Wilmington Chalet Rental Photos and Description

2 Queen Bedrooms, 2 full Bathrooms, Sleeps 6 including Adirondack futon

Adirondack style log home - brand new built in 2013, and located on the Ausable River with mountain views of Whiteface! Come enjoy the Adirondacks based out of this perfect log home with rustic charm, views, and peacefulness, located a minute away from Wilmington town center and 5 minutes away from Whiteface Mt Olympic ski area!

The log home is 1400 sq. ft , complete with beautiful, real, round log exterior walls, cedar and pine ceilings, hardwood floors, and large log beams, with a huge 12'x24' ft exterior deck overlooking the Ausable River, and a master bedroom balcony over cedar logs, with direct views of Whiteface Mt and the Wilmingon Range. Just built in the fall of 2013, this brand new home was lovingly built by life-long Adirondack resident and owner and Johnathan Esper, with meticulous attention to log design born from the owner's fond memories of growing up in a log home. The log house is built almost over the Ausable River, set amid some towering white pines on the steep river bank, at the end of a 300ft driveway with the neighbors' houses set well away along the roadside frontage. The sounds of the West Branch of the Ausable River, or the wind through the pines from atop the cedar balcony, are the only thing one hears from the house, despite being located most conveniently only 30 seconds to the center of the small town of Wilmington and it's various shops. Exterior sofit lights cast spellbinding shadow patterns of the round log textures and cedar shake gables, making twilight a wonderful time to come home.

The first floor of the house follows an open floor plan concept with kitchen, dining, and living rooms, plus a full bath and laundry room and bedroom with queen bed. Enjoy the cozy gas fireplace with real flames, while looking out the window toward the Wilmington Range. Radiant in-floor heating throughout the house also provides warmth and coziness, and in the hotter summer months, the natural thermal properties of logs keep the house cool, along with french bi-fold doors opening onto the deck for fresh air. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make lovely meals if you so wish, with brand new stainless-steel appliances. Upstairs is the master suite area including loft and bath. The bedroom featuring a walkout balcony accessed via french doors, and mountain views from the queen size bed. The upstairs bathroom is entirely of slate tile and red cedar, with a large jacuzzi hot-tub, glass shower, and dual flush European style toilet. There is a large loft area, which can enjoyed as a lounging area for the master suite, or desk working area, or kids sleeping area with a comfy new futon that can lay out flat for children.

This charming log chalet-style home is the perfect size for a week or weekend getaway to the Adirondack Mountains, and you'll feel you're in the Adirondacks whether at this home, or out enjoying the Adirondack region. The world class town of Lake Placid is just 15 minutes away, with fine dining and shopping, and it's the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks with the best access for hiking. Keene Valley, a hiker's destination, is also just 15 minutes away. And of course, Whiteface Mt ski area is just up the road 5 minutes away. The Ausable River is world famous for its fly fishing, and you can even enjoy your private fishing area on the bank in front of your vacation home. Wilmington is really located in a great area of the Adirondacks - it's the ski and mountain biking capital of the Adirondacks, and 15 minutes away from the best hiking in New York State.

Exterior of the house features a huge deck, with Adirondack cedar chairs, overlooking the Ausable River, A BBQ grill for your use, canoes/kayaks for guests use on nearby ponds (must sign special clause section in house rental agreement), and a firepit with plenty of Free Firewood to burn! (always keep your fire under control, not too big, and never leave unattended).

About Owner/Property Manager

I'm a full time Adirondack and Icelandic photographer, and an Adirondack native. In this charming Adirondack log home I helped build, I incorporated as many logs and Adirondack rustic styled elements as I could, recalling with fondness my family's log house I grew up in. Enjoy your time here in the Adirondacks!

Guestbook comments from the manager

My family had an amazing time on first adventure to this area and the log cabin experience added a lovely touch. We truly enjoyed this gorgeous home and the woodwork details inside. There was plenty of room for us, we were 2 adults and 2 kids. Our kids enjoyed the Futon upstairs for sleeping close by to us. Of course there is a TV there as well so that was nice for down time before sleep. The views were just amazing as well. Only negatives were heat took a while to get up to temperature, but that is being addressed. The driveway was very icy and a bit hazardous so be careful. I also did not care for the boulder that was used as a step to enter the home. I think this could be dangerous for certain people or children as well. Overall a lovely place though, well thought out and clean. Would definately consider staying there again next year

Beautiful cabin with wonderful views, very cozy and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We both had a wonderful time at your lovely cabin, it was clean, well appointed and the perfect getaway. The cabin is close enough to zip into Lake Placid for a meal or shopping but secluded enough to feel like your away from it all. Our favorite restaurant is The Cottage located right on Mirror Lake, feels like you are sitting right on the water. We will be back in the future. Thanks so much!

