About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom In A Great Location

Our duplex is located in an upscale residential area, seven minutes' walk from Meguro station on the JR Yamanote Line, seven minutes' walk from Shirokanedai Station on the Nanboku Subway Line. It is ten steps to Minato -ku.The first floor is refurbished. It is like a de luxe hotel suite.

It is also good for expats to stay for house hunting. An ASIJ bus stop is just two minutes' walk away.

Many restaurants, shops, supermarkets are within walking distance. Our duplex is much closer to Meguro Station than Sheraton Miyako Hotel. Ebisu Garden Place, Westin Hotel, museums and parks are in the neighborhood. Platinum Street like SoHo in NYC is five minutes' walk away. Beautiful neighborhood.

Japanese empress's birthplace , now a garden called Nemu-no-ki-no-Niwa open to the public is also five minutes' walk away. And nearby is a Japanese garden tourists never know.

Catering from many famous restaurants is also available

Perfect home in Tokyo

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Ryoko's place for 7 nights. The house is located in the perfect area in Tokyo, between Meguro & Shirokanedai stations, taking only 8 min walk from each station. There are plenty of stores, including supermarkets, amazing restaurants, take-out stores, parks, boutiques, ......basically everything you need living in Tokyo!

There is also everything you need in the house. The kitchen is so big with full equipments, each room gets plenty of sun light, the bathroom is clean and big, there is plenty of closet space, and there's a courtyard! Oh, most important thing when it comes to having good night sleeps, it is super quiet during nights! We didn't hear any noise! This is amazing especially when you are in Tokyo.

Ryoko is so kind and genuinely wonderful person. She organized books for local shops, sightseeing spots, other necessary information. She even lent us train passes for us to use during our trip which helped us a lot! We cannot feel thankful enough. We will want to come back to this house again....hopefully next year!! ....And our 3 year old daughter loved the house and didn't want to go back to USA :D

Wonderful property! Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience we had! My husband and I and our two girls, ages 11 and 14, stayed at the Itoh's for 9 days. This was our first trip to Tokyo and we travelled from Virginia, USA. I would highly recommend staying here, and should we travel back to Tokyo at anytime in the future we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Ryoko responded quickly to all of our inquiries and went above and beyond to ease our travel. Tokyo's addresses are challenging to a foreigner and trying to find places based on address is somewhat perplexing--she provided us with multiple maps and extensive assistance regarding directions, not just to their home, but tourist sites as well. She even provided directions in Japanese that we could give to our taxi drivers to find the apartment! (That came in handy!). Her hospitality was remarkable--Ryoko met our taxi in the rain at the corner of her street to make sure we could find it!! Wow! It was thanks to Ryoko that we were able to watch one act of Kabuki--the websites were all in Japanese. She simply asked us where we would like to go and provided the assistance. She even walked us to 7-11 to get baseball tickets! Ryoko provided many books and much information on tourist attractions and local restaurants. She and her husband live upstairs and were always available to us, but you would never know they were there!

The property is a house, the rental apartment is on the bottom floor, and the Itohs live on the top floor. Importantly, the apartment was exceptionally close to the Meguro train station, a stop on the very well traversed JR line. Thus it was incredibly convenient and easy to get to anywhere in Tokyo! It was a perfect location. In addition, there is a park across the street. I am a runner and was able to use that area to exercise.

The apartment itself is huge by Tokyo standards. It has two large bedrooms, one with twin beds and a sofa, another with a queen sized bed and a side chair. There is a full kitchen and common area as well. The kitchen and bathroom are dated but fully functional. We did not cook during our stay so I cannot speak to the appliances. We were very thankful to have the space that we did, and for being in a city, the apartment and neighborhood were remarkably quiet. The surrounding area has multiple restaurants, convenient stores, shopping, anything visitor would want. My husband even found an American diner!

Owner's Response: Hi! Giniene Thank you from the same continent you are on. Now we are at our summer house in Michigan. I really appreciate your detailed review on our duplex. I just want our renters to have a wonderful time in Tokyo. I really enjoyed your telling me the things you wanted to do or see. Since I have grown up in the same location of the Itohs' duplex , I feel it is my mission to give wholehearted support to the guests staying here. Please come back again to see a baseball game! Ryoko

Great location and fantastic hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Tokyo was amazing! The location could not be any better. The walk to the train station is only a few minutes but the neighbor hood is quite. The home is clean, close to many restaurants, close to the train station, comfortable, quite, well equipped and the hosts are great. We would stay again!

Live like a Tokyo local with more room to breathe

  • 5 of 5

This duplex was just what we needed! A very short walk from Meguro station with shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Very convenient for our day trips around the greater Tokyo area, but offered us some respite and breathing room at the end of the day. This general area is not quite as crowded as other parts of Tokyo (which we appreciated).

The space itself was big for just the two of us, and could have easily housed 4 people. The wifi signal is very strong. It's fully furnished with all the kitchenware and bathroom amenities you may need. I especially loved the shower! Washer and dryer available as well.

I have nothing but praise for the hosts who go to great lengths to ensure their guests have a great stay. There are many guide books and resources available in the duplex but don't hesitate to ask the host for a recommendation or even help with making a reservation. They are well versed in English for those of you who are worried about communication. They gave us tips on the metro system which we got a hang of after the first day.

We had a wonderful time here and can't wait to come back! Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review. We are so happy you had a great time here. Yes, it is our pleasure to help our renters find the places they want to visit easily. And also we love to tell our renters the great( affordable) restaurants in the neighborhood and book them . It is our third year to be listed on Homeaway, but we have already had repeat guests. Please come back again. Ryoko Itoh

The perfect hideaway in Tokyo!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have picked a better place to begin our Japanese adventure. Ryoko was a wonderful hostess, giving us all sorts of helpful information about the sights and restaurants in the area. It's only a short walk to Meguro Station and a host of restaurants, grocery stores (Don Quixote is a must), and shopping. The street is very Japanese, a bit hilly, and the charming apartment is spacious and quiet. One of the few places we stayed with a small coffee pot! Four of us stayed here with plenty of room to spare. The master bedroom bed is more like an American queen size. You can close the pocket doors. Photos are accurate in the description. Nice modern kitchen, and plenty of dishware is provided. (No dishwasher though.) I loved all the extra towels in the bathroom, the great shower and soaps, and the washer dryer. (Not many dryers in Japan.) We appreciated the air conditioing, because it was quite warm and muggy in October. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Hi! Thank you for your wonderful review and also a very nice note you left for me. Though I could not say bye to you when you left our duplex, but your note made me feel so good. All the comments about our place are exquisite. When our renters find our duplex is very special as you mentioned in your review, Kelly and I feel we are so lucky to have renters we can share this nice place and the circumstances right in the center of Tokyo. Please come back again. Ryoko

Great Place, Good People

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as described and the setup worked very well for us. We enjoyed the neighborhood and our hosts directed us to good local restaurants. They were very helpful with all kinds of information. We wanted to do a day trip north to Kita Kami to see the cherry blossoms and they helped with our bullet train plans to do that. We had a wonderful trip striking off a bullet train ride and cherry blossoms in one go. We would probably use there knowledge even more than we did if we were to return. Ryoko even gave us cards for the subway and trains which was amazingly cheap and effective way to get around the city.
