Relax on our terraces, just steps from tranquil Grikou Bay and experience the magic of this unique island. Grikou is a picturesque fishing village near the historic Monastery of St. John and the Cave of the Apocalypse. Our traditional two bedroom home is set in a flowering sculpture garden with stunning sea views. The rooms are generous and bright with comfortable furnishings. A large loft-like living, dining and kitchen area is perfect for entertaining. Our home has every amenity -- Wi-Fi, TV, A/C, music system and fully equipped kitchen. Housekeeping services are available. The master bedroom -- with queen-size bed -- has a bathroom en suite. The second bedroom, with two single beds and en suite bath, has a private entrance off a veranda, and beautiful sea views. The villa's owner is a sculptor and her art works contribute to its special atmosphere. Tiny Grikou has a delicious collection of eateries -- traditional tavernas, a terrific pizzeria, and the elegant 5-star Aktis restaurant, bar and spa. It has a sandy beach with beach beds and umbrellas. One can rent a sunfish, a windsurfer, a paddle boat or a sailboat to explore the island's many hidden beaches. The port town of Skala is a ten minute bus ride or a 30 minute walk along a spectacular coastal road. Patmos is a haven for hikers, bird watchers, bicyclists, painters, photographers and those who want nothing more than to gaze at the sea and wait for astonishing sunsets. - Permission by EOT (pr. no. 4102)
We are a greek-swedish couple,sculptress/pediatrician, who has fallen in love with Patmos and its people years ago when we were exploring the Aegean islands. Already at our first visit at the island we bought a small house at Grikou Bay, an earthly paradise! The house gradually grew and today consists of two separate levels, from which the upper one is for rent with access to all verandas and garden while the ground floor is closed during rental period.
Athena Kargsten & Olof Kargsten purchased this villa in 1985
A comfortable, beautiful, traditional house, located 25 meters
from the sea, with verandas surrounded by a garden with trees and flowers, creating a serene atmosphere.
All described above plus that one can spend the whole day in a bathing suit, if one so wishes!
This is a well maintained, elegant villa in a convenient location. Traditional architecture, artful decor, quiet area, lots of space, polite and accommodating owner, a place for a seasoned traveler.
Pictures reflect reality.
This is a delightful place to stay.
The owners were most helpful and accommodating, even collecting us from the ferry at midnight. They were never intrusive and were available to provide information and advice if required.
The photographs of the property provide an accurate picture of the villa which is clean, bright, comfortable, well maintained and well equipped. Everything was provided for our first breakfast until we were able to get to the supermarket in Skala.
The terraced gardens are lovely and there are several shady terraces on which to sit and enjoy the breath-taking view.
Take a dip in the sparkling, clear waters and then enjoy a meal in one of several good restaurants within a five minutes walk from the villa.
In Skala I recommend the Meltemi Cafe on the beach - a restful place to sit and enjoy an excellent Greek salad and drink at a reasonable price.
The bus service from Grikos is punctual and reliable, but for more flexibility a scooter is a great way to get around. These can be hired by the bus stop. We paid 14 Euros a day for three days.
This was one of the most relaxing holidays I have had, definitely worth the visit!
