We love living in North Park and we are also passionate about traveling. Marjorie is an oil painter whose artwork can be viewed in the cottage. Steve is an avid bicyclist who has traveled from coast to coast in the US as well as throughout Europe. Their dog, Maya, loves to hike in the nearby canyons.
Marjorie Taylor purchased this cottage in 2007
We not only bought a vacation rental here, but also live in North Park. The location can't be beat. This eclectic neighborhood offers the best of San Diego.
We love walking to the nearby restaurants, hiking in the canyon or hopping on the bus downtown to catch a ballgame. Its a quick drive to the beach, and just minutes from the Zoo and Balboa Park. Music, Theatre and Art events are within walking distance.
My partner and I spent a pleasant week in early February at "Maya's Cottage". We loved our stay! The cottage was very comfortable, located in a quiet, modest neighborhood, a short walk to retail stores and restaurants in the North Park area and a short drive to magnificent Balboa Park and downtown San Diego. The hosts have taken great care to make sure the cottage is well-supplied with everything you will need. There are lots of nice artistic touches throughout, including Marjorie's art work. Marjorie and Steve are very accessible if you need to contact them. Perhaps the best feature is the peaceful garden in back. We spent a lot of time exploring San Diego but were always happy to return and relax in the cottage. We are frequent renters through HomeAway and other sites, and this was truly one of our best experiences. We highly recommend it.
Loved this little cottage with all the amenities for a very comfortable stay. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and walking distance to many great breweries, restaurants and shops. Will definetly stay again while in town!
We can't say enough good things about Maya's Cottage. The location is wonderful and there are lots of stores and restaurants in the area. The cottage itself was a delight. The rooms were quite comfortable and each one was well-appointed. It was a treat to find Peet's coffee, milk, orange juice, wine, and snacks waiting for us. Marjorie greeted us on our arrival and gave us some tips for parking and restaurants. We read all the wonderful reviews before renting the cottage and all of them were spot on. This is a great place to stay-far better and more homey than a hotel. We would definitely stay at Maya's Cottage on a return trip to San Diego. Thank you, Marjorie and Steve.
Located centrally, the charming cottage worked out well for our month long stay. Having the owners next door was a real plus!
There couldn't be a more perfect stay in San Diego than at Maya's Cottage. We felt so welcomed. The charming cottage was exceptional. Marjorie's beautiful paintings hanging on the wall were so inviting. Each and every detail was taken care of. We can't say enough about it. Next time we come to San Diego , we will stay much longer and plan it during warmer weather when we can enjoy the beautiful garden that is attached to the cottage.
We enjoyed our week in Maya's cottage. Marjorie was a good host and made lots of suggestions for places to eat that were spot on. The cottage was exactly what we wanted -- comfortable, well appointed and just perfect for the two of us. The welcome basket was a nice touch. We hope to return.
