Keywords: great downtown location, 21 windows with great city views, wide open loft space, amazing chef's gourmet kitchen, 3 full bathrooms with showers and tubs
My partner and I are both novelists and professors at NYU and the New School University. We have a daughter, age 11, and a son, age 14, and a charming cat named Ganesh.
Robert Antoni purchased this condo in 2001
Our apartment is located a short subway ride from all locations uptown and downtown. It is a short walk away from the chelsea galleries and the new highline. Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Fairway, and Mario Batali's new Eatly are two minutes' walk away. Great shopping on nearby 5th Avenue.
The loft is huge, airy, and full of light. We loved the art and the'NYC bohemian' feel to it. It was clean, and felt welcoming. It has a wonderful kitchen. Also, it was so great to have our own elevator. We felt safe and relaxed. We were five adults, so the three bedrooms and three bathrooms were a huge plus. It was a true NYC experience being in this neighborhood, and we could easily navigate on foot or subway to wherever we were going (Highline, galleries, cafes, plays, etc, etc!). The owners are very sweet (and kitty cat, too)!
Our family, consisting of me, my wife, our 31 and 27 year old sons and their wives stayed at this wonderful loft for a week over New Years. You can see by the pictures that the place is amazing. The master bedroom is huge with a large private bath which actually contains a bidet! The other two bedrooms are roomy with bathrooms outside the room. Not a problem for our group. The kitchen is to die for! All the utensils you'd ever need to cook or bake anything. Lots of spices too!! In fact, our little group of travelers cooked up a delicious gourmet dinner on New Years Eve,. UMMMM!!
As far as the location of the loft goes, nothing in Manhattan could be better. We walked everywhere. Financial District, 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, Guggenheim, etc., etc. BTW, there's a place a few blocks away called Eataly. It's an Italian Market with a few restaurants and shops selling wine, gelato, coffee, gift baskets, pastas, sauces, olive oils, sweets and more. Also close by is the Chelsea Market.
In conclusion, Its the only place I'll rent while in NY!!
We recently stayed in this apartment for a NYC girls weekend and could not have asked for more in an apartment. From the moment the elevator opened up into the apartment, we were thrilled with everything about this place. There is a very large living area surrounded by huge windows that let in sunlight from all angles, perfect for hanging out. The bedrooms were very convenient and comfortable for the six of us, and the apartment had lots of amenities including washer/dryer, dishwasher and tons of seating areas. The location is great: close to Union Square, the High Line, Gramercy Park. It is surrounded by restaurants and convenient to grocery stores as well. We had a wonderful time and are grateful to Bob for accommodating us when our other reservation fell through at the last minute. He made everything very easy for us! We especially enjoyed Ganesh, the beautiful cat. We will be back!
Our family party, 5 adults from Spokane and Seattle, spent a perfect July week in this comfortable, convenient, spacious Chelsea apartment. We have used VRBO in Manhattan almost a dozen times in recent years, staying in many different neighborhoods of the city, and so we consider ourselves savvy comparison reviewers. This loft definitely goes to the top of our "hope to return" file. As the photos accurately show, there's an open and welcoming ambiance to the loft. We could not have duplicated that experience in any hotel for the price, nor would we have been able to enjoy the conviviality of common space plus the ample privacy of separate bedrooms and baths. And where else could any visitor meet so remarkable, so distinctive and regal, a cat? (His human companions, aka loft owners, are agreeable too.)
This apartment was one of the highlights of our trip to New York City. It's superbly located - just a couple of blocks from 5th Avenue and very close to subways etc. It couldn't belong anywhere other than New York. Light, airy, and very open-plan, the apartment boasts walls of windows and a fabulous loft-like ambiance. Its interior is unique and beautiful but still manages to maintain a warm and cozy feel (helped - in part - by the very gorgeous rental cat, Ganesh!) The rental process was very easy - the apartment's owners very communicative, kind, and informative. I shall be recommending this place to plenty of friends!
We had a great and happy time ! at the lovely loft this past May.
The moment we walked in we knew we had found the perfect place for our family and that it was home away from home. And we saw Ganesh who woke up from his sleep to welcome us to his home. He was the most beautiful cat we had seen and by the time we had left he had become apart of our family.
The Loft was exquisite, spacious and the decoration was so cool as it was vintage Art Deco. The amount of light that came through the windows that literally wrapped around the whole loft was quite unique for NY city. And to be able to watch the city lights in the evening while having dinner was so pleasent.
The owners had prepared the house so that we could just walk in open our suitcases and settle in and enjoy our vacation. They had thought of every possible detail...We had a booklet in which all was written from how to use the private elevator to where the dishwasher detergent was to maps and best neighbourhood restaurants and ofcourse a note how to feed dear Ganesh.
The location was great! The shops, the subway, the park, the restaurants were right around the corner and our walks to Soho were so lovely and it was a lovely suprise to discover that we had right next door to us the weekend Chelsea Flea market, where we had so much fun.
Thank you for making out stay so memorable. We spent great 10 days and we are sure those who will stay will have a great time !
