About Violetta Buti
I have worked in tourism for ove 25 years: tour leader, guide in Florence and travel agent. My clients are usually individual travelers or small groups who are looking for tailor-made travels to Italy. I live 12 km away from Florence, on top of a hill surrounded by olive trees with a stunning view of the dome of Florence. I grow my vegetable garden and enjoy making jams. I like hiking and attending exhibits and cinemas. I rent part of the house where I live - There are separate entrances.
Violetta Buti purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1986
Why Violetta Buti chose Villamagna
My parents bought it in 1986. I came to live here in 2012 because I fell in love with the view ... which is breathtaking. I have always loved nature ... now I grow my vegetable garden, prepare my jams and harvest olives to produce my own extra virgin olive oil!
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
It's unique for the view of countryside and of Florence. One lives out in the country yet at only 20 minutes' drive to the city. There is also public transportation available. The bus stop is just out of the property. Recommended only for people with patience:-)

Fabulous villa overlooking Florence!
Loved the villa and Violetta! Spent our 40th anniversary here along with our daughter and son-in-law. Such a special hostess who graciously shared her villa and time with us. We could not have asked for a more perfect place.
I loved spending time with Marilyn and her family. Easy going and so friendly.
Thank you for choosing my place during your holidays!
A dream come true
Violetta’s home was just what we wanted. Quiet, beautiful, tranquil countryside. A short drive from Florence if you are visiting there, but lovely area in the Tuscan hillside to relax. The home was charming and comfortable. Violetta was a great host, she was a pleasure to spend time with and she was helpful with anything required. We would recommend this location to everyone.
It was a pleasure to meet Janeen and Curtis, a lovely couple from Canada and to be asked to take a few pictures of them. I would certainly enjoy meeting them again!
We loved staying in the first floor apartment of Violetta’s beautiful country home in the Tuscan hills. Her home is tastefully decorated, cozy and features a newly renovated kitchen. Violetta is a great host, very kind, thoughtful, and helpful. The location is about a 30-minute drive from central Florence, but well worth the trip!
I love hosting guests who appreciate nature, harmony and like exchanging their thoughts with me. I feel it is a great way of getting to know people who come from different backgrounds. Thank you to Sarah and David for staying at my place!
What a wonderful place, what a wonderful Manager of this property. Violetta Buti created a perfect place. We - my wife and I and two friends - felt very very welcome and comfortable in Violettas house. We were staying for over a week.Renting a car you can visit all the wonderfull landscape around an f Course Firenze (Florence), the Chianti area, San Gimmilliano and many more... We will be back soon.
Dear Klaus and Verena,
Thanks for staying at my place. I hope to see you back soon!
My parents and I stayed at this Tuscan Villa for 4 nights upon our arrival to Italy. We drove a rental car, and Violetta gave us very good directions for how to get to her house. It is up a winding, sometimes very narrow road, and oncoming traffic can make you nervous, but that adds to some of the charm. Pass through the tiny town of Villamagna on your way up, and before you leave, make sure you stop to eat at the Trattoria in town - the food was amazing!
Prior to our arrival, Violetta helped me plan a surprise party for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, where she arranged for a local store to prepare some traditional Tuscan dishes, and she got a fruit tart, bread, and a bottle of champagne. She also picked up some groceries for us so that we didn't have to deal with shopping for food upon our arrival in the evening. It was amazing, and my parents were thrilled!
Since this is sort of difficult to get to, you should choose this home if you're looking for a place to unwind, relax, and enjoy the countryside. Driving to Florence can take 30-45 minutes but isn't too difficult if you're up for it. We spent so much time outside despite the heat and mosquitos because of the view, and there was usually a really nice breeze as well. Sunsets were incredible too!
Explore the olive groves or go for a stroll up or down the winding road. This is a great opportunity to read all those books you've been meaning to finish - there was no TV in the house, so you have to find other ways to keep busy. The upper bedroom and the kitchen had AC, but often I enjoyed sleeping with the window open, which has a screen to prevent those mosquitos from entering. There is no "living room" but the double bedroom downstairs has a couch and chairs to use for your sitting area.
One of the highlights of our stay here was getting to know Violetta. She is so friendly and approachable (plus her English is great), that we left feeling like we had known her for years. And if you ever need to reach her, she stays in the attached apartment and is only one bell-ring away!
Definitely recommend and would go back!
Thank you for sharing my country house and outdoor space wtih me!
You were here in the hottest weather ever as Italy was hit by a heat wave while you were visiting. Depspite this you and your parents were in great shape, going up and down the olive grove at 2:00 pm and still with a great smile on your face...
Call me up again if you come back even if you visit another area of Italy.
My warmest greetings to you and your parents.
Even better than we expected.
We loved our stay in Violetta's centuries old Tuscany Country House. It was even better than we could have imagined. We loved hiking around the property and had never been in an Olive Grove. The house itself was as charming as the outside views. The thick stone walls, unusual ceilings, and the shuttered windows captivated us and the updated bathroom and kitchen were enough to convince us we want to return someday. We had rented a car in Florence and fell in love with the countryside as we followed Violetta's directions to the home. Guests should realize that the narrow road leading to this property is a two-way road.
Violetta had given us suggestions for and directions to local restaurants and food stores. We ate in the small delightful nearby village of Villamagna. We spent a day in Florence seeing the beautiful sights, including the Academia Museum and the Uffizi Museum. We spent another day in Siena, on Violetta's recommendation, where we made amazing memories.
The rooms in the Country House were large and clean. Looking at our pictures of it now we are home creates a strong yearning for this special place.
From our first email to Violetta inquiring qbout renting her home Violetta was quick to get back to us to answer or questions. She continued to be available promptly while we were staying at the house.
The views were breath taking. Looking at the village of Villamagna from the dining table was as compelling as the view of Florence from the front wall.
We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to rent a car and spend tie in the Tuscany Countryside. We hope that we can someday return to this beautiful place that draws us back each time we look at pictures of it We would love to return there someday.
Dear Texan friends,
Following your photos and videos of your cooking and driving in my area of Tuscany are unforgettable memories! You brought life to this place and I very much look forward to meeting you again:-)
