Why Donna Cicerone chose Bethel - Sunday River area

This property was perfect for us because of the location to both the mountains and the lakes down the street. The appeal to us was the rustic feel /cabin but modern at the same time.

What makes this house unique

Lakes and mountains , beautifully scenic area

Beautiful, comfortable, spotless, great location

  • 5 of 5

This was the second year in a row that my wife, two grown children and two golden retrievers have had a winter vacation here and will definitely will not be our last as long as Paul and Donna continue to make it available. The house is absolutely spotless, comfortably furnished and beautifully decorated. It is a very quiet location with plenty of woods for our dogs to burn off their energy yet only about 25 minutes from Sunday River and maybe 10 from Mt Abram. It is actually closer to the many restaurants in Bethel than you would be if you were at the mountain. The kitchen is perfect with everything you need if you want to stay in and make dinner. We loved lounging around on the the big leather chairs in front of the fire after skiing. Downstairs there is a large open room with a big screen TV and a pool table (with open shots from every angle). The bedrooms and mattresses are very inviting and comfortable. It is a perfect house for adults or a young family with little kids. Paul and Donna have been great landlords, responsive (not that we have really wanted for anything there!) and a pleasure to deal with. Just a terrific home, setting and value!

Awesome ski lodge

  • 5 of 5

Four Seasons Lodge is even more charming than it shows in the photos. Very roomy, well appointed and in "like new" condition. Very convenient to Sunday River w abundant equipment rental options along the way on Sunday River Road. Nice surprise was a smaller and less expensive "locals" mountain which is practically next door (Mt Abrams). Fantastic place to ski w young ones as all trails funnel down to one base point. Owner could not possibly have been more accommodating and easy to deal with. We will definitely be back!

Our whole family (including our two golden retrievers) absolutely loved this warm, inviting and beautifully appointed log cabin. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The fully finished basement has a full size pool table and is a great place for the kids...or hang out. Upstairs, the open layout of the modern kitchen, dining room and living room, made for a perfect place to gather and talk about the day of skiing. We all commented on how comfortable the mattresses were. It is a a very quiet neighborhood on a dead-end road but only a 20 minute ride to Sunday River and even closer to Mt Abrams. We have rented on-the-mountain condos at SR in the past but we enjoyed our stay here so much more. The Town of Bethel is between the cabin and SR...about a ten-minute drive...and has a good choice of restaurants. We would also consider this as a good summer spot. It is in a beautiful location with a wrap-around porch and a stone's throw from some large ponds. Donna was a pleasure to work with, accessible and quick to respond to our questions. We hope to be back next winter and highly recommend this property.

Woodland Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house filled with just the right amount of charm and character! We classified the theme as "Woodland Retreat" since everywhere you look there is either something decorated with wood or bears or moose or all 3!

We stayed for Superbowl weekend with 3 families and the house was plenty big enough. In fact we never even had anyone sleep down on the lowest level.

We did have 2 babies with us so I will caution that the tap water in this part of Maine isn't the best. I recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and especially for mixing with formula. If you do have a small child, one baby gate is all you need for the stairwell going up to the third level. There is a door to the lowest level. The gas fireplace in the living room does get hot to the touch. We moved the coffee table in front of it and had no issues.

The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of towels supplied in the bathrooms. The coffee maker is a Keurig so make sure to bring K-cups.

The backyard has a nice little slope for sledding with the younger kids and there is a large firepit on the back patio. There were a few quirks with the TV which might just be because we didn't know how to use it. We found that whatever was playing on the upstairs TV also had to play on the downstairs one. This wasn't an issue for us since we all watched the TV together but might be important to note for others.

The beds were incredibly comfortable. In fact the mattress was better than our one at home and I'm now thinking I need to buy a new one.

We were closer to Sunday River than I had thought. It was maybe a 20 minute drive but it didn't feel long at all. We park at Barker Mnt at Sunday River.

The home owner was a joy to work with and very responsive. I would highly recommend this house and am already thinking about next year!

New Year's 2016

  • 5 of 5

We must have stayed just after Kristin and had a similar great experience. We're a group of six (including two adult children) and a very happy dog all leaving tomorrow morning. The house is private and incredibly comfortable. Because of a cold snap we spent a couple of days largely indoors and found the house an incredibly relaxing place, with plenty of room for either privacy or socializing. Dealing with Donna was easy and, again, her suggestions were very helpful.
