Guestbook comments from the owner

Rebecca Helton answered my questions when I first called, made me feel comfortable, and made the booking process on-line very easy. Family really enjoyed the hot tub, ping pong and pool tables. Dining table with eight chairs accommodated our group perfectly. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, flatware, pots & pans, etc. Appreciated having a starting supply of toilet tissue, soaps, paper towels, etc. Very convenient having a washer and dryer, and an ice maker in the refrigerator. A generous supply of towels, etc was appreciated. We had plenty of blankets and pillows. Light Switch labeling was a convenience which eliminated frustration. Loved the deck to sit in the rockers and watch the Trams go up and down the mountain. We were thrilled to see a Mama Bear with four cubs enjoying the lush green lawn next door for a few minutes about 6:45 p.m. on Friday April 1st. Overall we had a wonderful visit at the Chalet although the trip up and down the mountain was winding and got more narrow the higher we went, but the road was in good shape - it was just more narrow than we were use to.

Not a clean place!

  • 2 of 5

It needs a deep cleaning for sure! The bathrooms have mildew in them, all the light fixtures are filthy, the carpet needs to be replaced or at least a good cleaning! The pots & pans all need to be replaced, the ping pong paddles are old & need to be replaced also. For what is charged a night & you really don't get the the full 48 hours when you book on weekends! We booked Friday to Sunday, & you can't check in till 4 & have to leave by 10 check out day.

The way there does have a lot of twist, turns, & steep hills, so be warned!!! We enjoyed the view, the pool table & having a real fire at night!

Awesome Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great for our group of college juniors and seniors. It was relatively near anything we could imagine doing and made for a great hangout with the hot tub, pool table, and ping pong table.

Great value

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the chalet. The drive up to it is a a bit daunting at first but overall it is a great place to relax. Close to all the shops etc without having to be in town.

Nice layout but needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

This house had a very nice layout for our family of 8--4 adults and 4 children. Four large beds slept everyone comfortably. The downstairs area with a pool table, ping pong table, and large TV worked well for the kids. The kitchen is not large but was fine for the limited amount of cooking that we did. There is a very nice eating area that seated 8 comfortably with extra stools if you had more than eight people.

Be forewarned that the roads up to the house are steep, narrow, and very curvy--I was glad my husband and son were driving the two cars--don't know if I could have made it. We made the mistake of arriving after dark and had a very hard time locating the house--it is marked but difficult to find at night.

We have stayed at many VRBO properties and found this one to be poorly equipped and maintained. Many light bulbs were out, the showers head in the downstairs bathroom was broken and unusable, there were only 3 drinking glasses and 3 wine glasses, the can opener did not work, two chairs in the main living area are extremely uncomfortable and in need of replacement, there was no notebook with wifi passwords, etc., no firewood was provided for the two fireplaces, the ping pong paddles were extremely worn, and the carpeting needs to be replaced.

Lovely place in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here before the solar eclipse to be nearer to the path of totality. This chalet has everything you need for a great mountain experience! It was clean and comfortable. We had many bear sightings and the Ober Gatlinburg sky lift goes right over the chalet. It's especially neat at night when the lifts are lit up. Great for large families!

Great location for relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here with our family and friends. Everyone loved the place. There was plenty of room to spread out. The ping pong and pool tables kept the kids from getting bored in between outings. The location was perfect - close to Gatlinburg, the parks for sight-seeing, and the ski lodge. We would definitely come back. We also had bear sightings on a few occasions!
