About Blair & Lori Decker
In 1982, after patiently searching for 10 years, my parents found & purchased 80 pristine acres bordered by thousands of BLM acreage. It was their dream to build a home where their grandchildren could visit & experience some of God's amazing creations. So in 1991, after my father retired from the military and his civilian career, he & my mom & her brother spent two years lovingly building this beautiful 4,380 square foot custom home. In 2009, I was blessed to purchase the property from my parents & I began updating it with some wonderful amenities that somehow make this great property even better. My family & I love getting up to the property for our vacations. Some of our favorites include preparing big meals together, enjoying the crisp mornings with a cup of coffee out on one of the patios, hiking the back acreage, spotting the beautiful animals, getting a great game going or having a movie night, enjoying a beautiful fire in the living room or in the stone fire pit,....the memories & precious moments go on and on. In 2013, we decided to begin sharing this amazing place as a vacation rental home & now we love returning to read the great notes in the guest book where we get to hear about some of the favorite experiences our guests have on this incredible property. We greatly look forward to having you & your family here to do the same.

Great place to stay.
Our trip couldn’t have been better. This property has everything you need for a great vacation. Looking forward to coming back.
The owners have described the property accurately and it is clean and provides a lot of outdoor entertainment areas. Private and no neighbors to deal with. It isn't a quick trip into town but we understood that and appreciated the remote location. Real fun place for a family get together and has a lot to offer to all age groups. Our group had a 3 and 5 year old and they loved it
Perfect family getaway
This property is great for large families! The views are breathtaking and the outdoor amenities provide something for everyone. We made day trips to Canon City, Salida, Buena Vista, Westcliffe, Monarch Pass. There are multiple rafting companies just outside Cotopaxi. We had no trouble finding things to do as well as enjoying days staying at the house. We were visited by deer daily as we had our morning coffee. The kitchen has everything you need! Closets are large, beds comfortable, pool table, air hockey, games, etc. We have traveled to Colorado for about 10 years and this is our favorite home. Blair and Lori are great hosts. They worked with us re: pets, changing guest numbers, and all of the last minute questions and concerns before we arrived. We are hoping its available next year!
Love this place!!!
This property surpassed our expectations on location and beauty. We loved the area and the surrounding communities. The house had plenty of activities and games that kept us busy for hours. The owner was very helpful in offering location for our Daughter and new son-in-laws picture perfect wedding. I would have loved to stay longer.
Take a look at the photo of the Adirondack chairs facing the spectacular view of the (Collegiate?) mountains. Picture yourself in your robe sitting in those chairs, morning coffee in hand, while enjoying that view, the cool mountain air, the quiet only disturbed by the singing of birds. Now, add a couple of days to your planned stay because you will find days when you are reluctant to leave this oasis of tranquility.
This home is a vacation destination of its own. Every picture shown in the profile is accurate; no photographer tricks of perspective, shading, cropping. It really is this nice, so bring along that book you've been meaning to read. Kids will love the outdoor play area.
When you are ready to drag yourself out into the local area, rafting, hiking, fishing, zip-lining, quaint little museums and shopping await, all within a 40 minute drive. Salida to the north, Canon City (Royal Gorge!) to the south. While in Canon City be sure to visit the Territorial Prison Museum adjacent to the current prison.
If we make it back to this area for another vacation, this property will definitely be our first choice for accomodations.
It is a wonderful property. Extremely comfortable and spacious. Perfect for our families!
Located North off Highway 50 and the Arkansas River on CR 12. On property or within a short drive experience: The ROYAL GORGE - It's Scenic Train Ride, Bridge & Park, Dino Experience & Helitours; Some of our country's BEST White Water Rafting & Fly Fishing; ATV/4-Wheeling Adventures; Horseback Riding; Zip-Lining; Kayaking; Rock Biking; Big & Small Game Hunting; Mountain Climbing & Rappelling; Skiing or Cat tours @ Monarch Ski Resort, Skyline Drive, Colorado Prison Museum, Tunnel Road, The Gold Mine Rock Shop,...& ENDLESS STUNNING Sightseeing!
There are thousands of square miles of public land and wilderness for all types of hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. There are fishing trails up and down the river and you can follow the deer and bighorn sheep trails, or bushwhack to your heart’s content.
The Arkansas River is one of the most rafted whitewater rivers in the world. The River’s popularity springs from the number, size and technical nature of its rapids, the length of season, length of river available for rafting, and the unsurpassed beauty. Outfitters say the Arkansas offers more excitement per mile than any other river in the west. From gentle stretches, on up to Class Five rapids, and the awesome Royal Gorge, there is something for everyone, families and thrill-seekers alike. We are close to all the major rafting companies on the Arkansas River.
* Salida Golf Course
* Buena Vista Golf Course
* Leadville Golf Course
* Rocky Mountain Mini Golf
Professional fly-fishing people tell us we have one of the best stretches of the Arkansas River. From mid-April through mid-May, an amazing caddis hatch produces incredible dry-fly action. Brown and Rainbow Trout predominate, ranging from small fish, up to 22 inches long and maybe longer! You can catch-and-keep fish for miles up and down the river.
Make sure you look for the Big Horn Sheep as you drive up or down the river, watch/listen to the males crack their heads together during the rut.
Many university classes come to this area because the geology is laid bare in the canyon for all to see.
ATVs / 4-Wheeling Adventures
The Texas Creek National Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area, and nearby BLM and U.S. Forest Service public land, opens hundreds of miles of trails to those who want to explore the backcountry with an ATV or jeep.
Skiing & Snowboarding
Monarch Mountain, located in South Central Colorado, is what you expect from a real Colorado ski area. Abundant natural snow (350+ inches) and friendly people are two of our strongest attributes. You can walk from your car right to the lifts, prices are reasonable, and the runs flow naturally back to the base area.
Nothing brings out the kid in us all more than climbing onto a snowmobile and revving that engine once or twice. Add to the excitement a few feet of sparkling Colorado powder, and you have a recipe for more fun than you can shake a stick at.
Great powder, spectacular views, 1,000 plus acres of expert terrain, steeps, trees, cliffs, and bowls – that’s Monarch Mountain’s snowcat terrain. Considered some of the best snowcat skiing in Colorado, guests enjoy skiing/riding in closely spaced trees, variable snow conditions and extremely steep slopes.
