractions within a 30 mi radius. Very comfortable place to stay for the seven of us.
The road is a very Rocky Mountain road, so an SUV or truck is recommended!! There were some spiders and bugs, but other than that the cabin was clean. It was a very quiet and peaceful place. We definitely enjoyed our stay at this cabin.
Perfect Country Vacation
We had a blast renting this home for our mini family reunion! It’s up a mountain and pretty secluded but still only 15 minutes from Hendersonville and 30 min from Asheville. The last 1.5 miles up the gravel road is pretty rough but our VW Jetta made it just fine. Home was spacious and clean. We loved the ping pong table in the garage; the fire pit out back was perfect for S’mores after a day out; the open layout was nice for family time.
Only word of caution, there are black bears around. LOCK YOUR CAR. A little black bear opened the car door got inside and couldn’t get out. We let him out - Thankfully no one was hurt (or the bear) but the car was pretty tore up. So keep garage door shut and all car doors locked!
Overall had a great time and would definitely come back!
