Gorgeous sunsets, privacy, 20 minutes to Charleston or beach, very pet friendly. Perfect for us!
This property is on a huge private marshfront, due West facing lot. The sunsets are spectacular. You may not want to leave this very well-equipped home with its comfy screened porch. But if you do, you are 20 minutes from the Hominy Grill in Charleston or Reds Ice House at the Seabrook marina. Plus, there are no better hosts than Kim and Rob who even carried up our bags for us. If you bring along your four-legged child, a crate, bed, bowls and leashes are there waiting for them. (And the 1st class bedding, appliances, and spa tub ain't bad for the humans either.)
This will be our go-to place for all our Charleston visits to come. This country setting so close to our favorite city is just ideal!
It was absolutely our pleasure to have you stay with us and we so hope to see you again in the future!
Perfect for pets and privacy
The Marsh Cabin offers a unique combination of nature, privacy and easy access to Charleston. The house is close to Highway 17 but sits at the end of a private drive. The only homes are the Marsh Cabin and the owners who live next door. Kim and Rob are delightful, accommodating and respectful of your privacy. While you would love it with or without pets, if you travel with dogs, you could not ask for more. We travel with 2 fairly large dogs and have stayed at several nice VRBO homes, but must say the Marsh Cabin is the most pet friendly home we have found. Kim and Rob have created a place that is ideal for the canine members of your family - making you feel like your pets are truly welcome. The huge yard is securely fenced. The home is clean, peaceful and so comfortable with many thoughtful touches for you as well as your pets. Sunsets over the marsh from the large screened porch are tough to beat. We have stayed here twice and hope to come many more times.

The accommodations were perfect for what we needed. The place was very comfortable and clean and quiet. We plan to return and stay again if available. I would highly recommend to any.
Pet Lovers Paradise
We have spring vacationed at the Marsh Cabin for the past three years with our two labradoodles and have enjoyed every minute of it. If you are looking for a place that is beautiful, quiet and pet friendly, then this is the place for you. Charleston is only minutes away with close access to St. James and St. Johns Islands. If you are golfers, there are two very nice reasonably priced golf courses within a 15 minute drive.
The Marsh Cabin is elevated on the waterfront and has a large deck and screened in porch from where beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed. The interior of the cabin is rustic and appointed with everything needed for both humans and their pets. Importantly, the entire area of about 2+acres is fenced so your pets can roam unleashed – hard to find these days. The owners, Kim and Rob live next door with a similar fenced in area for their animals as Kim’s hobby is dog agility training. They are wonderful hosts and can provide much advice as to what to do and see around Charleston – especially great places to eat that are relatively unknown to tourists.
Finally, you don’t have to have a pet to enjoy this property. It is peaceful, away from traffic and a great place to relax in a southern setting. It doesn’t have wifi but if you really need it, a hot spot can be created from a cell phone.
Beautiful marsh cabin!
My family just spent the last here and I have to say this is one of the nicest spots we’ve ever been. The house itself is in great condition and well stocked (so no need to overpack supplies), and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. Large fenced in area, very pet friendly (the house even has dog toys, beds, and a crate for your fur baby), and the screened in porch is the perfect spot to spend your downtime.
When you’re at the cabin, you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere because the cabin overlooks the marsh and is very private, but you’re only about 10 minutes away from the grocery store/Walgreens/etc., and 15-20 minutes away from downtown Charleston. When you go, be sure to take binoculars so you can fully enjoy all of the wildlife that calls the marsh home. While we were there, we were able to watch the fish jumping out of the water, the birds (I even caught a glimpse of a bald eagle early one morning!), and be sure to listen for the armadillos playing at night… With a small flashlight, you can see them running just on the other side of the fence under the porch and playing tag!
The only thing missing is wifi, which turned out to be a great thing… The whole family unplugged for the week and we got back to spending our time in face-to-face conversations instead of staring at a laptop or tablet during our time together. We’ve already decided that we want to visit this cabin again for our next Charleston trip!
I needed a place for me, my daughter and 2 Brittany dogs while we attended a wedding in Charleston in April. My dogs are young and barkers when in a new place, so I needed a place where they wouldn't disturb anyone and have a fenced area in case they needed to go out in the middle of the night.
But our stay at this lovely cottage rewarded us with such a special holiday on top of all my original needs. Kim was so lovely and helpful and even kept an eye on my dogs during the wedding. All of us loved the beautiful house with such comfortable beds as well as the lovely extras I can't thank Kim enough for (like coffee and cream!).
The large fenced area was huge and my dogs enjoyed being able to run around and I could let them out in the middle of the night as was needed. The pictures don't do this place justice!
The lovely screen porch was a favorite spot. The view of the grasses and water were wonderful and I even saw 5 white-tailed deer run by as I was looking over a map to find the wedding location. My sister was also in town at a hotel and came over to join me for dinner and a movie and loved it so much she stayed the night instead of returning to her hotel.
What a treat to find such a quiet remote retreat that is also so close to the highway and with easy access to everything.
I came to Chaleston only for my nephew's wedding but left with such lovely memories of our stay at this cottage retreat. Thanks so much Kim and we loved the benne wafers!
