So DISSAPOINTED! For the past three years we have stayed at the Seahorse Cove house on Anna Maria. The first year was spectacular. The second year, a few items were broken/missing (ice machine,lights/fans/TVs). This year was the WORST! Unfortunately Coastal Cottages AMI did absolutely NOTHING to resolve it. We called the day we arrived to inform them, the pool was not working, the hot tub would not fill up, A/C was not working properly working, the ice machine was not working and had a terrible odor coming out of it, exterior doors on the main level and balcony would not lock, sheets were dirty and full of sand or food crumbs, and there was a 6ft+ section of the screened in patio ripped and wide open, resulting in our young children being bitten like crazy!

We called the after hours number and finally a pool person came out and told us how to fill the hot tub and that there was no longer a remote for the pool because the owner didn't want to replace it, but it still wouldn't heat. After the 3rd call to after hours, they told us that Craig, the manager would call us on Monday. No call...I left another message at the office Monday requesting they PLEASE call me back. No Call.

This house is over $5000/week. We have paid the same price and more each year we have stayed there with less and less quality of amenities and a blatant lack of response from the rental company.

Seahorse Cove is clearly mis-managed and the owners have stopped maintaining the property. Don't let the pictures fool you.

Owner's Response: A number of issues identified in this review that can be found to be accurate have been addressed and corrected. The balance of those that can be rectified are being addressed. It is our goal to keep all of our properties at a 5 star level. For the most part we have been able to attain that goal as can be seen by examining our reviews. Coastal Cottages apologizes for inconveniences that were truly a problem.

Beautiful property needing TLC and new AC

This is hard to have to write and we all have mixed feelings about this property. On the first hand, it is a gorgeous property and that is what has kept it a very popular rental. I would say the listing description was basically accurate regarding the location, layout and amenities. The devilish details: we realized we couldn't get the house to cool properly overall and became aware that the HVAC system is woefully inadequate. The two bedrooms on the side of the house where the AC unit is located are cool. The rest of the house stays warm and was miserable to try and sleep in, cook in and live in. We never left any doors open and started only cooking outdoors. A great group of fans save you from just bailing out. However, upstairs on the deck and walkway, the fans can't be used due to rust and noise and a whole section of screen is broken out and just hanging there.

I would say general upkeep and replacements need to be done for the amount of money this property rents for. We also found we couldn't really use the jetski ramp and lift in the creek as the mangroves haven't been cleared out in years so we couldn't bring both a boat and the jet skis as planned. The maintenance man and rental agents are extremely accommodating verbally and, quite naturally have to make excuses for the owners who aren't maintaining the property. We even took a tour of the property months ahead of time and were assured by the agent and maintenance man that everything would be fixed and everything would work perfectly or they would take care of it. That was not the case.

A lot of people complain about the pool and we really didn't have any trouble except the hot tub drained out and pump didn't continue to circulate the water and the waterfalls ceased. We didn't call on that as we had given up.

Pros: lovely home with comfortable and fun deck and nice front porch. Location is awesome. Pretty good beds and good linens and adequate cookware, but low on china, glasses and silverware for that size home.

Great kitchen and appliances, however, lost $50 worth of meat in back frig due to it not cooling well and freezer wouldn't keep ice cream frozen.

We have been going to Anna Maria for 50 years and our family even longer, so we love it even though it has been overly "discovered" but we're Floridians and miss the laid back quieter days. It hasn't stopped us from going there, however. We can only recommend it with warnings listed above.

beautiful property that needs more maintenance and

Beautiful property but a large number of amenities not working including gas fireplace in kitchen, lighting on dock and putting green, kitchen sink sprayer and ice machine to name a few. Garbage was overflowing upon arrival and only two cars fit in driveway. No wine glasses or any matching drinking glasses. Throw rugs are filthy. Pill has a serious leak which requires constant re-filling. Team at Costal Cottages is responsive but apparently can't fix these things to make this a fully-functioning property. Additionally, housekeeping needs to be replaced as we found food in the freezer and a dirty diaper under a bed!

Stop looking and choose Seahorse Cove

We all loved the entire week stay and would return in a heartbeat. Many members of our party have shared it was there best vacation to date. The house was beautiful, spacious, and flowed perfectly. We had a large party of guests ranging in age from 6 to 88 and all thoroughly enjoyed Seahorse Cove. Specially, the pool area is like a resort! It’s even more beautiful in person than pictured. Also, we had fun using the putting green, as well as playing shuffleboard. On a final note, the location was perfect. Steps from the local eateries as well as the beach.

With the above said, there are a few issues with the house, which if addressed, would have made our vacation even more enjoyable. For one, we should note the house is very high tech, which is great if you have an engineering degree. If you are like us, only partially tech savvy, then it would be helpful to have a member of the rental company greet guests upon check-in to demonstrate simple things like turning on the hot water in the shower and\or operating the TVs. Yes, there was a manual on site. Yet, even after one IT admin and 5 other educated adults read the manual, we still couldn’t figure things out. An example would be how to turn on the hot water in the Master bathroom. The shower lacked hot water all week. After two days, we phoned for assistance. A service tech arrived right away and explained we were not turning the shower on correctly. The hot water worked that day, only. The following day and for the rest of the week it remained cold. Also, there is a strong mildew smell in the Master, which can be smelled throughout the house. We believe the source of the smell is located in the Master laundry closet. We read in other reviews clients noted this issue as well. In addition to these larger issues, there were a few smaller issues too, such as one of the ice makers did not work; the knifes weren’t sharp; the clocks all had dead batteries; and, there was nothing to clean the grill with, although we were instructed to clean it.

Yet, aside from all of the above opportunities noted above for improvement, we would still rate this vacation a 5 Star. It was the most relaxing vacation we ever had and any one that stays at Sea Horse Cove should make sure they meet Mary across the street. She is the star of Anna Maria Island! We met Mary on our first day and visited with her every morning throughout our stay. At 88, she’s such an inspiration.

Poor and tired Rental - Needs work

We rented the house for 2 1/2 weeks end of Sept to first week October. The property has not had any work done on it for a long time and is very tired and not worth the rental value.

The main issues are listed below

1. Air conditioning – was not working properly in some rooms it very cold in others it was not working very little. We have been traveling to Florida for over 20 years and I have never seen an air-conditioning unit leak like the one in this property . It must have been like this for some time as I had to walk through the garage and I slipped and fell on my back as the floor is so slippery with the water/slimy build up.

2. Ice Maker in the kitchen – is not working and stinks when you open it.

3. Linens and crockery – This house is very tired and shows in the crockery and linen - it is old and mismatched and lacking, the towels are old and some have holes, the linen on the beds is old and does not smell fresh, also there are holes in some of the sheets and general things lacking in simple things like hangers.

4. General Cleanliness – The house is not very clean. The floors are sticky, the seating is dirty, the BBQ is filthy and there is mold on the ceiling in the upstairs far left bedroom and bathroom.

5. TV's – the TV in the master bedroom does not work – and there seems to be around 4 controllers for each TV???

6. Mattresses – I can appreciate that people stay and wear and tear occurs however in the room with the two single beds (my granddaughter is using) we cleaned the sheets but found blood on the mattress. We have turned the mattress but I would recommend this is replaced.

5. Door Handles - A number of door handles keep coming off including the front doors.

The list goes on. I would NOT recommend renting this house.

This house is truly amazing for a vacation. The pool and pool area is awesome, and everyone having their own bedroom and bath made for a nice vacation. It is located close to shops and restaurants which is another plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this house.
