Our duplex is located in an upscale residential area, seven minutes' walk from Meguro station on the JR Yamanote Line, seven minutes' walk from Shirokanedai Station on the Nanboku Subway Line. The first floor is refurbished. It is like a de luxe hotel suite.
It is also good for expats to stay for house hunting. An ASIJ bus stop is just two minutes' walk away.
Many restaurants, shops, supermarkets are within walking distance. Our duplex is much closer to Meguro Station than Sheraton Miyako Hotel. Ebisu Garden Place, Westin Hotel, museums and parks are in the neighborhood. Platinum Street like SoHo in NYC is five minutes' walk away.
Japanese empress's birthplace , now a garden called Nemu-no-ki-no-Niwa open to the public is also five minutes' walk away. And nearby is a Japanese garden tourists never know.
Catering from many famous restaurants is also available
I went to graduate school in MA. My husband used to be a radio newsman in Minneapolis. Our two children went to the American School in Japan(ASIJ). Our daughter is working in D.C. and our son is working in San Francisco.
We have a summer house in Harbor Springs MI
It is in a great location in the center of Tokyo. Guests can enjoy living and dining like locals in urban Tokyo.
Everything was as described and the setup worked very well for us. We enjoyed the neighborhood and our hosts directed us to good local restaurants. They were very helpful with all kinds of information. We wanted to do a day trip north to Kita Kami to see the cherry blossoms and they helped with our bullet train plans to do that. We had a wonderful trip striking off a bullet train ride and cherry blossoms in one go. We would probably use there knowledge even more than we did if we were to return. Ryoko even gave us cards for the subway and trains which was amazingly cheap and effective way to get around the city.
The property is spacious, well equipped, well maintained and conveniently located near the Meguro station.
The owners live next door. Ryoko helped us to find and book an excellent Ryokan in Hakone, advised us what to do and where to shop in Tokyo, suggested attractions that only locals know, and in general did her best to make our stay enjoyable.
We highly recommend the property - hope to stay there again soon.
We have just enjoyed wonderful hospitality in Tokyo. My husband and I and a friend-- all seniors-- enjoyed our 7-day stay . It was perfect in every way. We appreciated the comfortable beds, the full kitchen for breakfast, and eat-in dinners, and the spacious bathroom with soaking tub and shower. Everything is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Also were grateful for the washing machine and dryer. Everyday we looked forward to coming back to our" Tokyo home" after a long day of sightseeing. It was convenient to the Meguro train/subway station, charming local restaurants and two excellent supermarkets whose takeout sushi and sashimi was as good as we get in expensive restaurants in Washington DC! The Itoh's took good care of us, making restaurant reservations, checking in on us, offering their assistance, and making it possible for us to watch a Japanese baseball game on TV! Should we have the opportunity to visit Tokyo again we would stay here in a heartbeat. Thank you Ryoko and Kelly.
We had a wonderful stay at the Itoh's duplex apartment with our two teenaged kids. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos. It was so nice having an apartment with full kitchen and bathroom for the price of a hotel (or less!). Everything was clean and well-kept, and the beds were comfortable. It was great to have a washer and dryer as well, so that we could do all our laundry before heading on to the rest of our travels.
Ryoko and Kelly were really nice, and provided great help with directions and information about sights we were planning to visit. The neigborhood was very pleasant, and the metro/JR stations are less than 10 minutes' walk from the apartment.
The Itoh's and their apartment really made our time in Tokyo wonderful, and we would certainly stay again the next time we are in Japan!
This accommodation is everything the owners said it would be, and much more. As part of a duplex, it was very spacious, amazingly clean, comfortable, very quiet, close to the subway which could take you everywhere in Tokyo, and the many eating establishments in the area were a big hit with us. The other part of the duplex is occupied by the owners, Ryoko & Kelly, so they are always close by for questions, advice, assistance etc. We had many friendly discussions with Ryoko, and thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and the laughter. The bedrooms were large and spacious, as was the bathroom. We have travelled widely and always look for Wifi and a washing machine with separate dryer in our accommodation. Wifi was very fast here, and it took no time at all to wash and dry clothes. Ryoko was wonderful with the help she gave freely. Her smile constantly lit up the room, and she always made us feel welcome. The large amount of information concerning aspects of life in Tokyo, recommendations, sight seeing locations, maps, local attractions etc. was amazing and removed the stress one normally feels when visiting an unfamiliar city; we would say the best we have encountered anywhere.
I'm a heavily traveled business man who prefers a nuanced vacation. This house is a fantastic place. 4 minutes easy walk from train station (Meguro-Yamanote line, two stops to Shibuya or Roppongi). It is in a quiet neighborhod (no loud noises), down a idyllic narrow street. The VRBO is the first floor of a duplex. Owners live upstairs (couldn't hear them). The floor plan is large, open, comfortable, with large bathroom (a plus in Japan), clothes washer and dryers, patio, large kitchen (a plus plus in japan). And I haven't even got to the best part... the kind and courteous owners. They will offer to assist you in finding train tickets, airport transport, and have a stack of tourist brouchures, maps, train schedules, and a house copy of lonely planet tokyo!! (no need to lug that through the airport). My only worry is that since this place is so good, it won't be free next time I come to visit.
Many restaurants, shops, supermarkets and convenience stores are within walking distance. Ebisu Garden Place, Platinum Street and Institute of Nature Study including Musashino Plants Garden are in the neighborhood.
