Couldn't ask for a better location and experience. Property had everything we needed and loved our stay!
This is one of the most amazing places in the world. I can't tell you how much our family of 6 enjoyed this place. We couldn't have been any closer to the beach anywhere else. The view is amazing. You can sit on the patio cooking a bbq and watching the spectacular sunset over the water from your outdoor table. The kitchen is beautifully appointed and all amenities have been thought of. The location is superb, with incredible snorkelling straight out in front of your room. A bar and restaurant, coffee bar, 4 swimming pools, water slide, beach rental hut- all a stone's throw away. underground parking, 3 bathrooms, air-conditioning. This place is loaded with everything you can imagine for a comfortable holiday and then some. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home. We are spreading the word here in NZ.
3 sets of couples stayed here for almost a week. We enjoyed our stay and the condo! The location is wonderful. It was a few short steps off the side yard to the pool, beach or beach walk (which walks for miles!) We were impressed by the clean and well kept condo! The kitchen was large and and stocked with some kitchen gadgets, but it has nothing like salt, pepper, cooking spray, foil, hand soap, etc. You will need to get everything from the store, which can be costly! The washer and dryer are VERY slow and small...I wouldn't plan on doing much laundry here. Also, the ice machine was slow while we were there...before we left someone at the pool told us there is an ice machine down in the parking garage where the laundry facility is...no one went exploring in our group because we left shortly after learning this info. The onsite drinks (served from Duke's at the pool are watered down:( so we just made our drinks and brought them in containers to the pool with us. Worked out well. The pool was chilly, but it was late April early May, which I am sure made a difference.
Overall the condo was wonderful! The availability to walk from the yard to the pool without going through the whole building was nice! If we ever come back to Maui, I will be returning (if possible) to this same condo!
Lots of space
Comfortable King Beds
No elevator - ground floor
The not so good:
Frustrating lack of kitchen ware, no mixing/serving/microwave bowls (microwaved green beans in drinking glasses), salt, pepper, sugar, vases for flowers, pitchers, etc. No Saran wrap, etc, left from previous renters.
Fitted sheets pop off
Carpets and walls dirty
Everything in the way of furniture shows were and lack of care.
Bedroom carpet must have had a big spill enough that the rental company said they would recarpet while we were here which we declined.
Ocean front but not spectacular view because glass around patio is fogged. Upper floors have great ocean/beach views but long walks through halls and elevator was out of order on our last visit.
Honua Kai still the best we've found in Kaanopoli!
This was the most perfect place we could have stayed. We were right on the ground floor directly in front of the ocean but with plenty of privacy, and just a few steps from the beach. It was just the 2 of us so we didn't need all 3 bedrooms but we couldn't resist staying in this ocean front unit with a grass lawn. We tend to feel cramped with small lanais so having a backyard with an ocean view (of both Molokai and Lanai with the sun setting between them!) was worth spending the extra bucks. Honua Kai resort and spa (although no spa yet) was like staying at a 5 star hotel (minus room service and daily maid service though) but with all the comforts of home (full gourmet kitchen, washer/dryer, private Viking grill in the backyard). It was worth the trade off for no room service or maid service. Everything was clean and well maintained and the owners had very nice art and furniture. Definitely NOT a typical condo rental with old, second-hand furniture. We are pretty particular and only stay in nice places. We don't usually stay in condos as they tend to look like someone's else's not-so-well-maintained home (old furniture, dated, etc.) but this condo was the exception. Beautiful, modern, new and upscale. We will definitely be staying there again! Since there are 3 bedrooms plus a pull-out sofa, maybe we'll bring the family or other couples next time. If you're looking for a less expensive condo but want the quality, go with some other couples to share the cost and/or go off season (as we did) and it will probably cost less than staying in a 3 or 4 star hotel (but with all the comforts of home.)
Long ago Ka’anapali was the royal retreat and playground for the rulers of Maui. The miles and miles of perfect golden sand beaches, gentle waves, ideal weather, and green mountain scenery was the place where royalty surfed, swam, raced their outrigger canoes, and feasted for weeks on end.
Today you can enjoy exactly the same things that only the royal families of yesteryear had access to. The Honua Kai Resort is right in the heart of Ka’anapali and all the activities that it’s known for around the world.
The boardwalk, between the Honua Kai and the ocean, takes you south to Whalers Village, a world class shopping village which has 70+ shops, cafes, and elegant restaurants – you can walk it in 45 minutes and get a great walk by the ocean. The peaceful walk will get you in the mood for some great dining and shopping.
Ka’anapali has the right mixture of sun, rain, and mist to support two world class golf courses. Ka'anapali Golf Resort's Royal Ka'anapali Course and the Ka'anapali Kai Course.
Just across the street from the Honua Kai Resort is a full service grocery/liquor store along with numerous other shops and restaurants.
