Owner's Response: Future Guests, The owners of this home took great care in ensuring that their guests have a great experience in this vacation rental. Location was of utmost importance to them when they were searching for a great rental. They chose Lauderdale By The Sea because it is one of the most desired locations for vacationers. This home is just a short walk to restaurants, night life, shopping, and the beach! They also had a brand new, salt water pool constructed. This pool is quite large and can be heated up any time of the year. Please send us an email and lets see if we can get you some time booked in this great rental!!

Nice house and great location

  • 3 of 5

Nice house but not well equipped for elderly guests. Laundry room is outside and requires walking down steps or walking through rough pathway. Lighting was poor outside as well. Could use some overall updating on patio area specifically furniture. The beds were comfortable and showers easily accessible. Overall nice house but I would not recommend for elderly people who might be unable to easily maneuver steps. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Very quiet neighborhood near many restaurants and attractions. Very close to beach.

Nice place, but pool service, cleanliness, grill and noise levels need improvement.

  • 4 of 5

Overall the stay was nice. Nice kitchen, pool (more to come on that), ample space and close to the beach. However- I should point out a few things:

1. When we arrived the pool was dirty. (Full of leaves.) Heat stopped working on the third day due to the filter getting clogged. The owners were very responsive and sent someone out immediately when we reached out. On the last day, some random 'pool guy' arrived and while our children were literally in the middle of playing/swimming he just started cleaning it without a word. I asked if he could do it another time (it was our last day after all) and he begrudgingly said, "Well we clean twice a week." I told him it hadn't been cleaned since we were there (1 week stay) and asked why it was such a huge priority now. He said they clean it twice a week- once on Wednesday (which I knew was false, because that's the day we arrived to a dirty pool) and also on Friday (which didn't happen because we were there and no one showed up.) After some back and forth he agreed not to pour a bunch of chemicals in the pool, effectively ruining the last day of our stay and just dropped some tablets in the skimmer. He did a quick clean with a vacuum/net and left. The owners are responsive but they should consider switching pool service providers. It's possible they're not getting the service that beautiful, heated saltwater pool deserves. Otherwise- If you arrive and it's dirty- reach out to the owners and they'll rectify the issue right away. When cleaned properly & heated that pool is awesome.

2. The grill was absolutely disgusting. Put simply, it was a fire hazard. It took me and my friend (who luckily is a fireman) about an hour to get it clean enough just so we could safely grill.

3. They are remodeling around the pool next door and cutting tiles. This means loud construction work (as well as loud music) right next to the master bedroom window every morning starting promptly at 8am. We wake up fairly early and didn't mind the noise so much (or tunes for that matter), but large clouds of tile cutting dust would randomly waft into the backyard as we lounged by the pool.

4. Also- There are notices all over the house warning of loss of a security deposit if this or that is damaged, yet the master bedroom's bathroom's doorknob was literally hanging of its mounting, as if someone started to install it but then gave up.

5. Finally- we arrived to dirt all over the floor in the 'garden room' by the sliding glass door.

Talk about feeling "at home" while on vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

The description of this home was spot on. It felt new and was spotless and so comfortable for our stay. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and had plenty of room to spare. While we opted to have a lot of our meals out, the times we did eat in we were floored at how great all the pots, pans and other kitchen utensils were. Everything we needed was all ready there. We cooked out on the grill one night and ended up with a fabulous feast. There is room for all to eat indoors, but the big table outside was perfect for us. The pool was AWESOME! And we really appreciated the safety gate around it, especially with younger ones. I'm surprised my kids aren't permanently wrinkled from all of the mornings and evenings spent swimming! There were loungers and chairs for everyone and then some. We spent so much time out on that patio! The whole property was well groomed and taken care of. There is obvious pride in ownership of this home. After a day out and about being your typical tourist, coming "home" was such a treat. It's so important to us to feel at home and comfortable, so this was the perfect place for us to stay. Any questions I had leading up to our trip were immediately answered by Casey, and when I had a question upon our arrival (on a Saturday evening) he returned my call within minutes. I would work with these owners again in a heartbeat and hope to stay in this home again. OH! And the walk to the beach was easy (and short!) and we were also within a short walk to FABulous restaurants, shops and an incredible pier area. The location was perfect for our family and friends. If Fort Lauderdale is an area you would like to check out, this is an amazing home to stay in. I can't say enough good things about our experience on this trip.

When we (wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I) look for rental property on VRBO, we assume listing information is accurate. In fact, there are significant discrepancies between the information in this listing and the realities we encountered. Like our own homes, this home has both good points and flaws.

This is not a ‘luxurious brand new home’, it was built in the 1950s! It is not a ‘completely renovated home’. No ‘brand new appliances’ or ‘brand new, top of the line furniture’. No room was ‘furnished to the highest of standards’. Bathrooms, kitchen and appliances appear to have been updated 3-4 years ago – and have been well used. They all work, however. Washer/dryer are in a shed attached to the west side of the house. Yup, you must leave the house and interact with Mother Nature/creatures to do every laundry! “Comfortable family mix” aptly describes the furniture and furnishings here. Some older, some newer – all with evidence of use. House photos look a little nicer than the reality, but pretty accurately reflect the furnishings here.

TVs have basic cable. Only the LR TV has HD. Wi-Fi/Internet worked well.

Kitchen is pretty well stocked: ample silverware, utensils, cups, glasses and etc. Stovetop/oven have many foodstains. Cookware quality varies.

All four mattresses have comfy pillow tops. Water pressure in each shower was outstanding; plenty of hot water. Plenty of towels, bath and beach.

Air/heat worked well under cooler (40s-60s) conditions. Pool/patio is ‘as advertised’! Rusty screen door to patio doesn’t work. Lots of mosquitos; we couldn’t kill them all!

We asked for assistance three times during our stay. Cockroach and fridge issues were resolved the day after we called. Also asked for assistance to access the locked Town tennis courts - a seven day challenge. Found good courts just over the bridge.

House was acceptably clean when we arrived. Marble tile floors are permanently pitted/worn/stained/scuffed throughout.

Proximity to the restaurant/shopping area in LBTS is pretty much as advertised. Sidewalks and signaled pedestrian crossings make walking safe and comfortable. We enjoyed walking a lot!

Based on promises made in the listing, we willingly paid several thousand dollars for the use of this home. Although those promises were not fully honored, we sought no financial adjustment. We do suggest that information in this listing be updated to include accurate and honest information to future prospective renters.
