WE DO NOT USE THE CALENDAR. PLEASE EMAIL US FOR AVAILABILITY. Due to recent controversy in the coastal zone in unincorporated Monterey County over permitting of vacation rentals, only 30 night rentals or ONE rental in a 30 day period are permissible for the present. An ordinance is promised by the end of 2016. We will be happy to work with you on a lovely Teapot Getaway. Please contact us to explore possibilities.
We are only 23 miles south of the Monterey Peninsula, located on a private, electronic gated road. Perched 950 feet above the Pacific Ocean on the west side of Highway One, The Teapot view is unsurpassed. My father often said, 'You can see all the way to Maui.' Directly above Pfeiffer Beach, it is possible to see migrating Grey whales, Humpbacks, porpoises, sea otters, condors, plus an occasional hang glider landing below.
Keywords: Our exquisite home owns one of the most spectacular views in the world.
Our family, led by my parents in 1972, have always loved and respected the incredible beauty and ruggedness of Big Sur. We sit on top of the ridge about 900 feet above Pfeiffer Beach. The road to our property is controlled by electronic gates. We have a gate by the entrance to Pheiffer Beach and a northern entrance just before The River Inn. Our view is one of the most magnificent views in the world. Our 20 acres includes a spectacular redwood grove and tunnels of wondrous oak trees. We are only about 50 minutes to Carmel and at the same time light years away from the hustle and bustle of normal life.
Our second visit to the Teapot in two years was just as great as the first time. See my post from last year: I can only add that repeat stays are just as rewarding.
Teapot was all that we hoped for and more. The drive up the hill is intimidating at first but no issue after a few trips. The cabin is intimate but everything you need for a very romantic and relaxing few days/nights. We sat and watched an outstanding sunset on the deck while enjoying a glass of wine. The next morning we watched whales just off shore while having our coffee. Where else can you get that..
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return trip.
This cabin made for a pleasant stay over a long weekend. For a few hours each day we could see humpback whales feeding in the ocean down below. At night, the stars came out and were quite remarkable.
The amenities were satisfactory and in good condition, though a little rustic. We did find the kitchen prep surfaces a little small. We also had to fuss with the oven door to get it to open up fully once our quiche was baked. The propane grill outside worked well enough for our purposes.
The location had nice views but there wasn't really anywhere to walk on the property that we could find. Moreover, the instructions stated that we should not walk beyond the front gate to avoid disturbing the neighbors so we headed down to nearby Pfeiffer Beach for an hour instead.
The drive to the cabin is long, narrow, rutted, and uphill. This would not be a good choice if you planned to make many day excursions into other parts of Big Sur. As it was, we were happy to sit tight and the remoteness itself was a nice change of pace.
We enjoyed the trip but we are unlikely to return.
A bit of a pain to get to, but you'll never want to leave once you're there. Stunning views, simple living, off the grid. Just a heads up that if you have a bee allergy, this home probably isn't for you. Other than that, it was perfect in every way.
After many years of staying in different hotels in Big Sur, we wondered what it would be like to stay there like a local, and the Teapot made our wish come true. It is very isolated in a wonderful location; the quietest place I have ever stayed. It is immaculately maintained and the communication with the owners is outstanding. When we had a problem with the scheduling because of a work conflict, Doug went out do his way to accommodate us, and we loved the entire experience.
My husband and I spent several days at this house in January 2013. It was absolutely perfect. The views are unbelievable, the house is very comfortable and well-equipped. It is very private, up a winding road. The caretaker was extremely helpful. I only wish there was another bedroom so that we could return with some of our kids. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
