We love living in North Park and we are also passionate about traveling. Marjorie is an oil painter whose artwork can be viewed in the cottage. Steve is an avid bicyclist who has traveled from coast to coast in the US as well as throughout Europe. Their dog, Maya, loves to hike in the nearby canyons.
Marjorie Taylor purchased this cottage in 2007
We not only bought a vacation rental here, but also live in North Park. The location can't be beat. This eclectic neighborhood offers the best of San Diego.
We love walking to the nearby restaurants, hiking in the canyon or hopping on the bus downtown to catch a ballgame. Its a quick drive to the beach, and just minutes from the Zoo and Balboa Park. Music, Theatre and Art events are within walking distance.
My partner and I spent a pleasant week in early February at "Maya's Cottage". We loved our stay! The cottage was very comfortable, located in a quiet, modest neighborhood, a short walk to retail stores and restaurants in the North Park area and a short drive to magnificent Balboa Park and downtown San Diego. The hosts have taken great care to make sure the cottage is well-supplied with everything you will need. There are lots of nice artistic touches throughout, including Marjorie's art work. Marjorie and Steve are very accessible if you need to contact them. Perhaps the best feature is the peaceful garden in back. We spent a lot of time exploring San Diego but were always happy to return and relax in the cottage. We are frequent renters through HomeAway and other sites, and this was truly one of our best experiences. We highly recommend it.
Maya's Cottage is a lovely, convenient hideaway. It is beautifully decorated with original art. It is within walking distance of great coffee houses, restaurants, shops, and gyms. Steve and Marjorie are gracious and responsive hosts. The backyard patio is private and lush. It is our first choice for a stay in San Diego.
The cottage exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Our stay at Maya's Cottage was perfect! This quaint little house had it all...location, amenities, and so much more! From the moment that we arrived, we knew that we had chosen wisely for our stay in San Diego. We were warmly greeted by Marjorie and given a quick tour of the house. Everything was neat and clean...as well as charming. Every detail to make our stay a comfortable one was taken care of from linens to a fully stocked kitchen...even o.j. and milk in the frig! Many thanks for all of the information on San Diego that was tucked into the binder. The little patio in the back was an added treat for some quiet time after a busy day of exploring. We especially enjoyed the North Park neighborhood with all of the Craftsmen style homes. If and when we return to San Diego, this is where we will be staying. Many, many thanks, Marjorie & Steve!
Maya's cottage was perfect for the two of us in San Diego for a wedding. Loved having breakfast on the back patio. I especially loved the paintings throughout the cottage and googled the artist. What a surprise! I'll let you do the same. The hosts made sure that our accommodations were memorable. Next time we come back to San Diego, we'll be staying here.
We felt right at home here right away. What we all look for: clean, comfortable, private, parking right in front of our door, very nice neighborhood, easy walk or drive to anything you want, all things in cottage worked, front stoop for morning sun, private patio in back for any time, washer/dryer, full kitchen, super comfortable bed.
Would stay here again.
Thanks Marjorie & Steve!
