The living conditions of the home were superb and more than we could have asked for. We had a terrific weekend and are bummed to be back in our hot hometown! I recently had the wonderful opportunity to stay in Hardy and Anke's beautiful home. I travel a lot on business and it was a breath of fresh air to not have to be in a stuffy hotel room. Anke and Hardy were amazing and made me feel so welcome. They are kind, hospitable and thoughtful. I had an amazing time! Thank you Anke and Hardy! See you soon!

Beautiful place to stay! Plenty of room for our party of 9. Literally a 2 minute walk to the Ferry just around the corner and then a few minutes walk to the beach. It's about a 10 minute walk to Marine Avenue where the shopping is fantastic! There's a little bakery that has the best lemon cookies! Perfectly located! Our hosts were absolutely wonderful! So welcoming and kind. We put good use to the paddle boards offered. I wouldn't change a thing and would definitely stay here again! Excellent experience, over expectation, very generous hospitality, and can't describe enough how much fun the whole family had. Host was very delicate, and responsive in all ways to make us feel like home, this is my favorite unique vacation and my first experience with A..., and I would give it 6 stars. Anke, I can't thank you enough!!

Finally, after many years of traveling the US, Europe and Africa, we returned to live on this Paradise Island. We enjoy the socializing with friends, neighbors and the many happy visitors. The almost perfect weather is highlighted by fine shopping, dining, entertainment, sports; even a church and post office a few minute walk away.

Balboa Island Charm with Modern Touches

We are so happy we found this idyllic VRBO on the Grand Canal of Balboa Island. Being on the water is such a treat. We all loved waking up and seeing the soothing water and the boats go by from the big bay windows. Inside we found everything we needed and many thing we didn’t expect such as a comfortable sectional sofa with motorized foot rests; charming and unique decorations; an elevator to make moving in and out easy. Outside a large sunny dock sits over the bay with a fire table for cool evenings. Great shopping and restaurants are just around the corner, but the island is a pleasure to walk so be sure to take your time. Anke and Hart were so kind and responsive. We will be back!

Wonderful Home with Wonderful Hosts!

This home has it all: comfortable beds, elevator, beautifully furnished, canal view and just steps to the stores and restaurants. Anke and Hardy were great hosts and couldn't have been more accommodating. I would highly recommend this rental, you won't be sorry!

Lovely home on the Grand Canal

Our hosts, Hart and Anke, could not have been more accommodating. They have decorated this home beautifully - from the bedding to the furniture. Comfortable and elegant. And the elevator was fantastic for my three aunts in their 80s and 90s. Great location, great view, great vibe! Thank you!!

Could not have been better, Excellent Hosts, Excellent location

Everything was fantastic with our stay. It started with our arrival, Hardy & Anke had all of the lights on and some very nice music playing for our arrival. They had put out a nice personal note and left us some wine to enjoy. Everything about the home and the hosts were warm and inviting. We met Hardy and Anke the second morning of our stay and they could not have been more delightful.

This home is very convenient and in an excellent location. Everything was clean and well kept up and the beds were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful spot in on Balboa island

We had a fantastic time in our Balboa Home away from home. It is in a perfect location on the grand canal. We loved sitting out on the dock and enjoying the water. The Main Street was just steps from our home with wonderful shops and restaurants. It was a very resonable walk to the ferry and the beautiful Newport Beach. We loved renting a boat and kayaks to explore the island and see seals so close we could almost touch them.

The only downside to our trip was that California was experiencing a heat wave when we were there and the home got pretty toasty without air conditioning. It just encouraged us to go outside and enjoy the beach more.

The house was perfectly roomy with very comfortable beds and incredibly well equipped. Anke even heard that I love to make waffles and had a new waffle iron there and ready for us when we got there. The best part of the home really was the owners, Anke and Hardy. They were incredibly gracious and gave us all the privacy we could hope for. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting a beautiful spot on a pristine island.
