Stunning Designer House In A Great Area!

Experience this ***** luxury and spacious apartment* located in the historical center!

This spacious apartment* is situated in a typical Dutch Mansion House from the first half of the 18th century with classic wooden floors. It has been fully renovated in 2013, so everything is brand new and highly comfortable.

The apartment is situated in the "Plantage" area, one of the prime neighborhoods in the center of Amsterdam. Plantage has a green and spacious character and is located close to must see attractions like the Artis zoo, Scheepvaartmuseum, museum Het Rembrandthuis, Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) and a lot more. And: public transport is around the corner!

The apartment itself has a spacious living room where designer furniture blend perfectly with the traditional character of the building. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can feel yourself 100% at home!

There are 2 separate bedrooms with high quality hotel beds and a fully equipped bathroom with a toilet, a bathtub and separate rain shower.

The apartment is an ideal location to experience Amsterdam with shopping, museums, exciting nightlife and restaurants just around the corner. But also an oasis of peace and quiet to come home to after a great day in Amsterdam!

With free WiFi throughout the apartment you can easily stay in touch with your family & friends back home.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam!

Amsterdam stay

  • 5 of 5

4 friends and I stayed at the Van Gogh Suites IV for 4 nights in mid-August. Even though it was a 2 bedroom, it was perfect for 3 singles and 1 couple. The bathroom, and entire unit was beautiful and up to date. The area was wonderful, not far from the central part of the city, but far enough to be quiet, cozy, and gave us the feel that we were living like locals. Public transport, a beautiful park, bikes, grocery stores, and wonderful restaurants (highly recommend the Rotisserie Chicken restaurant) were only a block away. I was concerned about it being mid-August without air conditioning, but it was absolutely not needed. In fact I needed a jacket at night. Richard was extremely accommodating and was ready for us when we arrived. If I came back to Amsterdam, I would definitely stay here again.

good value

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the VGS IV unit for a week in early May and were entirely happy with our choice. The apartment is comfortable and clean but it's an apartment, not a high-end hotel room. It's also on the ground floor and that was a huge plus for us. Stairs are steep in Amsterdam.

We arranged for a transfer from the airport to the apartment through the property manager. Unfortunately, we arrived on a national holiday in the Netherlands and the manager had some personal issues to deal with and plans had to change at the last minute. That added a bit of uncertainty but he was instantly available at the phone number provided and he arranged a for a taxi to pick us up. We lost no time and there was no extra charge; it was all pretty seamless.

The apartment is large and allows you to feel "at home". The location is excellent. The apartment is in a quiet area in a university precinct, steps from a small canal where one can find a bench to relax while watching boats go back and forth in the evening. There is also a neighbourhood park nearby if you have children with you. Good restaurants [especially pizza!] are within easy walking distance as are two tram lines that offer excellent access to most interesting areas of Amsterdam.

There is a super market 10 minutes away, on foot, so you can keep your eating costs down if you are willing to cook and clean up. The kitchen is small but has a stove and an oven all the pots, pans and dishes that are needed for a normal meal. The clothes washer is a real advantage over a hotel for people who are travelling "light". There is no dryer but a drying rack is provided.

The operation of European appliances seems to rely heavily on pictograms in order to describe "how to" and if the appliance has a lot of options like speed, and water temperature, they weren't always obvious to us [North Americans]. Perhaps others are more intuitive but it would be helpful if the management could include some written "translations", in the printed welcome information.

The only real issue with the place was that the television did not seem to be connected, not that we would have used it much. More important to us, the wi-fi worked flawlessly.

All in all, we were very happy with our stay and it gave us an entirely different and more relaxed "feel" for our stay in Amsterdam than if we had stayed in a hotel. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for an alternative [not a replacement] to a hotel.

Convenient location.

  • 4 of 5

Property looked exactly like the pictures. Convenient location - quiet neighborhood. Restaurants, grocery store and tram all within a few blocks. Steps are steep into the apartment and up to the bedrooms, so may be a problem for some people. Also, do not let the construction next door be a deterrent. They do not start working over there until after 9 or so in the morning. We did not hear them at all during our stay.

Comfortable, in a quiet location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is on a quiet street. It is close to the tram stop. Grocery stores are within walking distance.

The bathroom and kitchen are newly refurbished and have modern fixtures.

Comfortable living area with TV.

Stairs to the upstairs apartment are steep, with small tread depth. People with any disability should opt for the downstairs apartment.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

I was a bit apprehensive about the location of this apartment, as it wasn't right in the center of things, but other reviewers indicated that was not a problem, and it turned out to be great for our five-night stay. There was plenty of space for my friend and me to have privacy. Beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was sparkling clean and newly renovated. Richard collected us at the airport (for a fee), which offered a great opportunity to get our bearings and solicit his advice on nearby restaurants. The apartment is a short walk to the tram, which we rode every day to explore the city; and the Plantage neighborhood is quiet and feels safe. We appreciated not having to deal with the steep narrow staircases in canal house apartments. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a full-size fridge, a great coffee maker, oven/microwave combo and two-burner range. Café de Plantage, the restaurant at the zoo, (just two blocks away) is excellent for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed several other restaurants within 15 minutes' walking distance for dinner. I highly recommend this rental, and would choose it again on my next trip to Amsterdam.
