Every once in a while as an owner you run into someone who is a complete nightmare from start to finish and I should have known from the start to stay away from this renter.
She was mentally unstable, and paranoid. If I didn't respond to her email within a few hours she would email again and again. As you can see from my average response time, it, along with my other reviews have been excellent.
To be clear, the lease clearly stated and she was reminded would be returned 10 days from her stay and it was. Security deposits are standard fare for the Hamptons, and the deposit was returned within the allotted time listed on the lease. This is a nasty and hateful review because she was called out on being entitled and spoiled, and cowardly posting a vindictive review is her way of bullying and of responding to the fact that she merely wanted her security deposit back before she went away to Asia and nothing else.
There is nothing unprofessional about following the lease guidelines that she agreed to up front.
Acting entitled and spoiled because she felt that someone was going to take advantage of her and did not, is indeed her issue and not mine.
I go out of my way to make sure the home is kept immaculate and clean for all renters as you can see from every other review here.
The photos are completely representative of the property and the description clearly states the sleeping accommodations, so not sure why anything was a surprise.
My comment regarding the not being able to afford her stay is again a way of manipulating the truth of the conversation and being taken out of context as what I said was if she needed that money which was put on her credit card so badly then maybe she should have thought twice about renting from me when it was all laid out for her before she signed the lease.
Shame on her for thinking it's ok to utilize a social media platform in such a hateful, negative, and untrue way.
I asked the owner about the return policy of the twice as much as teh stay (they wont let me specify amounts) security deposit (well above the average deposit). He said it would be 7-10 days. After 12 days i wrote again asking where the deposit was. He said he had been gone and just got to a computer to process. I was naturally upset. I wrote that I thought it was unprofessional. His response was that I was "paranoid and slightly crazy" as opposed to an apology, and "if I couldn't afford the property I shouldn't have stayed". I have screenshots of all conversations and delays if anyone would like proof of what happened.
Honestly, it is NOT AT ALL worth the stay to be concerned that the overpriced deposit (3 times the average - although he'll claim it's "normal" - it isn't) won't be returned, additionally you can be certain it WILL NOT be returned on time and that the owner will be condescending about it.
The house itself gets the job done, but it doesn't really sleep 12 conveniently. The pull out couches are in the bedroom and the living room - so it's pretty inconvenient for anyone sleeping in those spots (but probably fine for kiddos if you have them). The pull out couch would make the most sense in the den - but alas there isn't one in there.
The main living room has giant empty shelves - which makes the space feel a bit cold and there is some odd decor such as a wooden wheelchair in the middle of the room. It gets the job done if you want to stay in the area.
We had a wonderful experience renting this home for a wedding weekend. The house was clean, well stocked, and had comfortable sleeping arrangements for everyone in our party. It is in a great location with lots of privacy, but is still within a few minutes' drive of grocery stores, restaurants, etc. The reservation process was smooth and simple, as the owner was incredibly responsive to all of our questions leading up to our stay. Highly recommend!
Host was very responsive and helpful when booking.
House was very clean and as described in the post. Very spacious and charming, in the middle of the woods. The swimming pool was larger than we expected, which was a great surprise. The kitchen is equipped with many appliances.
I highly recommend it!
If you are looking for something that offers a little peace and quiet while still being near the heart of downtown, this is it. We wanted a house larger enough for twelve guests. This place had space for everyone to sleep comfortably and more. There was a formal dining room as well as an eat in kitchen which gave us plenty of options as well as seating on the deck. We wish we'd come when the pool was open as the deck was incredible and we could have spent even more time out thee had the weather cooperated. Would definitely stay here again!
Dominic was very quick to respond from the beginning. He was very accommodating and his property was beautiful. I loved how seclusive it was with an amazing deck in the back. I just wish the weather was warmer so we could enjoy the pool too. The house was very clean and spacious with plenty of extra towels and linens. It's not easy accommodating 10 females and there were plenty of bathrooms & space. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much for sharing your property with us. I highly recommend renting Dominic's house if you're in the area.