Perfect Adirondack Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have hoped for a better cabin to enjoy a mid-winter break. Johnathon has built and furnished a very special retreat located quietly back from a secondary road on the bank of the Ausable River. Very well equipped, clean, well maintained, and stocked with basic provisions Johnathon's cabin very quickly felt like home. We enjoyed a fabulous week and would highly recommend this cabin to anyone exploring the Adirondacks and particularly to those heading to Whiteface for skiing.

OMG - Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

First, we want to thank Johnathan for sharing his wonderful home. All the little details that went into the building of this house as well as the decorations inside the home did not go unnoticed. We spent a week up in the 'cabin' and it flew by! The views were something that only God could create. The weather was not perfect, but what was expected for that time of the year in the ADK. The location of the home is perfect. We were about 12 miles to Lake Placid - where there are tons of places to eat and shop; then from Lake Placid, an additional 7 miles to Saranac Lake. We also took a day trip to Plattsburgh and drove along Lake Champlain. You are only minutes to Canada and Vermont from Plattsbugh. But the best part of the trip was sharing the evenings with family members that joined us for a long weekend. As for the cabin, it was spotless upon arrival. We met the owner and he is an awesome young man. We enjoyed sitting on the deck the first day and listening to the river below. All and all, we fell in love with the cabin, the town (yes, we did some things in the town of Wilmington) and the general location. Thank you Johnathan for being such a gracious host from the very beginning of the booking to the very end. You made our week one to remember.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear you had a memorable week in the Adirondacks, and that my house contributed to your week's pleasures! Nice to hear you did some drives along Lake Champlain to enjoy the fall foliage at this time of year, and made the most of Wilmington and Lake Placid's attractions! You are most welcome again in the future, and I do always offer a small discount to returning guests. Happy travels, Johnathan, owner

A Pinterest Dream

Thank you to Jonathan for letting us stay at his beautiful home in the Adirondacks!

From start to finish, our experience with Jonathan and staying at his beautiful home was amazing. The home offered everything we needed from small details like fresh linens to beautiful hiking spots and a river at the bottom of the property. The location of Wilmington provides a nice hideaway from the crowds of Lake Placid, but still in close proximity to drive into town for evening drinks.

As a couple that loves hiking, cozy places, and any excuse to not be on our phones, this place was the perfect spot! We will definitely be returning!

Nice House, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time on our trip to the Adirondacks. The house is beautiful, clean, tastefully decorated and included everything we needed and more. Great location in town, close to many activities, you don't have to worry about navigating dark roads at night, yet it doesn't feel like it's in town. Mountain views are right off the back deck & the only sounds are of the Ausable river below. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings (wood provided)!

Would also add that Johnathan was very responsive - stickler for arrival time though ;)

We'd stay again and recommend to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying and for your review, and for your good advice! Glad to hear the house worked well for your family's Adirondack getaway! You are always welcome back, I do offer a returning guest discount so just ask! Also thanks for noting the arrival/departure times - it's good for other guests to hear this too! Because I have many back-to-back bookings where guests depart in the morning and new guests arrive in the afternoon, that gap time is important for my housekeeper (and she hates to overlap and interfere with guests). Of course there are some open gap days between rentals, but to keep things simple and avoid scheduling mishaps which could lead to guests arriving to a non-cleaned house, I just keep my check in/out times strict and consistent (11am departure, 3:30pm or later arrival). Welcome, and safe travels! Johnathan Esper, owner

Very Nice

  • 5 of 5

Very nice, extremely clean and well appointed log home with great views. Had everything you would need including cleaning supplies and laundry detergent. Cable TV and Internet are a plus for evenings or rainy days. Good location for Whiteface skiing in winter or fly fishing in summer. Halfway between Lake Placid and Ausable Chasm and right down the road from Whiteface Memorial Highway and Whiteface Ski area. Great mini mart and gas station close by. Nice fire pit and plenty of room for the dog to walk. We went in mid September and the only negative was that there was only one restaurant in the area opened for dinner so you need to drive about 25 minutes to Lake Placid. And if you really wanted exercise there are those 104 steep stairs to and from the river!! Would definitely recommend.
